I don’t believe I have enough time or words to describe how much my family and I adore this school and all of their staff! My daughter came to Brookwood in 3rd grade. ( she is now going into 6th) She was in public school before and to say the least, it was a bad day everyday. When I would pick her up she would just be so down. She was falling behind quickly and we knew we had to do something! Thankfully, Brookwood came into our lives and now…my daughter is excelling in absolutely every class, is excited to learn and not one day since starting at Brookwood has she had a bad day. She literally RAVES about her day- everyday! The staff at Brookwood are some of the best people I have ever met! They are so true to their field and care, truly, about their students AND parents! We were thinking of moving to a different state a year ago and honestly, we stayed because of Brookwood! ❤️❤️❤️

Our experience at Brookwood has been exceptional. The teachers are truly invested in my child’s education and his growth in learning. Adjustments are made as needed to meet the needs of the student. Small class sizes and leveled learning have enabled my child to gain confidence in his learning abilities. Taking him out of public school to attend Brookwood has honestly changed my entire family’s life. He is thriving.

The administration is open minded and they consistently think outside the box to make Brookwood a successful educational experience for the students. They go above and beyond to assist and support families with tuition options/scholarships. Kim Wigington and the rest of the administration patiently walked us through the process to create a plan that worked for our family. Brookwood is committed to the whole child. They teach value lessons, communication and leadership skills. Patriotism is also present in their activities. Brookwood Christian School has been a very positive experience for our family. We truly are so thankful.

We had such bad experiences watching our son slip through the cracks in public school. Even with the services they offered, he wasn't getting the help he needed and hated going to school. Brookwood has been such a blessing for our family. He has shown such improvement in his first quarter this year. The classes are small . His teachers work closely with him and keep me informed of how he's doing. He looks forward to going to school. We are so thankful we found the right place for him.

Brookwood turned my dyslexic child's life around. She began BCS on the 6th grade while reading at a 1st grade level. Through intensive Wilson Reading, determined teachers, and a principal willing to bend over backwards to provide what my daughter needed, my daughter is graduating in December 2021 from Kennesaw State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering Tech. She already has an Associates in Electrical and Computer Engineering Tech and many technical certifications. Without Brookwood, she would have continued falling through public school cracks and probably would have never attended college. I can not state how grateful I am to Brookwood Christian School and the opportunities they provided for my child through the confidence she gained by learning to read. Thank you.

This is a wonderful school that has helped many students in our community that struggle with reading. Brookwood is not only doing an amazing job helping a neighbor's child, they are one of only 2 schools in the area that serve high school students with dyslexia. In addition to their tuition being considerably lower than other schools that serve students with reading issues, they offer many scholarships and financial aid to those willing to complete the Grant & Aid process. Their generosity is what made attending the school and receiving the help she needs possible for my neighbor's daughter.

I am extremely disappointed in this school administration. They do not handle communicating to parents in a honest, timely or forthright fashion. After many attempts asking for a meeting or phone call - they basically ignore this and continue to email. The administrators are not professional and don't make decisions based on what is best for each student. It's all about getting money and reviews to try to get noticed.
The teachers are wonderful (many of the reviews are posted by the teachers who do happen to have children there). The philosophy and idea of the school is amazing but the execution and putting the child first doesn't happen. This will eventually be a breaking point for this school unless they correct their attitude toward parents and student needs.
I still have yet to receive a call and it has left their student in a very bad state for the coming school year - but they don't care.

Brookwood continues help my daughter reach both her academic goals in a loving and judgment free environment. The way they structure the learning style to meet the student where they are with such low teacher to student ratio makes all the difference in the world. We are blessed to have found them.

My name is Anna, my son, like so many others that attend this school, was unable to thrive in public school. My son has ADHD, Auditory Processing Disorder, and Dyslexia. The IEP that was provided was not equipped to help my son's needs. In fact out of the two public schools he attended in GA, neither even knew what Auditory Processing Disorder was, let alone know how to help him. Even holding him back a grade was not an option to help sustain his education. I was left feeling hopeless until I found Brookwood. The small classroom environment gives him the one on one attention he needs to properly understand the subject matter. The teachers have the knowledge concerning his specific learning disabilities to know how to properly help him. In addition, they have special classes to help train his brain to function on a normal spectrum. Since attending this school, after just one year of the special classes he is testing on a normal level for Auditory Processing Disorder, however the doctor has admitted that he needs to continue in the classes to continue working on this specific disability. Brookwood has been one of the Biggest Blessings in my son's life. It has saved his education and future goals to succeed in life!

My daughter started with Brookwood Christian this school year, 2020-2021 and it has made a huge difference for her. She has dyslexia and has always struggled in public school with reading. After her 4th week at BCS, I noticed that she would read things randomly and it was the best feeling to see the light turn on in her. One day, she picked up a greeting card that was sent to my son, it was laying in his stack of mail and she started to read it. I remember casually telling her that it is not polite to read other people's mail, then it hit me she was READING. I am very thankful and please at what she has learned at Brookwood so far and she says that she wants to stay there until she graduates.

We are so happy that we found Brookwood Christian School. Our son is used to a small teacher-pupil ratio and this is what we found at BCS. Our son has special needs and the staff has been willing to work with him on his areas of weakness.
The teachers and support staff are very loving and supportive. The lack of homework, thus far, has allowed us to have more play and family time after school. In addition, we are very happy that Bible is part of the curriculum.
If you are looking for a loving environment for your child that addresses a child's IEP, check out Brookwood Christian School.

We feel completely blessed to have found Brookwood Christian School for our son. We were cautiously optimistic that a small school that specialized in language-based learning disabilities and could provide remediation for dyslexia would be a good fit. The school has exceeded all our expectations and our son is now flourishing, not only academically but emotionally. He is finally seeing himself as we always have – as a bright, curious boy who can excel. BCS has given him the ability to grow, thrive , and challenge himself now that he has the proper tools and guidance.

We were at our wits end in regards to our son and how he was unable to get the help needed with his Dyslexia. He was not engaging in school and to hear him talk about how much he hated school was killing us knowing that he wanted nothing more than to be able to read in school.

Then we found Brookwood. It was like winning the lottery. They live and breath teaching children with challenges like dyslexia. The staff is kind and empathetic while an environment is created where our son is actually unhappy when the weekend comes along because he prefers being in school. He says he feels like a real student now and actually LIKES having homework to work on each afternoon.

Brookwood Christian School has changed our lives for the better in so many ways, my only regret is that I can ONLY rate them at 5 stars - they deserve many many more.

If you are looking for a school to send your children where they will thrive and and be taught by teachers who really know what they are going through , then look no further than Brookwood Christian School.

I graduated from Brookwood last year, and it was an important part of my life. They accepted me with all my issues because they truly want to help kids. Kids with disabilities need more help than is provided in public schools. I never would have been prepared for college if I hadn't gone to Brookwood. Especially considering what my writing skills were before I came to Brookwood. I had other problems that Brookwood helped me with. I went from hating English to it being one of my favorite classes. I hated poetry, but now I like poetry. One of my favorite teachers of all time suggested my favorite book series, The KingKiller Chronicles. Brookwood was one of the most important communities in my life. If you know a family in or near Acworth, Georgia who has a child with dyslexia, autism, or etc you should suggest Brookwood as a school to look at.

After traumatizing and disappointing previous experiences with both public and private schools, my son has finally found a nurturing yet academically structured school at Brookwood. He has Asperger's and Executive Dysfunction. Brookwood has been able to accommodate his needs, keep hin engaged and teach him on his special ways. He has made very good friends, has play-dates on regular basis and just this past weekend had his first successful sleepover at a friend's! I give the school all the credit to his new self confidence, because for the last 3 semesters he has been in an classroom where he knows he will be heard, his concerns and points of view do matter to the teachers and staff, he knows he will be given the attention needed to accomplish what is expected of him. Ms. Kim and Ms. Danielle know each child, know their needs and deal with every issue on the personal basis, a true custom made environment.

Brookwood was a lifesaver for my son after his dyslexia diagnosis. Coming from a public school where he was hiding in the back, Brookwood really identified his needs and met them head on. Every teacher cared about his learning and was happy to help in any way possible. I can never say thank you enough to what they did for him and our family.

Brookwood has meant so much to our daughter. She feels she has a place to be herself. The ways she sees herself as different, seems normal here with others that face similar struggles in the classroom. The teachers are caring and create an environment that is positive and inviting. Without a doubt, our girl feels she belongs here. We are thankful for a loving school, where she can feel safe to learn and not ashamed of her uniqueness. She now seems to feel empowered, as we have watched her explain how she is unique and different to others. Thank you BCS.

Best school in the Northwest Atlanta area. This school has teachers who are creative, exciting and engaging. You can tell this "business" loves what they do!!! They are careful about who they hire - these teachers have to want to be patient, calm and love on these neuro divergent kids. It's a huge need in our education today - public schools and even most private schools are just not trained or equipment to help our children thrive, learn and grow. I would highly recommend any parent with a non neurotypical child to check them out
My child went from being frustrated every day, not wanting to go to school to looking forward to school and every day in his words are a ten or awesome.

In every great story, there is a comeback. As a mother of a child with numerous learning differences, I have been searching for the beginning of my child`s comeback story. I tried public school IEPs, homeschool , tutoring and another private school to no avail. When I met Kim, the founder of Brookwood Christian school, she had a quiet confidence about her that I could trust. My daughter has found a loving, safe environment with highly qualified teachers, like Kristen, Nadiya and Julie, who invest in my child on a daily basis. She moved from self-identifying as a non-reader to reading books like The Babysitter`s Club. She still has more work ahead of her, but she is taught the way her brain learns. She moved from being someone who hates math to smiling when she speaks of her success with her latest lesson. I can speak as a parent with full confidence that 1 year ago when my child started at Brookwood Christian school, her comeback story began. As a parent who has faced school days with anxiety, I can confidently drop her off knowing she is getting evidence-based interventions with Wilson Reading and FastForward to name just a few, as well as therapeutic art lessons to help her develop her fine motor skills, eye hand coordination and flex her creative muscles. Last year testing confirmed what I already knew, the intervention and environment was working! I would like to encourage parents to help their children to stop struggling and start thriving. Come check out Brookwood Christian School. This school is one of the best decisions I have ever made for my child!

This is my sons first year at Brookwood but it has been such a blessing to us. He has struggled all through school before receiving a diagnosis of dyslexia the summer before 5th grade. As a teacher myself, I felt like I had failed him. Why couldn’t I have avoided this for my child? After months of research and learning that this is not a life sentence, it’s a gift, I found Brookwood. Everyone at Brookwood reinforces this belief and encourages my son to be the best he can be. They teach him in a way that HE can learn without all the pressure of meeting certain standards and taking standardized tests. He is confident about school and about his learning. He is excited everyday to show me what he learned at school. My heart is full and it’s all thanks to Brookwood!

I left public education after 20 years and one of the reasons I left was because the emphasis was on passing students through regardless of learning, especially with regards to reading. As a math teacher, one of the biggest obstacles I encountered was that many students were reading far below grade level making it very difficult to read the math problems. Little, if anything, was done to actually address the poor reading skills, rather they just had the test read to them, and they were passed along, reading skill/level unchanged. This was true for other subjects as well.

After I left, I worked part time as a classroom teacher at Brookwood and for the first time in my career, I wasn't micromanaged and was allowed to actually TEACH the students rather than "check boxes". Students were also intensely immersed in the appropriate reading class for their level and for success, which not only improved their reading skills, it alleviated much of the stress they had previously, when they knew they were struggling and it wasn’t getting better.

Currently, I serve on the board and am also the Director of Development. Having to familiarize myself with the literacy statistics, it’s concerning that the low literacy rates for this region are estimated between 11% and 20%, which means roughly 147,000 to 267,000 adults are lacking Basic Prose Literacy Skills.

Students who are not proficient readers are 4x more likely to dropout of school than those who are, setting them up for a lifetime of struggles and potential poverty. If we can get each child to his/her maximum reading potential, we can greatly reduce the likelihood of these struggles.

This year our students averaged an increase in reading comprehension of 2.2 years, with 60% of our students seeing at least a 1 year gain, which is a considerable gain given that many have seen no improvement in many years.

I am honored to work with such a dedicated staff and volunteers in a wonderful environment with the best interests of the students at heart.

Our daughter, Ava, came to Brookwood this year and she's been thriving since day one. This past Spring she did a "shadow day" and she was completely in love with the school, the teachers and the entire layout of the day. Every day she is excited for school and in such good spirits when I pick her up. Reading has become a new hobby for her and she has the confidence to talk about what she is learning.

Brookwood Christian has been a life changer for my twins. With diagnosis of dyslexia, ADHD, auditory processing disorder and both on the autism spectrum we were lost in public school. Brookwood not only addresses learning issues, but goes the extra mile to address coping mechanisms for our children. The depth of service from this amazing academy to the special needs community is top notch and a rarity in the acedemic community.

Brookwood Christian was the answer to many tears and prayers. Both of my girls have Learning Disabilities and the public school system was failing them. Within a short period after arriving at Brookwood, we began to see changes not only in success with learning, but in their behaviors as well. The tears and tantrums at homework time no longer exist. Each staff member at Brookwood is invested personally in the children. They provide a caring and compassionate atmosphere that allows children to learn on their level, without the added pressure of "performing" for standardized tests. I can't imagine a better atmosphere for children to learn.

Brookwood Christian school is absolutely amazing. This is my daughters 2nd year. She came from Public school last year as a 6th grader when she was 12. Even with her IEP, she was still really struggling in public school. Not that there was anything wrong with the school she attended before but they just simply didn’t know how to teach her. She was diagnosed with a language barrier when she was in 3rd grade. School made her anxious and she was spending hours at night on homework. She had trouble concentrating, she was drowning in the work overload and getting discouraged with poor grades. We were recommended Brookwood by someone when I was looking into homeschooling and I’m so thankful to have found them. She still gets to go to school and have her friends. I’m not sure where we would be without this school. The teachers are great and they really make learning fun. She has learned and retained more since being at Brookwood than all the years she was in public school. They offer a safe and nurturing learning environment for children. It feels more like a big family. My daughter loves the small classroom sizes and hands on learning. She always looks forward to the farmers market in downtown Acworth or walking to the lake. For the first time she really enjoys going to school and to me that is priceless. My whole family is so very grateful that a school like Brookwood exists for those that learn and process information in different ways. This school is such a blessing!!

Brookwood Christian School is considered a language learning disability school. It has been my family's experience that Brookwood is a language learning ABILITY school. Our son Blake was 8 when he started at Brookwood in September of last year. After attending public school for 4 years plus August of this past school year he still could barely recognize his own name and could read nothing. We were told by the school system he was mentally retarded and that he would never learn to read. They were going to place him in special education only classes where he would be allowed to pass from grade to grade until he aged out of the school and then would graduate with a special education diploma. He would be sent into adulthood unable to read or write. We found Brookwood and immediately contacted them. We knew immediately upon meeting with the Kim, that God had placed this school and its staff in our lives. In the 8 months that Blake was there last year he learned to begin reading. His test scores showed extreme progress. This school loves its children and has a true and genuine desire to see that each child is given the opportunity to grow to their full potential. As the parents of a child with with auditory processing disorder and several other special needs we were determined to give our son every opportunity we could for him to succeed. We are confident that Brookwood was the key that opened the door for our son to have everything he needs for success. Don't let your child struggle another day, call Brookwood and let them help you. - Shan, Julie, and Blake Burnette

My daughter will be graduating from Brookwood this coming year. Seven years ago, we were shopping for a school for her.
Every school we interviewed was eager to walk us past their awards case and boast of their achievements.
When we came to Brookwood, the first words out of the principal's mouth were, "Tell me about your daughter.". After a lengthy discussion about my little girl's strengths and weaknesses, her ambitions and dreams, and plans to make them happen. Only then did she tell us about Brookwood.
We've been there ever since.

Brookwood Christian School does not get my endorsement because they discriminate against children with life threatening peanut allergies and refuse to make any reasonable accommodations and deny admissions based on this allergy. When informed about her peanut allergy the principal of this school told us my daughter would have to "handle this on her own" and that she would be responsible for wiping down tables after other children that ate peanut butter. Every reasonable accommodation I suggested was not considered and the principal stated she didn't want the liability. I was so shocked and disappointed that this school had no reasonable allergy plan in place and had such little empathy toward my daughter's allergy. Needless to say my daughter ( and me) left in tears because of the attitude and lack of understanding toward this life threatening allergy that affects so many kids.
