I think Heritage Retreats is a train to greatness. I bumped into my first Heritage Retreats opportunity this past summer, and I wish the same bump to anyone who might be deliberating on whether or not to go. DO IT. DO IT. DO IT. It wants you to experience, learn, be challenged and engaged, pushed yet relaxed without any requests or demands, ulterior motives or expectations. It - that is, the diverse rabbinical leadership, guides, volunteers, and all of the age-ranging observancy-varied attendees, were beautifully accepting and interested in one another. I learned that it only takes 36 hours to feel like family, especially in Poland. Warsaw - Lublin - Majdanek - Belzec - Krakow - Auschwitz/Birkenau - Krakow - Wolbrom - Wodzislaw - Lodz The dynamic leadership is scholarly, CAPTIVATING and full of vim. The deep, deep insight to Polish history and Polish/Jewish history put a lens on my mental camera. The cornucopia of kosher foods was tasty and fresh. The countrysides were lush, clean and picturesque. Krakow is magnificent. I had always wanted to go to Poland, to be depressed and uplifted simultaneously. Whoever you are, however your faith, whatever your age, you'll find something you're looking for. Even if it is unknown. To rekindle....you will.

Heritage Retreats provided me with one of the most powerful, inspiring, and fun times of my life. There are many Jewish kiruv programs, but Heritage connects people like nothing else I've seen. I've never seen so many people change so much over the course of one week. I'm still close with many of the participants from that camping adventure from four years ago.
When I look back today at the speakers provided, and the classes offered, I feel like I didn't even begin to scratch the surface of what was offered in terms of Jewish growth... my rabbis back home wanted to go with me! So many incredible rabbis in one place... half of our group ended up in Yeshiva within a year.
I now donate to Heritage regularly. It had such an impact on my life, and I know how much it's changed the lives of others.

Heritage Retreat was unbelievable. We were surrounded by spectacular views of Yellowstone and really capitalized on the nature around us. Along with the scenic wildlife, we were also surrounded by amazing moral mentors and people who wanted to get to know us so that they could show us how to become better people and better professionals. Heritage Retreat was an amazing week that started off with us camping in the foods and concluded with a magnificent shabbos in Montana. Within a week I was able to meet great people, mentors and animals. After spending a week in a tent and with no phone usage I came out with more questions to ask myself, but also a clearer idea of who I want to become and the person I'm supposed to be when I get back to campus. If you have had some exposure to judaism this is a trip you will not regret.

I've been a guest lecturer at Heritage Retreats for many years, and I've never stopped being amazed by what they do and how they do it! They bring together a group of young Jews from all over the US and for a week provide them with an exhilarating "learn hard-play hard" experience! The participants are given the opportunity to learn from amazing lecturers (not me, the other ones!), who lead great discussions on Jewish Identity and Philosophical fundamentals. This is all done, while hiking and exploring the most beautiful outdoor locations in the US and Canada! The logistics are so well taken care of that no one on the trip ever notices them- a sure sign of their success. By the end of the Heritage Retreats experience, the group leaves feeling an incredible bond between one another as well as feeling empowered Jewishly to step up and step forward in their personal lives and communities

I had an AMAZING time at the Heritage Retreats in Arizona. We had the MOST inspiring teachers, their intellect astounded me and made me really think about some important concepts, not just in Judaism, but in life. The mentors were also amazing, they were so caring and truly hoped to see everyone see the beauty in Judaism that they saw. This retreat gave me an opportunity I haven't had in a long time, to simply learn beautiful things in a beautiful place with beautiful people. I'm so blessed to have had this opportunity, as are all my other fellow retreaters. Thank you so much for such an amazing and MEANINGFUL experience, I have reflected on my experience and taken so much back with me!

I am very grateful to have attended the Heritage Retreat Sedona program this past summer. I went not really knowing what to expect and felt a bit out of touch with Judaism. I hoped the experience would give me a better sense of my connection to Judaism and also help me make a decision about the extent to which I wanted to incorporate Judaism into my life. Despite my being unfamiliar with most of the concepts that we discussed, I still found the topics fascinating and easy to follow along with. I found the speakers discussions to be both engaging and very applicable to my life. I took away a great deal from the speakers, the Rabbi, and the other participants of the program. The program would not have been what it was if not for the extremely passionate teachers and tutors, who at any moment were ready to answer my questions, clarify a topic, or even offer me advice.
Heritage Retreats fostered an environment of openness in discussion and sparked my curiosity for Jewish learning. As a result, I decided to become more involved in Jewish life on campus at the University of Georgia. It was a very special experience and I made many new friends through it from all over the country. From Heritage I learned many invaluable lessons and would recommend this program to anyone, no matter their Jewish background or past experiences.

I attended a trip to Poland to better understand what happened during World War Two. I expected some history and perhaps some cultural engagement. What I found instead was an extremely knowledgeable and passionate group of leaders who were able to intellectually emotionally and spiritually connect me to my heritage through Poland. We rejoiced at the life that flourished in Poland as well as carefully delving deep into our emotions that visits to the death camps evoked. In context for both what it meant then as well as a distinct appreciation for what it means for me today, I came away with a new found appreciation for life and my heritage.

They taught me how to reincorporate religion into my life, through educating me and encouraging me to make informed choices. I firmly believe that my experience with them this summer will push me to become a holistic physician, providing care for the mind, body, and spirit of my future patients.

I had an amazing time on my Heritage Retreat in Sedona, AZ in summer 2014. I went already having a strong connection to Judaism based on a love for the Jewish community and an identification with my ancestors. I left having discovered a more personal connection; throughout the week I learned how Judaism can help me be a better person and how I can incorporate it into my daily life. I also saw this firsthand by interacting with the incredibly kind and passionate fellow participants, tutors, and teachers that were on the retreat with me. The teachers took every available moment in the day to talk with me one-on-one, and I have stayed in touch with several of the tutors and teachers. My Heritage Retreat was an invaluable experience that I will always keep with me as I continue exploring my connection to Judaism.

I went to Banff National Park in Canada with Heritage Retreats. We hiked, camped, white water rafted, and much more. It was honestly one of the best trips/programs I have ever done. The views I have seen will forever be in my mind. Everyday I learned and experienced something new. It is a very open environment with something for everyone. A lot of the wisdom/knowledge that I learned have stuck with me. The program instructors are diverse and offer something for every participant. I recommend this program because of its amazing excursions and educational opportunities that are gained from attending. I hope to participate in more programs in the future.

Heritage Retreats was a most incredible experience for me! I went a little nervous, not knowing what to expect, and came back with such fulfillment and gratitude. It was everything I had needed and more! In just one week, I met so many incredible people, teachers and peers, people who I plan to stay in touch with forever. The scenery was breathtakingly beautiful, the activities were really fun, the times we had together were precious, and all of that will remain in my best of memories. But what affects me most perhaps to this day are the lessons we had. They really stimulated my mind and inspired me to think beyond. I gained so much insight in that short time. I gained valuable lessons that I will take with me for life! I would highly recommend this program to anyone who's considering it. It is really worth it.

It was very well coordinated and organized with directors and teachers who not only act as incredible mentors but reach out to you as friends. I went on this retreat this past summer in Sedona, Arizona. My surroundings may have been beautiful, but the beautiful moments I created with the girls I went with surpassed any of my expectations. I went on this trip not knowing anyone and I left with a whole group of girls that I can now call my sisters. This is a phenomenal experience and unique opportunity for students to explore their Jewish roots in an accepting and loving atmosphere. Something that made the experience extremely productive to personal spiritual growth is the focus on the student 'as a whole'. The trips, lessons, one-on-one discussions are all geared and specifically directed to each student on a personal level which addresses the student's individual needs, keeping in mind her background, interests, and personality! Heritage Retreats has the three components of an impactful, educational trip. One, the staff is truly concerned about each and every participant. I was privileged to have deep, meaningful discussions with knowledgable women that have so much wisdom to share. Two, the people that attend Heritage trips are intelligent, mature and are excited about learning more about themselves and the world we all inhabit. This atmosphere is ideal for growth and good ole' fashioned fun. Third, the locations of the trip are just breathtaking! Being able to walk 5 minutes and stumble upon a beautiful mountain overlooking the ocean is a privilege that the trip grants to its participants. Linking beauty and growth is a connection that Heritage does intentionally because you really cannot have one without the other. Heritage Retreats is a very unique program that needs to be cherished and shared with as many people as possible.

heritage retreats is an amazing program. i was recruited in my school to go on the trip with these guys. they gave us an experience we will never forget. we got to hear incredibly insightful speeches on topics not usually discussed on a daily basis. they have really smart orators, who are engaging and very approachable so you can hear the speech and see the man in action applying what he teaches. those professionals are around the campus so one can form a lifelong relationship with men much wiser than ourselves. this program is a must for one beginning his search for spirituality. for not only are the speeches so informative but the program is so much fun. getting an education in surfing was exhilarating and professional golf lessons on a gorgeous golf course was awesome. and it doesn't end there, they are constantly making functions throughout the year to keep up the relationships that were formed. it seems as when one program is finished, i get a new email informing me of another! the boys come out of this program spiritually charged and with lives that will never be the same. inspired would be an understatement. i gained immensely as a mentor and would love to be involved with such a program forever. thank you heritage retreats.

I didn't know what to expect. For weeks, I studied the website. Eventually, I decided to apply and prepared myself to spend one, long week in the wilderness with a group of Jewish women.

It wasn't summer camp and it wasn't school. It was a learning opportunity and a place to reset my religious biological clock. Each day, we met with a variety of world renown scholars and teachers, and carefully debated and learned about ideas ranging from sacred text to societal norms. As the week continued, I found myself excited for every class and every moment to interact with women from different backgrounds countries and observance levels.

Heritage Retreats surpassed my expectations. Instead of the traditional classroom/school setting, the teachers provided me with the enough tools for me to make my own decisions. In fact, the week was not long as I originally thought, but rather not long enough. Heritage Retreats gave me more than a weeks worth of memories. The other participants and have a special connection, and I value the contributions to my future as a Jewish woman.

Food was great. I really appreciated our ability to explore on our own too.

My experience at Heritge Retreats was truly amazing. Everyone on the trip came from a different part of the country, yet we all seemed to get to know one another so well and have made friendships that will last. The topics that were taught we not only inspiring, but really touched our hearts. I felt re-connected to my Jewish roots and learned things frrom that basics, to really deep and spriritual subjects. The program was in an setting that made all the girls feel comfortable and relaxed. This created an enviornment that enabled us to be able to really focus on the material we were learning and the people around us we were connecting with. It was really a life changing and touching experience that I will always remember.

I was first given the opportunity to attend Heritage Retreats in Santa Barbara, CA in December 2009. A last minute addition to the program, it really blew me away. What I thought was going to be a fun week long vacation in California turned out to be just that, and so much more. It was the perfect balance of fun and learning, but it was the people (both staff and program participants) that really made it amazing. It was so great, I even went back the next year!

Heritage Retreats provided me with a phenomenal learning experience that allowed me to grow as an individual while giving of myself to others. The program afforded many college age students to explore their heritage in a non judgmental, relaxing, and stress free environment. Heritage Retreats is a one-of-a-kind program. I attended the program twice and it quite literally changed my life. The activities, the learning, the inspiring lectures - all had a profoundly positive impact on me. I have grown immensely in my own Jewish observance as a result of Heritage Retreats and now speak confidently with family, friends, colleagues, co-workers when they ask me questions about Judaism. Heritage Retreats has given me the gifts of awareness of and pride in my religion, and I am eternally grateful to them.

I attended Heritage Retreats at the sincere advice of my Rabbi. I come from a Secular/Reform Jewish background and hadn't gotten the complete education I was looking for. So, as I got there, I met all the women who came from different educational and observant backgrounds. I was pleasantly surprised by the sincere acceptance if everyone. We studied Judaism from some of the best teachers I have ever had. I learned about the Book of Ruth, the Book of Shmuel, Breshis, Women's spiritual roles, and a number of other intense and incredible classes. And when our minds were spinning full of fascinating information, we would "take a break" and white water raft on a beautiful river by Lake Tahoe and hike through the beautiful paths. This trip inspired me to never stop learning, and now I'm currently in Israel studying at seminary, all thanks to the inspiration from Heritage Retreats.

I attended Heritage Retreats six months after 9/11 and in the midst of forming a new company. The two week spiritual retreat was what my soul needed and have become a better person for it. Laughter and finding humor is a Jewish tradition and we exercised this a great deal over the two weeks. Of course enhancing my knoweldge of the Jewish traditions with talmudic study only furthered the experience. Heritage Retreats is one of those little known organizations that makes a great influence on those who attend. Ten years later I am still recalling those lenghty discussions, compelling lectures, and of course all the fun.

i had the wonderful privelage to be a volunteer on the heritage retreats program in yosemite, ca this summer, and found it to be an incredible, possibly life-changing experience for everyone invloved. the program gave people from all areas of the USA an opportunity to come togethor and connect to their roots, and in the process connect to each other and gain potentially life long relationships. the significance of the heightened connection to our roots that all of us on the program have gained is clear already, and will only become more evident as time goes on, and we are able to find meaning in our lives, and the signifcance of the deep relationships that have been forged will only grow as everyone on the program knows they have a support group to count on moving forward in their lives.

Heritage Retreats was an amazing opportunity for me to explore my Jewish roots, and learn in a supportive setting of motivated students and exceptional teachers. Camping and hiking while surrounded by the breathtaking scenery at Yosemite National Park provided a positive new experience to many of the students who were city dwellers, and also fostered camaraderie among the group. The wide range of personalities, backgrounds, and origins of the students and staff made for a very memorable experience, and forged friendships across the country. I request that Heritage Retreats is counted in the Education for All campaign.

Heritage retreats went above and beyond in many aspects, and provided me with Jewish learning and discovery that would become a springboard for so much more.

First, top teachers from around the country (and the world) dedicated their time and energies to give thought-provoking, inspiring shiurim.

Second, the staff was warm and approachable. They initiated deep conversations, continuing the learning from the shiurim.

Third, the experience was set in a beautiful environment, and sprinkled with fun activities to facilitate meeting the other participants (some of whom I am still in touch with after several years).

The retreat leaders ensured that upon returning to my hometown, I would have contacts to continue my Jewish learning.

The retreat inspired me to spend a year in Israel learning. Since then, I have participated in a one-year, full-time Jewish fellowship, married my wonderful Jewish huband, and we are raising our beautiful baby boy in a vibrant Jewish home.

I had such a wonderful time at Hertiage. The teachers were phenomenal, and had time for all of our questions, whether in or out of class. Getting other girls who were more experiences to be our tutors and mentors really helped us continue learning, and most of all we had someone back home who we could relate to (since the tutors were generally from our state/area). The activities were also so much fun, and gave us an opportunity to hang out and grow closer. This week was so inspirational, and was definitely a catalyst in my learning and personal growth.

If i could pick one experience that boosted my confidence, helped me get in touch with who I really am, inspire others and be inspired by others, it is Heritage Retreats. This program had incredible teachers that were open minded and wanted to help each individual grow. At the end of the program, everyone said what the experience meant to them. There was a person who got up the courage to get out of an abusive relationship she was in because of this program. There were people who felt like they finally knew who they were and what they wanted out of life.

As a practicing litigation attorney, it was challenging for me to take the time off necessary for me to participate in the Heritage Retreats program. However, I made the necessary arrangements, and can honestly say that it was life changing and one of greatest adventures I have ever been invited to participate in. From an educational aspect, the faculty who staffed the trip I attended were all, literally, leaders and world class experts in their respective fields. I learned a great from the various classes offered, and remain in close contact with many of the teachers to this day, some of whom even made special arrangements to attend my recent wedding. In terms of the excursion, there options sufficient to satisfy even the most adventurous among us. Heritage Retreats is an excellent program administered by a highly trained and experience group of individuals who possess the skill and ability to effectively touch their target audience. Most charitable organizations deal with physical, medical, or social needs. Heritage Retreats deals with souls; that is, it rescues and motivates - for a lifetime - young souls that are drifting away from their Judaic roots and may be lost altogether. Rabbi Kreitenberg, a visionary and doer, is an inspiring leader that has devoted his life to helping young college students understand, appreciate, enjoy and return to the religion of their forefathers. It is a task of a high order and he feels greatly saddened when he has to turn away applicants because funds are not available to include them in existing programs. If you feel that saving a Jewish soul is a worthy task Heritage Retreats should be part of your charitable giving.

As an administrator for Heritage Retreats for a few years, it was my privilege to be a part of this organization. There are many wonderful nonprofit organizations, but Heritage Retreats is much more than that. The staff and volunteers are truly altruistic. They dedicate, literally, thousands of hours in preparation and actual time at the retreat to ensure the highest quality educational and experiential retreat for its students. The reward for this hard labor is in seeing the students personal growth in addition to their enhanced understanding and appreciation of their timeless heritage. The cultural divide that exists between the various students dissipates in just moments at the start of each program. Stereotypes fall away and friendship and camaraderie hold sway. I recommend this program for any Jewish student or young professional that is passionate about their Judaism and would like to learn more about their religion.

Two years ago, I attended a Heritage retreat in Northern California. I did not know what to expect as I am not a religious Jew. From the first moment, I was greeted by a group of staff, fellow attendees and volunteers with respect and understanding. I was not judged and I was not proselytized to. Soon we became friends, immersed in learning about Judaism and the Jewish way of life. I attended classes with teachers who were at once caring and intellectual. I had many questions for them and they patiently took the time to answer. They made me feel welcome. They made we feel as if I was part of a big family. They made me proud to be a Jew. I can not say that I was converted into a religious Jew - I was not. But, I can say that I am proud to have a group of people who are smart and caring and know how to have fun. Many of the relationships that developed at the retreat have continued to develop into lasting friendships.

Heritage Retreats changed my life! They welcomed me in with open arms and even flew me to california when i could not afford to pay. they did the same for my boyfriend, to attend the mens program, who also could not afford the cost. from the moment i got there the inspiration began. the location in the mountains of california offered a remote place removed from the confusion of secular life. things became clear. the facility was beautiful! i have been to other places, that were run down and without basic plumbing. heritage was like a ski lodge. with beautiful lounges, classrooms, and dorms. and the grounds, with the many fields and trails, lend themselves perfectly to the experience of self evaluation and discovery. but the real jewel at heritage is the community that forms. there are the teachers, the rabbis, and the madrichot all there to impart wisdom and understanding on the students. never have i met a more compassionate and patient group of people who give of themselves and expect nothing in return. the classes are eye opening and changed my view of the world forever. i saw truth and got clarity on the purpose of life. i made life long friends whom i am still in contact with to this day. i have been invited back, and if it were not for the constraints of my job, i would have gone without hesitation. there could be no better charity in my opinion.

I had a very positive experience on my Heritage Retreats trip in the winter of 2007. It was incredibly worthwhile endeavor in which I gained much wisdom about Judaism from the many talented rabbi's and other participants on the trip. There was a wide range of people on the trip and the activities planned ensured that there would be something of interest for everyone. If you are on an outdoors type of person this is an even better trip as there are many opportunities for great competition on the athletic fields in addition to the great hikes and potential beautiful scenary. Perhaps it is this environment that helps you engage in such meaningful and exciting discussions or perhaps it is the fact that we are taking a break from our busy lives to get together (even as a group of strangers - at first) and talk about things that really matter. This trip will help you find who you are and what it is important to you. This trip is a true get-away, both physically and meta-physically and it will stick with me for the rest of my life.

I came to Heritage somewhat in turmoil. I had started to wander down a path toward observant Judaism, but I really wondered if it would it be possible to maintain my sense of self and individuality while making a commitment to learn more about my faith and integrate Torah into my life? Could I still be a feminist, a liberal, a social activist AND an observant Jew? Heritage was a wonderful forum to address my questions. The environment really fostered growth and candid discussion. I was able to ask my questions, even those that bordered or crossed clearly over into the heretical, without feeling judged or belittled, and when the answer was not entirely to my liking, I was directed to books and authors who might offer me a different perspective. No, the retreat did not erase every qualm I hold about a Torah-observant lifestyle, but it did fortify my commitment to integrate Torah into my life, introduce me to a wonderful community of people, and give me the spiritual energy to continue to grow, to learn, and to feel wonderfully proud to be a Jew.

Prior to going to the program it seems foolish to take this "Religion" seriously, it felt out of place in today's scientific environment where people strive to give simple explanations for every occurrence. Little by little and especially after Heritage it became apparent that Jewish people and the Jewish life is a little more than just what people see on the surface. On my retreat were a few very secular Jews, a number of very religious Jews and - like me - many in the middle. The program is very respectful of everyone's preferences while maintaining the traditions such as shabbat and Kosher. It was a very educational experience which - most importantly - taught me a lot about myself and my short, medium and longer term spiritual goals. What made it easy for me to learn and absorb was that it was put out there for me to digest and not forced down my throat. Lastly (and importantly) it was a fun time playing sports, taking trips, socializing and just having some leisure away from my busy schedule as a lawyer.

Before going to the program I've already had a religious education from home, eventhough the program was a inspiration for me to keep doing what I was already doing and thaught me that we always have to do more showing me the meaningful of observing the religion and the importance of details that make all difference. I met wonderful girls who in general hadn't have a religious education and came to ask questions, learn and grow. The lectures were fantastic, bringing us general issues from Judaism also the importance and meaning of them. Furthermore the teachers and tutors were always opened to answer our questions and respected each one of us including our education and religious level, showing us the beauty of Judaism and the wonderful things that it have to offer and accomplish in our lives.

Being involved with Heritage Retreats for many years now has enhanced my love for the Jewish people. Watching all types of Jews come together in a non-judgemental, learning and growning environment makes you realize what is really important in life. The program allowed me to meet individuals and establish relationships that i would never have a chance to do otherwise. What could be more meaningful than woman coming together, taking time out of their busy lives to learn and discuss Torah true yedishkeit. Thank you Heritage Retreats for this life altering experience.

As a tutor on Heritage Retreats I had the opportunity to come in contact with a wide range of amazing jews from all over the country and had the pleasure of working with an incredible staff. The setting is always just right, providing a comfortable atmosphere where participants can learn more about their Jewish heritage from world renowned personalities and from a staff of tutors who are more like friends than anything else. As a tutor I have kept in touch with many of the students from the program and continue to be inspired by their willingness to grow and how they have taken what they have gained on Heritage Retreats and made an effort to apply it to their everyday lives. I can honestly say that the moments of inspiration and the relationships I have made on Heritage Retreats are ones that I cherish and will take with me for many years to come.

I went on Heritage quite a while ago, but the experience has stayed with me ever since. Never have I met such amazing down to earth people. The tutors have carried me through my journey and discovery of judaism, and were always there whenever I had questions or needed someone to talk to. Some of them have remained my closest friends till today. Heritage is doing something right, and I really hope that they can continue their much needed programming. Thank you so much for everything!

I've gained tremendously from my experiences at Heritage Retreats. My life has been inspired and enriched by the students, volunteers and teachers I've met. I was amazed at the open-mindedness and courage the students displayed in their willingness to challenge their previous convictions about Judaism. They chose to spend a summer or winter break by taking classes, often without friends, instead of taking a vacation. They didn't flinch from the difficult task of examining their lives and determining what kind of positive changes they could make. I only hope to emulate their example in some way.

It was one of the most amazing educational experiences of my life. I was exposed to a world of ideas, beliefs and concepts I have not understood and stereotyped about. Heritage Retreats not only had amazing world renowned Rabbi's speak, but also had successful and observant businessmen, lawyers and entrepreneurs.

One of the most memorable programs that I have been to -- the setting that was in the Never Neverland Ranch, located on 100 + acres, surrounded by mountains and serenity, one has the perfect atmosphere to be at one and in peace with the spiritual side of the world. The program featured some of the best Balteshuva Rabbis from all over the globe, those that were non-religious themselves once upon a time, and could address many of the issues students had in their life. Some of the most memorable lecturers included Rabbi Gershenfeld and Rabbi Lawrence Kelman. The program itself lasted for 2-3 weeks, but it was the perfect balance between Torah learning and recreational activities which included sauna, pool, chess, and other field trips. The experience at Heritage retreats will be indelible etched in my bouquet of life changing spiritual experiences.
