My son is a person with Down Syndrome and has been riding at Celtic Charms for more than years and the improvement in his horsemanship and his overall abilities has been dramatic. He follows instruction well and has gone from a casual rider to someone who is fully invested in his riding. He loves to go and ride, and looks forward to going and the staff is excellent it tailoring his instruction to his individual needs.
A truly excellent program.

Celtic Charms is an excellent organization. They have a positive attitude that permeates the organization. Everyone is genuinely concerned about the students and their success. They are always willing to go the extra mile to ensure that riding is a positive experience for their students. No matter what the student does from riding, to any of the other tasks that are associated with horseback riding, they are always positive and reaffirming. They are an excellent organization that truly cares about the success of their students.
My daughter has been going to Celtic Charms for almost four years now after experiencing a traumatic incident at age 3. It was recommended that she come to horseback riding therapy by both her therapist at the time and the prosecutor's office. I just wanted to see my little girl back to the happy go luck child she was prior to this incident, but was very fearful that might never happen. As soon as I stepped foot on the grounds at Celtic Charms I know that this was a very special place. Spending time at the barn, riding her horse, and grooming her horse was now her passion. I was happy to see her in her zone and smile again! Not only did horseback riding therapy bring a smile to her face, the horses brought an unspoken uncondidtional love into her life and knowing that she was in control of her horse and was a care taker for them, gave her empowerment! She is now regaining her self-esteem, her confidence in herself and a passion for caring for animals. My daughter is healing from this incident thanks to Celtic Charms therapeutic horsemanship and their amazing staff! This place is a miracle and I'm so grateful for it and all the wonderful people who change the lives of these children and their families!
For three years my son, who is autistic, has been taking lessons at Celtic Charms. He has become an accomplished rider. His core strength, balance and posture have greatly improved. His passion for horses has flourished. We have participated in a number of "special needs programs" but none of them had the resounding belief and commitment to children mastering skills. Celtic Charms is different, they believed my child could learn to ride, regardless of his disabilities, and because they believe in him, he is able to do so.
Celtic Charms changes lives. My niece started riding at Celtic Charms when she was 4 years old. She has now gone on to non therapeutic riding (or able body riding) but the love and connection that she developed with the horse will be for the rest of her life. She learned self control, built core strength, patience, coping skills for sensory processing disorder.. and so much more. The staff, instructors and volunteers are truly one of a kind. The horses are amazing and healing. When you walk through the doors you immediately feel the magic! She could have never done so well anywhere else!
Our fifteen year-old grandson has been a student at Celtic Charms for nearly eight years. From the moment he was placed on a horse, Chris became aware of the comfort and emotional connection that these beautiful animals can provide. Together with the caring, professional instructors at Celtic Charms, he was given the opportunity to learn success, acceptance and the skills of horsemanship. Our family and community have the utmost appreciation of Celtic Charms. Thank you. Cheryl and Fred Briard

Celtic Charms Therapeutic Horsemanship in Howell, NJ has been a godsend in the positive development and the quality of life of our grandson, Christopher. He began riding at Celtic Charms when they first began their program in Howell. Chris really grew up there, learning about respect for animals, the environment, his teachers and himself. Growing up with Asperger's Syndrome is tough, the staff at Celtic Charms have helped Chris every step of the way, and have also helped our family, too. This Program and its skilled and caring staff have been pivotal in our grandson's maturity and success, we will never be able to thank them enough. Cheryl Cramer Briard
I cannot say enough good things about Celtic Charms. My daughter has been riding there for the past 8 months and absolutely loves it. She had started riding at another facility at the age of 5 when we lived in another state. When we relocated to NJ we found Celtic Charms. I can't help but compare Celtic Charms to our previous experience. They are so professional, and so good and providing instruction and working at the students pace it is amazing! I would have to say that the previous facility we went to was basically a glorified pony ride. Not Celtic Charms! They push my daughter to work hard but never to take on more than she is ready for. They are very safety conscious and caring for the students. My daughter has a huge smile on her face when she finishes her lesson every week and she her riding skills have progressed noticeably. Her core has strengthened and her gross and fine motor skills have improved while attending Celtic Charms. The facility is also very clean and organized and the animals are well cared for. I cannot say enough good things about Celtic Charms.
My 11 year old animal loving son, Logan, began riding at Celtic Charms in June 2017 - it's the best thing I ever did for him. He absolutely loves it there and gets so excited to see "his horse" Finn. Logan hugs and kisses him, rides him, bathes and brushes him, removes his saddle and returns it to the tack room - he is not only learning to ride but is also learning responsibility in caring for Finn. Beth is wonderful and during one of his sessions she placed dinosaur pictures around the riding arena so Logan could tell her about them as they walked by, they toss bean bags, ring toss and also work on posture. The staff and volunteers are so nice and the grounds and barn are beautiful. After Logan is finished riding he loves to look for the cats and pet them. I highly recommend Celtic Charms we love, love, love it!!!!!
Celtic Charms is absolutely wonderful! We have been taking our son there since they opened. We had been riding elsewhere, but when we heard Christine was opening her own place, we switched even though it was a 45 minute drive each way. This is what it's supposed to be like! A warm, friendly, inviting environment, with staff and volunteers that are professional and caring, flexible and understanding, yet always maintaining high expectations from our kids. My son is really riding a horse now as opposed to being led around the ring, never really being pushed. He is proud of himself and looks forward to riding each week! I can't say enough about Celtic Charms! We love it!!!
This is the best place to leave your troubles at the door and enjoy the feeling you get when you enter the barn.

We heard about Celtic charms through my sons grandparents where his aunt first started when they opened!!!!! Nolan was diagnosed with global developmental delay and apraxia.... Nolan goes to PT, OT, and speech multiple times a week; so when he was 4years old we tried out therapeutic horse riding and it has been nothing shy of an amazing experience!!!! Our son was delayed in all physical things from not learning how to walk till he was 15 months old with much assitance to now riding a horse and now having all sorts of muscle and definition! The second he sees his horse Merlin, his face lights up!!! He had no confidence when he started and even less confidence when talking... he now constantly talks (still not correctly) about horse back riding!! Mr.Bill and Mrs.Christine have been amazing the 2 1/2 years we've been coming! They do little things that go a long way!!! They treat our family like we are their family!!! They are the warmest people we've had the pleasure of meeting and teaching our son!!! Any questions we have, they always help answering and if not they point us in the direction to help! They know so much about the horses and are constantly teaching us something new! All the volunteers are also just as amazing!!

Celtic Charms has been a wonderful experience for myself and my wife since we moved here from NY. The staff and volunteers are terrific and have helped my wife who has MS with her balance. The owners, Christine and Bill, are hands -on individuals who are friendly and extremely knowledgeable in all facets of horse life. A great find for us, highly recommended.
I am a 57 year old woman diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis over 30 years ago. Have been using Hippotherpy on a weekly basis for about 7 years.
Recently relocated to Lavallette NJ and am thrilled to have found Celtic Charms! I previously rode in Warwick NY @ Winslow Therapeutic .
My instructor , Beth at Celtic Charms challenges and teaches me so much ! Great facility, great staff & wonderful volunteers!
About us: Since its founding in 1995, The School for Children with Hidden Intelligence (SCHI) has grown to become a world-renowned, cutting-edge therapeutic and educational center meeting the unique needs of over 600 severely-disabled, medically fragile, and socially-emotionally challenged children & young adults ranging in age from birth to 21+. As a state-approved organization, specifically educating multiply handicapped & underprivileged children & adults from throughout the Tristate region & beyond, SCHI’s aim is to try and alleviate the suffering of the most vulnerable members of the community.
Celtic Charms continues to be absolutely instrumental in helping us to achieve our goals with our severely handicapped students. Specifically, we continue to note remarkable improvements in our student’s posture, (via improved trunk muscle strength), their confidence, and their motivation to try and participate in new experiences. We continue to note that many of our students initiated their sessions at Celtic Charms with great fear and anxiety, but now look forward to the trip and all of the aspects of their weekly experience.
Additionally, our educational and therapeutic staff has noticed that whether our student rides a horse or receives a ride in the horse drawn cart, they are markedly calmer after their experience. With other students, it has been discussed that their trips to Celtic Charms have increased their verbal skills by bolstering their self-confidence, and allowing them to take on a new role of caretaker since they now can assist with brushing and grooming the horses. We can't thank Celtic Charms Therapeutic Horsemanship for all that they have done and continue to do for our special needs students!

My son has autism. He started riding at Celtic charms when he was young. He didn't have much language I truly believe riding has contributed I getting my son to talk. He has learned how to follow instructions and be a charge. Everyone is so special kind and patient at Celtic charms
This is why we keep coming
I have been associated with Celtic Charms from the very beginning. I have watched countless students, parents, volunteers, and friends come through these doors and have seen first hand the magic of this place. Celtic Charms provides a wonderful link between horses and special needs. I have always been a horse person and now I am here working on the facility and I am lucky that I get to see the benefit first hand.
Celtic Charms is truly the kind of place that changes lives. It changed my life. I think everyone that walks though this door finds a sense of peace here. The horses are the real magic and what they can do for the students. Everyone benefits from this welcoming environment. Volunteers, students, parents, siblings... It is not just this place to pass by and wonder, "Hey what do they do there"? Come and see for yourself... I am glad I stopped here and volunteered my time.
My sister rode at Celtic Charms starting at age 4. I am not sure how everything works but I know that Celtic Charms helped her not feel so "squirrely" as she likes to call it. Now my sister is able to move on to a more advanced riding program with some amazing skills that she learned at Celtic Charms. I don't think that she could have learned to ride anywhere else. This is where she needed to be. I don't go there very often but when I do I want to be a part of it. When I am old enough I plan to volunteer and help others overcome challenges.
I am always blown away by how many good people volunteer precious time at Celtic Charms -- but then after you spend a little time there and see how magical what they do is -- it all becomes clear. As a non-profit everything donations and they need every single dollar we can find to help them continue to provide children and adults with disabilities a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment to learn horseback riding while addressing other challenges. You really just have to see it!
Celtic Charms is a warm and welcoming place where everyone fits in and is appreciated. As a volunteer, it is truly gratifying to watch students improve over time and to see how happy they are to ride and take care of their horses.

Celtic Charms is aptly named, for it truly is a magical place that transforms people with disabilities into equestrians. While volunteering there I have seen the expressions of joy and pride on the faces of the riders and their family members. There are Celtic Charms students who cannot walk, others who cannot speak, and some who cannot make eye contact; yet their instructors get them onto their mounts or into a horse-driven carriage, and they move freely, focus their minds, strengthen their bodies...and often smile.
The facility is immaculate and the grounds and horses are beautiful, but the best thing about Celtic Charms is the people. The instructors are highly skilled, patient, and passionate about their students, the horses, and the progress they make together. Celtic Charms is a happy, bustling place where everyone is on the same winning team – instructors, family members, volunteers, even the facility manager and the animal attendant. They all play their parts (and so well!) in supporting the organization’s mission to improve the lives of people with disabilities through therapeutic horsemanship.
Celtic Charm is an amazing the place its beautiful and everyone is so professional. My son enjoys the riding and is receiving the therapeutic benefits while having fun. The instructors are so cautious and caring. The animals are well kept. Its a peaceful place that I myself enjoy as well. The overall experience has exceeded my expectations.
Celtic Charms is a warm and loving atmosphere where individuals with disorders can find love and affection from the volunteers and people who run the program and the horses they ride and work with. It is a great facility with a new indoor riding area, outdoor paddocks and wooded trails for the participants enjoyment. Additionally, there are some other animals on the property for all to view, interact with and enjoy. If you are looking for a horse based program for your special someone you would do well to visit and learn about them.
My son was diagnosed with ADHD resulting in him incapable of participating in "team" sports. He lacked the attention span. His doctor suggested an activity focusing on just "him". I researched and being an animal lover (as well as my son), I discovered therapeutic horseback riding lessons. My son began training at Celtic Charms more than three years ago and we couldn't be happier. He excels which has improved his attention capability and his self-esteem. The barn is beautiful, the animals exceptionally well taken care of and the staff, just amazing!!!!!! I recommend Celtic Charms to anyone researching therapeutic horseback riding.
I work as a leader at the barn, leading the horses in the lessons. All the animals a well kept, the barn is kept very clean and all the staff and volunteers are wonderful to work with. Non of the riders, volunteers, or animals are ever put in a situation that makes them feel uncomfortable. Celtic Charm is a wonderful place to volunteer at.
I work mostly with the smaller animals. Beyond horses we have a cow, a pot-bellied pig, two ducks, two barn cats. One of the cats even sometimes let's strangers hold him, but no guarantee he'll always be around. We also have chickens, oh so many chickens. As such we have a limited amount of fresh eggs and yes, they are for sale. Now more than a few of these lovely animals live on parts of the property clients are unlikely to spend much time in. Instead you get the volunteers who are very nice, and the horses that are very nice, and the instructors and the owners and the staff; Everyone is very nice.
Our son has been at Celtic Charms since it opened and has loved every minute he spends there. He has improved in following instructions, looking and directing his horse in the direction he wants to go both on horseback and in the carriage. The staff is very professional and warm, and continues to encourage him to do more. He's developed a strong and comfortable relationship with the horses and it's encouraging to see how he interacts with them.
Celtic Charms has helped our daughter be more assertive with her voice when giving commands to her horse while driving her carriage and become more sure of left and right turns. Her driving teacher,Nancy is very supportive of our daughter and they have a lot of fun along with their learning and along with the rest of the staff and everyone at Celtic Charms are very nice.supportive and professional and knowledgable of their craft and we are very happy our daughter is participating at Celtic Charms.
My daughter who has Asperger's attended a brief summer program there a few years ago. She loved the riding program, but even more loved working with the other animals Celtic Charms also has. She began volunteering there, and over the last few years she has worked primarily with one of the staff, Karen, who has developed in my daughter excellent work skills.
My special needs daughter has been attending Celtic Charms for the past 5 years . From day one, the staff & volunteers have been extremely professional and caring regarding the needs of my child. Not only has my daughter become a avid/advance horseback rider, she has gained increased confidence as well as better posture, increased muscle tone and overall a more mature attitude.
My daughter's mantra is " Dream, Believe & Achieve." Over the years she has won gold medals in the special olympics & handicapped riders association. Her next goal is to learn how to jump with her horse and with the support of our Celtic Charm Team, I know she will achieve this goal in the very near future.
Celtic Charms has become part of our family. They don't look at our kids on what they cannot do, but rather on what they can achieve.
Volunteering at Celtic Charms is an amazing and rewarding choice. I was overwhelmed by how many people just simply give out of the goodness of their hearts to this wonderful non-profit. The horses, instructors, students, parents.... are all what makes this a great family. We are all there for the same reason and have one goal in mind. The founders are incredible people that pour their heart and soul into this organization day after day. Please consider giving anything you can -- even if it is just your time. You have not truly lived unless you give to others .. something that truly cannot be repaid.
We have a great niece Delaney who attends Celtic Charms. Her parents Chris and Geralyn are very excited about it and Delaney loves it. That peaked my interest and when we were visiting we had a opportunity to go to Celtic Charms and watch Delaney's class. Her eyes just sparkled when she saw her horse. She was delighted and very focused at the job at hand. You could just see the pleasure and pride she had. She went right about her tasks -getting ready to ride, riding and putting everything away - even carrying her own saddle. Keep enjoying Delaney :) We live across the USA from Delaney but hope to see her at Celtic Charms the next time we are on the East Coast.
Took a tour with a friend and observed 1st hand how much they are helping her daughter. Such a lovely place with kind staff
My sister has been riding at Celtic Charms and it has seriously changed her life. It has changed our lives... it is such a wonderful, peaceful, loving atmosphere. It is like she is at home with her horse and instructor. She just loves to be there and it is like her challenges go away when she rides. She is so good at it and the positive reinforcement has been great!
Celtic Charms is a magical place. It is our third place we've gone to for lessons and we're not changing from here. It is a wonderful environment to grow in. My son, Charlie is four years old, and has been taking lessons with Ms. Lisa for six months. Charlie loves riding Kira and is so excited to go every week. We live an hour away, but it's well worth the trip. Charlie's disability is Down syndrome which causes low muscle tone and global delays in development. Riding on a horse has strengthened Charlie's core muscles and posture. Ms. Lisa plays games with Charlie using his favorite animal beanie babies, and he makes progress as far as language skills as well. We couldn't be happier.
My son started riding at Celtic Charms a little over a year ago. The welcoming atmosphere as you enter the facility is contagious. The barn is kept immaculate. The horses and all the animals are well cared for and so content. The staff and volunteers are well prepared in their mission of providing therapeutic riding lessons.Their lessons are adapted to each individual student's needs. They have even learned sign language to accommodate my son's deafness. Celtic Charms is so committed and dedicated to making you feel special about your experience here.
CELTIC CHARMS IS A WONDERFUL PLACE AND I AM SO GRATEFUL THAT IT EXISTS!
Celtic Charms is a fantastic place to receive riding lessons. The staff is prompt, and extremely knowledgeable. It has a fun loving, warm, friendly atmosphere. Having been to many barns in New Jersey, I can safely say that Celtic Charms is like no other. A top notch facility with well groomed, and well mannered horses. I would recommend Celtic Charms to any current, or potential riders.
My cousin rides once a week. Celtic charms truly makes each therapeutic experience a life changer in each child's life. Kira has become a household name and she looks forward to caring for her as well. She has not only gone riding for a therapeutic break, but made a lifelong friend and has a dream of owning, riding, and caring for her own horse . She is five and enjoys posting and is eager to learn about all the aspects that go into the horses and their domain. The staff is incredible! You can truly tell when someone's passion is their motivator and which Christine , the happiness she has for Celtic charms and the organization they've built. The facility is beautiful, clean, well kept, and you can tell all the hard work that goes into making Celtic charms such a life changer for my little buddy.
My daughter rides once a week and loves it. The people are wonderful (from the owners to the volunteers). Very clean, the horses look great and well kept. The only reason I give it 5 stars is because there are not 10 stars.
Must start by saying how wonderful and fulfilling Celtic Charms has become to me . I started volunteering and didn't realize what an impact riding and spending time w a horse can make. I've seen children come alive when they are riding and grooming the horses. The farm is beautiful and the staff couldn't be more helpful. I walked into this just to volunteer but the staff is so great w so many individuals and their needs, that I find myself in awe. Everyone is so helpful and knowledgable that they answer all my questions and I go home learning something new everyday .Its a wonderful place and just knowing the difference they are making to even just one child is really a blessing..
I've been a board member since the inception of Celtic Charms. Because of the inspiring commitment of the proprietors, two people I did not know before becoming a board member, I decided early on in my involvement to also volunteer at the facility every week. I leave there each week humbled by the generosity of the proprietors, moved by the patience of the teaching staff, aand grateful to be a small part of this organization.
My daughter started riding lessons in October at one per week. She is now up to four and volunteers on the weekend. The staff and volunteers are amazing, have watched my daughter grow in poise, self esteem, confidence and maturity since starting. It is neat, clean and inviting. The viewing area is outstanding and enjoy watching my daughter during her lessons. Bill and Christine have created a working farm in an otherwise suburban area exposing the students to new and exciting learning experiences. It is also nice to see the Special Education classes from local schools participate in job sampling activities.
What a pleasure it is to visit Celtic Charms each week! We've been going there now for a little less than a year, and our daughter loves it - but the truth is - we all do!
First, Celtic Charms is like stepping into a whole different world. You forget you're in central Jersey. It's a full working farm. The stable is kept as immaculate as a hospital. The facilities are great. There's a comfortable observation room where you can watch students ride and "play games" - though each 'game" the student plays works on an important skill to become a great rider. After spending part of the session in the indoor barn (something like 125' x 250'), the students hit the trails. The sessions could be longer, but my daughter can't wait to come back each week. It's the best hour of the week for her.
The staff of Celtic Charms is what really sets itself apart. Everyone there is so nice! Each person you meet truly loves what they do - and it shows in their dedication to the students. Most of the staff there are volunteers so they definitely care; but the owners - Christine and Bill - are absolutely wonderful. Everyone takes excellent care of the students, the facilities, and of course the animals. They all are so patient and considerate with each student, giving them the encouragement they need.
If you’re looking for a place to take your child for therapeutic horsemanship, Celtic Charms is an excellent facility - and the people there make you feel so welcome.
The first thing I must say about Celtic Charms is that it has been a blessing for our family. Our daughter has been forever changed by having this become part of her life. The facility is amazing. A clean, safe, and welcoming environment that truly does what it claims to do, "Bring joy and personal achievement". If you are on the fence about trying therapeutic horsemanship, please visit the facility and take a tour. It will just take you minutes to realize that it is a unique place. We truly look forward to our riding day every week. Everyone at Celtic is incredible. The horses are carefully selected and then each client is matched perfectly with their horse. I want to encourage you to see the difference with Celtic. There are so many wonderful places out there that are trying to do what they are doing here.
The difference is the people that are behind the scenes.
The love and dedication of each and every person that walks in there everyday. They make every day and every lesson count. Our instructor motivates our daughter with patience and encouragement. She talks about what she has learned all week and can't wait to go back and do it all over again week to week. I know we have found a forever home here. I will even volunteer over the summer and my daughter will never be too far away from her second home, Celtic Charms!
Celtic Charms is a blessing for so many of us! They are changing lives!
The facility is a beautiful clean safe environment for people and animals alike. All the animals are very well cared for, and the staff is not only competent but friendly. They care deeply about their mission. It's a pleasure to work in that envirnment!
I'm making great strides there. I used to just ride, but now I'm Carriage Driving! The people are also friendly there. And If there's an issue, it's fixed.
The people at Celtic Charms are knowledgeable, dedicated, and caring. They have supported my special needs daughter and helped her to strengthen her core and improve her balance while also having fun. Riding the horse is the highlight of my daughter's week.
Celtic Charms afforded my Adaptive Physical Education students an incredible experience.
We brought our class which has students with ASD, downs syndrome, CP and other physical challenges to Celtic Charms for a class trip. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable and was capable of tending to every specific need of each child. When we arrived at Celtic Charms, we were greeted by a cheerful staff as all of our medical clearance waivers were checked thoroughly. Because we had a larger class, we were divided into three groups. One group attended a tour of the beautiful farm, where we learned about all of the animals and the inter-workings of a horse farm. The second group had a "hands on" petting experience with a pony named "Merlin' as we read him a book.
The third group was taken into the ring to "saddle up" where two very experienced instructors helped alleviate any doubts about getting on a horse as they instructed the students on the necessary basics of riding. Students were able to ride their horse (with walkers) around the ring until they were comfortable enough to go trail riding.
Our students can't stop talking about their trip to Celtic Farms and keep asking when we are going back.
This organization is truly exemplary of what a non profit should be providing for its target group...a beautiful, safe, facility... an experienced, trained staff... and a memory to last a lifetime for it's visitors.
Thank you so much for allowing us to share in the joy of therapeutic horsemanship at its best!
We cannot thank Celtic Charms enough for all of the support that everyone has given my daughter over the past couple of years. Everyone always greets you with a smile and makes you feel so welcome. We all feel so at home when we go to the barn and this is all thanks to all the terrific people at Celtic Charms. My daughter came to Celtic Charms simply hoping that she could learn how to ride and has learned so much more. Thank you again to everyone at Celtic Charms and of course to all of the wonderful horses too.
Kudos to Celtic Charms and the great work they do. As a long-time professional equestrian and show barn owner, I was astonished when I first visited Celtic Charms. The pristine facility, the well groomed and cared for horses, and most of all, the accomplishments of their students are all nothing short of amazing. I have helped Celtic Charms with shows, and have sent my students there to volunteer at various events. I even sent them a lesson pony because I trust Celtic Charms to take great care of him and I strongly believe in their important program.
I have been trustee of Celtic Charms since the beginning and have watched t the program become a premier facility in a few short years. This is a testament to the untiring and always caring volunteers and staff. As a riding professional I am still touched by the ability of Celtic Charms to use horses as a vehicle to improve and expand the lives of the students they teach. This gift extends from the saddle into the everyday lives of each individual. It is an honor the be a trustee and I am grateful to Celtic Charms for allowing me the privilege.
Being the mother of 2 boys with special needs, it's important for me that they lead as "normal" a life as possible. Celtic Charms gives my boys that. Everyone who works there, from the owners, to the instructors, to the lead and side walkers treat my boys with such loving respect it's beautiful! The facility is clean, new and modern, with a beautiful waiting room for the families. My sons LOVE going every week, and talk about it to everyone! Great job Celtic Charms!
Celtic Charms is a great place to work. I finally have the time to persue my lifelong love of horses. I didn't realize helping with Special children would be just as enjoyable. A visit to the facility will show Celtic Charms for the beautiful place it is with beautiful people to work with. Many volunteers are family members and the students themselves. Volunteers are made to feel welcome and indespensable for any time that they can contribute.
Spending tme at Celtic Charms as a volunteer has given me so many great oppotunities to work with the staff, horses and students and to learn and grow from these experiences. It is an excellent organization with individuals who are very knowledgeable and caring. I enjoy being a part of their continuing good work!
Being involved with Celtic Charms from the beginning and having the experience of watching it grow over the years, has been nothing short of joyful! Seeing a dream become a reality, and the growth of the students in their riding and socialization skills makes you understand the enthusiasm of all who are involved in the mission of Celtic Charms.
To watch people come in for a tour of the facility is always a treat. You can tell that they are fascinated at the beauty of the environment, the gentleness of the horses, and the variety of other creatures, large and small to be found. You may have a rooster, chicken, pot belly pig, cat or dog cross your path. You may visit the chickens, cows, and horses in the pastures. You will always encounter friendly staff and volunteers who have a love of people and animals alike.
The special events such as the Ride-A-Thon, allow the students to show what they have learned, and parents, family and friends come to cheer them on in their progress. Their beaming faces bring tears to my eyes!
There is certainly a home away from home atmosphere, and a camaraderie amongst all who pass through those barn doors.
My only complaint is that the rest of the demands in my life have not allowed me to be there as much as I would like to be. I highly recommend anyone interested to experience the Magic of Celtic Charms. You will never forget it!
I have been involved with Celtic Charms since day one and I can attest that they are a first class organization in every way. With their commitment to providing a facility that enhances the students and family member's experience and their loving and caring attitude towards the students and animals, they do truly "Unbridle The Magic" of therapeutic horsemanship.
Celtic Charms is an outstanding organization that brings joy into the lives of the students everyday.
As a volunteer, I have seen the hard work and dedication of the staff transform the farm into a truly beautiful and safe environment. The welfare and safety of everyone that comes to the farm is very important to the staff and is always stressed. The horses at Celtic Charms have wonderful temperaments and are given tender loving care, which ensures the riders a positive experience.
I feel very lucky to be a part of this growing organization that treats everyone with respect.
This is the place to be if you like to feel good, and smile!
Our twenty two year old son with autism, is part of a program called New Horizon's in Autism and we were looking for meaningful work experiences for Brandon and other young men with autism.
Celtic Charms has become our most rewarding work experience. We arrive early in the morning with a land crew of 5, the guys all get a wonderful sense of pride in doing necessary land and barn work. Celtic Charms is truly a warm place where everyone feels welcomed our group feels productive and a vital part of the environment. As you can imagine the grounds are pristine. Two of our guys take riding lessons at least one day per week. and the gentle, caring way in which every teacher guides each student is worthy of only the highest praises.
We believe wholeheartedly, this is an organization devoted to helping individuals and their families live a more fulling and joyful life.
We have nothing but wonderful things to say about Celtic Charms!! We LOVE it there!
We have been traveling to Celtic Charms for close to three years now. It is a long hike for us to get there, but it worth the thirty mile trip each week. In this time frame, we have watched the facility transform..from using port-a-potties to having two clean bathrooms accessible at all times on the premises, for example. The waiting room has made tremendous improvements, as we are able to actively observe each lesson in a warm, clean, kid-friendly (for the siblings) room. The amount of animals that they take care of has grown, so that the children can visit not only the horses, but the chickens, the cows, the rabbits, the pig, or even dogs on occasion. There is no doubt in my mind that these animals are well cared for. The staff and volunteers are phenomenal. Each and every person that has worked with my son seemed to genuinely love working with him. They have been patient, enthusiastic, and hopeful for his future progress.
We don't come for the bathrooms, the waiting room, or just to see the variety of animals; we come for the whole experience at Celtic Charms. It has been well worth the trip each and every week, and I would highly recommend this place to anyone searching.
My daughter has been going to Celtic Charms for three years now. I cannot begin to explain how wonderful her experiences have been at Celtic Charms. The instructors and volunteers are so patient and understanding. You can see that everyone there loves being there and doing what they do. They have helped my daughter with her attention issues, speech, proprioception, muscle tone, and social skills. I know that without Celtic Charms, my daughter's progress would not be where it is today. They have been an integral part of her growth and success.
My boys have been riding here for quite awhile now. The instructors are very caring and understand the special needs population! The staff are always helpful. We enjoy going there and seeing all the animals. The staff there treat everyone like family!! We love it here!!!
Our family has been involved with Celtic Charms from the start. We have watched it grow from a
facility, which needed much repair, into a premier riding center ! Our adult daughter, who has a developmental disability, has worked hard on improving her skills on horseback. She has also learned new skills required for carriage driving. On a an issue not related to horses, the owners' dogs helped
her get over her fear of canines. This is wonderful bonus!!!
Thanks to everyone at Celtic Charms!!!
