As someone who has grown to love everything about the Spanish Mustang, I have found the work of Windcross Conservancy to be invaluable to the protection of this great breed. Time and time again Windcross has gone above and beyond in meeting my expectations. Many thanks to them for the work they continue to do!

We went. We saw. We heard. Now we want to go back we all had a special day and had a lot of fun thanks for everything including the lemonade, water and tea it was hot out there but the visit was cool.
They went out of their way to make our day fun, informative and wonderful when we went to see them in July.
I live in a building with a few handicapped individuals that over the last year we have been doing a lot with we have started a craft, movie nights and dinner group that gets together several days a month. We thought we would expand and try an outing and picknick with the group and decided to try and see some horses. Because of handicaps some of our group have problems with mobility knowing this the people at Windcross brought a picknick table for us to eat at and had some wonderfully cold tea, water and lemonade for us. Then when we were done eating they brought some of the horses to us so that everyone could see them instead of making us go to them. We had a wonderful visit and some of us are planning on returning very soon.
I spent 3 months volunteering at Windcross last summer and it was easily the best 3 months of my life. The family knows their horses and the breed inside and out, and loves nothing more than sharing them with the world. They’ve dedicated their lives to saving the Spanish Mustang breed, and work tirelessly to preserve the integrity of bloodlines. The horses themselves are absolutely incredible and amazing ambassadors to the breed, and taught me more about myself than I would’ve ever thought possible. I improved upon my work ethic; there’s no greater motivator than 33 hungry horses staring you down waiting for their breakfast. I learned several horse handling and training techniques that have already paid off. Such an all around indescribable experience, incredible family that I’m still close to, and AMAZING non-profit.

Went for a 45 minute tour. They were so nice and full of information we were there at least 3 hours. We were able to get right up to some of the horses. My favorite part of our vacation in South Dakota. This was also a holiday weekend so it was extra nice of them to take time and give us a tour!
My father and I roadtripped to South Dakota in the spring of 2016, and Windcross Conservancy was one of our many stops. It ended up being my favorite by far! Lucia, our tour guide, was very friendly and informative. We learned about the history of the Spanish Mustang breed and were able to meet many of the horses in the Windcross herd. I was even able to feeel a foal kick in a pregnant mare! After the walking tour portion, I got to help with a training session with two of the yearling horses. I learned so much invaluable information in that 2 hours that I'll surely never forget and will use far in the future as a veterinarian and horse owner.
Additionally, I fell so in love with the horses, people and Conservancy as a whole that I chose to come back this summer to volunteer. I've been here for seven weeks and will be here for another three. In my time, I've gotten to work with several of the horses, examine three placentas, learn even more about the breed and horses in general, and improve my public speaking skills on tours. I've made lifelong friends and memories I will NEVER forget.
We learned about Windcross on a previous trip but had to wait due to overbooking of our time. Now we regret that choice.
We have three very curious and intense children. To be honest, we were afraid about how they would do in this environment. The moment we watched Ms Lucia take the hand of our youngest I knew we were in good hands. Her calmness and love of those majestic animals seemed to transfer right thru that hand holding. We watched as the children touched, groomed and eventually rode on these wonderful animals that seemed to know a kindred spirit. We spent 30 days and visited six National Parks. These hours spent at Windcross were our most peaceful and connecting. We have since shared with everyone we know heading that way. We will be back and our youngest still remembers how to calm his pony brain as he was taught. :)
My grandkids and I visited couple times, what a wonderful experience, the tour was very informative, the spanish mustangs are very well cared for, the family and volunteers are very friendly they are very passionate about their work, they went above and beyond during our visit
I loved this place. Loved walking out into the herd and learning all about the Spanish Mustangs. The horses are so well cared for and the employees and volunteers are so nice.
Just left Windcross Conservancy which is working to save the Spanish Mustang breed. What beautiful horses! This tour was fun, personal and educational. We highly recommend this tour and the important work of this conservancy. Thank you for a great experience.
I took my son here last month and we both absolutely LOVED it! The staff was really friendly, their tours were very informative, and most of all my son was one happy little boy after our trip! I was a little worried about taking him around the animals at his age (3), but any reservations I had previously completely disappeared by the end of the tour. They ran a very safe, yet interactive tour. I was entirely pleased with my visit at windcross and will be returning!
We had a wonderful visit to Windcross. Our guides were very knowledgeable and informative. My daughter was in horse heaven!
My wife , daughter and I visited June 17th 2015. We had a great experience. It was very informative and awesome to get hands on with these beautiful horses. I wish we could have spent more time there. They are a veteran friendly establishment also. We, ( my family), all agree that it was a highlight of our vacation.

We love to share the horses, especially with young people. They are the future of horses in general and these horse in particular. :)
