Mission: Science ATL envisions Atlanta as a science city, where people celebrate a shared appreciation for the ways science and technology are fundamental to the health and prosperity of our community, and where everyone — regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, or socioeconomic status — has equitable access to science learning opportunities. We will accomplish this by cultivating an equitable community of lifelong learners across metro Atlanta who are connected and inspired by the wonder of science.
Target demographics: Inspire the wonder of science and build equitable access to STEM education
Direct beneficiaries per year: 15,000 students engage in STEM learning opportunities, developed 60 youth leaders in STEM, and engaged STEM professionals in 5,248 hours of service.
Geographic areas served: Atlanta
Programs: The School and Youth Program engages students underrepresented in STEM learning by connecting them directly with STEM professionals and leaders around Atlanta to inspire them with hands-on STEM activities, coaching and mentoring, and sharing a pathway to becoming future STEM professionals and visionaries in our community. The Atlanta Science Festival celebrates the integration of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in our lives today, shares the impact they have on our community, and inspires us all to wonder about our future. The festival's mission is to engage curious people of all ages in a celebration of our local science community, and the ways science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) help us to better understand and improve our world.
