Nonprofit Overview
Mission: The primary purpose of the Friends of the Cadillac Wexford Public Library is to be of service to both the library and the community. We assist the library by providing added funding and sponsoring library programs that promote literacy and enhance the value of the library to the community.
Results: The Friends of the Cadillac Wexford Public Library (FOL) was formed in 2000 by interested community members, to help promote the Library and its vast resources and services to the Cadillac Wexford community. FOL became a 501(c)3 charitable organization in 2004. Friends organize and sponsor programs and activities throughout the year to bring information, culture, and entertainment to our community for both children and adults to encourage visits to the Library as well as to introduce first time visitors, young and old, to the many services that the Cadillac Wexford Public Library has to offer. In 2006, the Friends helped the Library celebrate its 100th anniversary. FOL programs and projects are funded primarily with funds raised through Used Book Sales that are held three times a year and through membership dues. Additional funds are received through grants and donations. Annually, FOL provides funds to the Library for their youth summer reading program and adult summer reading program, a fall special program like visiting reindeer or the Lord of the Gourd pumpkin artist, and books and marketing materials. Funds are also used for special projects for both the community and the Library. In the past, FOL has supported the placement of a Library sign on the lawn, an Albert Einstein quote on the front of the library, a sculpture by the entry door featuring a little girl on a stack of books, and a smart board for the community meeting room.
