Mission: CAPA breaks the destructive cycle of child abuse and neglect by equipping parents, children and their caregivers with necessary skills, knowledge and values.
Results: In 2014, the Open Arms Children's Home was home to 69 children. The average length of stay was 67 days. On average, there were 12 children in residence each day. CAPA distributed 29 Pack 'n Plays and provided safe sleep training to 38 community members. CAPA reached 6,423 youth through multi-session best-practice education classes. 47 parents attending Triple P parenting classes, 128 received modified Triple P whie incarcerated and 28 families regularly participated our parent support group, P.S. We Love You. 144 mandated professionals received training in child abuse reporting requirements.
Target demographics: parents, children and their caregivers. School based programs target 1st, 3rd and 5th grades; the shelter serves birth to 21 years of age; adolescent pregnancy prevention is puberty through 19; Men of Strength (MOST) serves middle and high school males.
