Causes: Ethnic & Immigrant Centers, Health, Human Services, Immigration
Mission: Our mission is to improve the lives of Portuguese-speaking individuals and families from Massachusetts and help them become contributing, active participants in American society while maintaining strong ethnic identity and a sense of community. MAPS works with and for the Brazilian, Cape Verdean, Portuguese and other Portuguese-speaking communities to increase access and remove barriers to health, education and social services through culturally and linguistically competent direct services, advocacy, leadership and community development.
Results: We served more than 18,000 people in FY 2010.
Target demographics: Portuguese speakers of all backgrounds in Massachusetts, including Brazilians, Cape Verdeans, Portuguese and others. They are all ages and come from a variety of races and ethnicities. Most of MAPS' clients are low-income and live in greater Boston, greater Lowell or the MetroWest area.

Programs: Batterer Intervention, Breast Cancer Prevention, Citizenship Assistance, Domestic Violence Services, Driver Alcohol Education, Elder Services, Energy Efficiency Solutions for Small Businesses, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL, Family Support Services, Immigrant Social Services, HIV Prevention & Education, HIV Counseling & Testing, HIV/AIDS Case Management, HIV Mental Health Project, Portuguese Language Classes, Youth Programs, Advocacy, Translation Services, Notary Public.
