I was introduced to CommUnify by a friend. When I became aware of their mission and effectiveness with those in need - both individuals, families, and young people, - those who need help to become stable and be functioning members of our community, I became a believer in the organization. They have staff with the talent and emotional commitment to achieve their challenging goals and we are fortunate to have them in our town.
This organization is committed to children and families in the community. The staff and program provides essential services to children.
Very impressed with the number, variety, and quality of services offered through CommUnify. They are constantly working to develop partnerships and improve organizational efficiency in order to have the greatest possible impact in the community.
It was so much fun! I enjoyed going to preschool. My preschool teacher Mrs. Miley is the reason why I became a teacher.
Everyone is very supportive and helpful. They take great care of my daughter I have no complaints. They let me know everything that is going on and my daughter enjoys her time going to see her teachers.
Communify Headstart has helped me go back to school and continue my college education by knowing that I can have my children in a safe and fun childcare environment at no cost. Provides many childcare centers for low income families
I like that the Headstart-Communify has really nice teachers and that they help my little brother with his learning. Ever since he started going to Headstart- Communfy he has been learning and doing better here at home. I hope that more people get know Headstart-Communify becuase it really helps the little ones in thier learning, communicating, in socializing, and in having a good time during the day when there at school.
The feeling that comes with helping people in need is incredible and providing free resources to anyone that needs it.
I have been supporting Communify for many years.
Communify is our local war against poverty. There are no other agencies like it in Santa Barbara.
They have 17 programs covering all ages, income level and county geography.
I am very proud of the example they set in SB. They are a role model for other communities.

CommUnify is a well run and heartfelt organization. The staff is dedicated to their clients and the mission of the organization. It is a pleasure to work with them and to play a role in helping to raise funds and consciousness about the work and the amazing programs they make available to so many in our community
CommUnify does an amazing job in our community bringing a multitude of resources to people with the greatest need. Resources include education, counseling, financial support, literacy, food insecurity and guidance for youth.
CommUnify is true to its mission of serving Santa Barbara County’s vulnerable populations through education and coordinated services so they may achieve economic stability, improve overall well-being and thrive.
Recenlty I had the high honor of visiting Guadalupe Head Start Center in Guadalupe. However, much of my visit included peeking inside the classrooms during nap time, exploring the center, greeting our staff, and learning from Lorraine Neenan. I walked away from that experience with new knowledge, increased vigor, and valuable information I get to share broadly.
GREAT WORK COMMUNIFY!!!

Thanks CommUnify for all you to help "People Living Sustainable and Independent Lives."
Communify is a wonderful nonprofit organization that helps the community in every way possible. They give parents assistance with community support and children the best education. I love CommUnify and what it stands for.
I am a huge fan of the work of the Community Action Commission of Santa Barbara County! I worked for the CAC in doing outreach for the Senior meal program and then later as an intern in Central Administrative Services. The work inspired me to continue making a difference in my community and every employee and volunteer and contributes to the organization is extremely passionate. It is all over a great organization!
CAC is such a fantastic organization. They help so many people in so many ways. They have great staff and are in Carpintaria, Cuyama, Guadalupe, Santa Maria, Lompoc, Santa Barabara- everywhere!
I was fortunate to be a part of this great organization for a short time. I helped out with their Summer Food Program and in administrative services at the CAC central office. While working with their Summer Food Program I witnessed the large impact that CAC has in feeding many low-income youth nutritious meals during the summer. There is great care taken into ensuring the food is both nutritious and tastes good. CAC also delivers nutritious meals to homebound seniors where the delivery drivers are very kind and courteous. The CAC delivery drivers are sometimes asked by seniors to help with something around their house and the drivers always try to provide any help they can. The seniors look forward to their meals and a lot of times the CAC delivery driver is the only person they talk to all day. While working in administrative services at the CAC central office I saw how the staff was very passionate and dedicated to every program and project that they were working on. This organization is such an important part of the Santa Barbara community and does an impressive job of addressing the wide array of needs in the community.
So many senior citizens would not have food and young families would not be given a great start for their child's education without CAC. We are lucky to have this organization in our community.
FSA regularly partners with CAC. This nonprofit readily and skillfully serves the most marginalized of populations. We are lucky to be able to look to CAC as an amazing resource in our community!
Isla Vista Youth Projects has partnered with CAC in many ways for many years. We work with children and youth in Isla Vista, and work closely with CAC to avoid duplication of service, share professional development, coordinate services and improve efficiencies / outcomes county-wide. Every summer we partner with CAC as a summer food site and have served as a sub-contractor for ARRA funds during the recession. CAC is a leader in our community, their staff are top notch and the agency overall is exemplary.
CAC provides essential services to the community, from senior meals, to youth programs, to Head Start, to home energy improvements. I worked with CAC for several years, and learned much from the staff- not only about delivering services, but about leadership and compassion.
We are fortunate in Santa Barbara County to have a service provider like CAC. I first knew of the wonderful work that CAC did when my son was admitted to the HeadStart program. I was very impressed with the holistic approach they took to improving the child's life, providing support to the family as a necessary step. But it wasn't until I served in the CAC board of directors for over two years that I realized the huge positive impact this organization had in the communities it serves, helping from newborns, to children and youth at risk, to working poor families, to seniors. Kudos to Fran Formann and all her staff for the high level of professionalism, compassion and humanity with which they do their work.
Friendship Center has been partnering with CAC for many, many years!! We have two adult day services sites in which CAC provides lunches for our members that attend our programs. Our members enjoy the food, and it always is very nutritional. The staff at CAC are very approachable, efficient, and professional. We consider CAC a community partner in providing services to our aging community and their caregivers.
Keep up the good work CAC!

Cuyama Christian Academy was a recipient of funding through the economy recover program or stimulus program. With this funding CCA and the Cuyama Valley Family Resource Center were able to offer the community adult GED and ESL classes with child care provided. The care providers received early care training and CPR and First aide classes. The impact on the community was significant with 9 limited english speaking moms passing their GED and receiving an equivalent to a high school diploma. The paper work for this program was complicated and meticulous but the CAC business staff were very helpful and only a phone call away. CAC was a wonderful partner. CAC's summer lunch program for children has been serving Cuyama every summer for the past 4 years. Our small community has very limited activities for children to participate in during the summer. The Resource center and Recreation center offer a three day a week program and CAC serves the children a snack and lunch.
It has been a great pleasure to serve on the Board of Directors for the Community Action Commission over the last 3.5 years. I was somewhat apprehensive at first that CAC may follow the lead of many social service agencies and focus only on increasing eligibility, clients served and capacity. However, with confidence I can attest that CAC focuses on providing an exceptional quality of service to the clients with a focus on helping those in need reach sustainability and self-sufficiency. Under the leadership of current Executive Director Fran Foreman and her management team, CAC has become a place of stability, reputability and fun! As one of the oldest and largest non-profits in Santa Barbara County, the Community Action Commission is truly a great nonprofit.
My son was reading and writing before going to kindergarden thanks to this preschool. He loves learning concepts and big picture ideas. He currently is getting ready to embark in middle school and has passed the tests to take honors classes. I have to say that with the start from this program and some great kinder teachers he has a bright future. This to me is a big deal, because as a single parent not being able to afford private daycares or other schools this nonprofit really stepped up to the plate. Times have changed but this program has not, just the funding changes but I hope that this non profit can help many more children get the start that my son received
A great Non-Profit dedicated to serving the diverse populations they work with. Community Action Commission is tasked with a a huge responsibility to provide services for youth, families and seniors. In this day of scarce funding for programs serving all these populations, the community action commission has rolled up their sleeves and charged straight into the fray with the dedication to serving that is necessary to make a difference in the lives of those in our community who need the most help.
