Causes: Adoption, Children & Youth, Foster Care
Mission: Child S.H.A.R.E. (Support Hope Advocacy Resources and Encouragement) exists to challenge and equip local congregations, parents and volunteers to provide foster and adoptive families and friends for abused and neglected children.
Programs:
Supportive programs include training and conferences, online resources, seasonal events, monthly family group meetings, and welcome home and adoption celebrations.
Hope for Children
Child S.H.A.R.E.’s primary reason for doing this work is for the children themselves. They are precious and have immeasurable value. Child S.H.A.R.E. is part of bringing hope and a future deserved by all.
Advocacy in the Community
Child S.H.A.R.E. has established an organic partnership between church, state, families and communities that has successfully created an environment of stability and permanency for children seeking a “Forever Family.” Child S.H.A.R.E. has been replicated in other states, and staff are called upon for guidance by social service agencies and government departments outside of Southern California.
Resources for Churches
Engaging faith communities in finding and supporting homes for foster children makes sense. Faith communities are already established in providing supportive networks for members of their communities. Programs specifically designed to help faith communities respond to the needs of children in foster care can unlock hidden potential within the church. Faith communities are compelled to meet the needs of children in foster care in their response to biblical teachings.
Child S.H.A.R.E. empowers local community and faith based organizations to build collaborative ministries to serve children and families that include respite care opportunities, babysitters, volunteers, family groups, faith community adoption celebrations and dedications. Community and faith based organizations also host annual summer picnics and Christmas events for Child S.H.A.R.E. Families.
Encouragement for All
Child S.H.A.R.E. encourages all to become a part of the solution to the foster care crisis. Whether you have five minutes, five hours or a lifetime to give, you have a place with Child S.H.A.R.E.
Volunteer opportunities range from respite caregivers to event committees to mentors to foster parenting and adoption.
