This nonprofit provides food, yes, but they also provide many different gardening and educational learning opportunities. The tool share is a really nice feature. I have been a volunteer occasionally here and enjoy the people, the mission, and the support they provide the community.
There are so many reasons to love and appreciate Mother Hubbard's Cupboard! Community neighbors are nourished not only by the fresh produce they can access but also by the educational opportunities to learn and participate. I have worked with Farm to Family and unloaded vegetables straight from the Farmer's Market at the Hub knowing they will go home with excited recipients. And I've taken a cooking class there, where I both learned, ate and had a lot of fun. The gardens are beautiful and inspiring as are the staff and volunteers. What a jewel!
Mother Hubbard's Cupboard is an organization that provides a level of support that is unique. The way the program is set up to respect all those in need of support is a model that I think really sets it apart from other programs. When I was a volunteer at The Hub I was able to see first hand the impact this organization makes in the Bloomington community. Although my ability to volunteer changed, my support for the organization did not and I continue to donate on a monthly basis.
I have been a Fellow at the Hub for a bit now and I love the work that I get to do. The Hub treats patrons with a dignity and understanding that I have not seen elsewhere. Not only does the Hub address immediate food insecurity needs, it also focuses on the root causes of the issue.
The Hub is an amazing community resource for anyone looking to garden, cook, or learn! Workshops are offered to teach a variety of skills while providing a community space to gather. Patrons feel seen and heard at this organization.
The Hub makes a huge impact in the community and on the lives of volunteers, donors and patrons.
What an amazing non-profit, building community, supporting local farmers, providing healthy foods and education to Bloomington residents. Kudos to the staff and volunteers for all they do to serve a community in need.
I've been a part of Mother Hubbard's Cupboard in many ways over the years beginning as a patron many years ago, and currently as a board member. Watching, and being even a small part of, this organization become an integral part of our community is something that I'm endlessly proud of.
I've been with this organization for a while now. It started as a small organization with only 2 or so staff and has now grown into a larger location while serving many more families. The evolution of the staff has been nothing short of remarkable, and seeing the people it serves and learning their stories is nothing short of amazing.
The staff and volunteers are really what makes this place what it is: a community of amazing people looking to make a difference. Working with them has helped me forge so many new friendships and learn so many stories that I will take with me. It is a life-changing organization and working at Mother Hubbard's Cupboard continues to be a life-changing experience.
