To support and promote the teaching of agriculture and the role it plays in our lives.

San Diego County Schools and youth organizations are are eligible to apply for grants to support gardens or ag projects that enhance the teaching of agriculture. Grants range from $250 to $1,000 and can be awarded to individuals, groups or schools.  Depending on how much money is available through fundraising over the past year, we are able to annually provide between $5000 and $15000 in funding.  In order to help as many programs as possible, most schools who submitted awardable applications receive 50% to 80% of what was requested. In 2009 we received applications from 24 schools, with requested funds totalling $19,945, but were only able to fund $5000 due to decreased giving at our fundraisers.  From Jamul to Oceanside, SDAITC garden grants have funded the construction of new garden features like food preparation tables and produce washing stations, greenhouses, raised beds, and more. It has also helped offset costs for tools, wheelbarrows, seeds, seedlings, etc.
