Mission: To maintain the independence of adults 55+ by linking them, their families and caregivers to services, thus enabling them to remain in their homes longer.
Programs: Scsepsenior community service employment program is paid on-the-job training for individuals 55 and older to update skills and enhance employability. We had 40 clients, 23 partner agencies, we served 5 counties. This program was transferred to aeoa at the end of september 2016.
rsvpretired & senior volunteer program (rsvp) connects older adults 55+ with meaningful volunteer opportunities at nonprofits in our community. In 2016, 793 eldercircle rsvp volunteers served 99,127 hours at 68 sites in itasca and koochiching counties. In addition, eldercircle rsvp has three initiatives-bone builders, handyhands and warm fuzzies. Bone builders is a fitness and exercise program designed specifically for older adults that served 290 participants in 2016. Twenty-seven handyhands volunteers completed 142 minor home repair and safety check requests so 77 older adults could stay safe and comfortable in their own homes longer. And 49 warm fuzzies volunteers knit, crochet or sewed more than 1,764 warm and fuzzy items (hats, mittens, scarves, afghans, baby items, etc. ) for distribution to families in need in the community.
adult day serviceday respite program for individuals 18+ who cannot be left home alone during the day. For 2016 we had 18 participants, 27 care-givers and 11 sessions of support group.
