Mission: Neighbor Ride’s mission is to enhance the health and quality of life for Howard County’s seniors by providing the comfort and peace of mind of affordable, passenger-focused transportation services through a reliable, volunteer-based system.
For over 19 years, Neighbor Ride has leveraged the power of volunteers to coordinate and provide transportation for Howard County seniors, age 60 and over – giving them the “wheels” they need to stay healthy and remain actively engaged in the life of our community. Transportation for medical appointments, shopping, social outings, wellness activities and other needs is available daytimes and evenings, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Results: Since 2004, Neighbor Ride has provided over 230,000 trips for seniors - offering access to medical care, and making it possible for them to go shopping, enjoy social outings, participate in wellness activities, and more. Since 2020, we have also provided deliveries of food and durable medical equipment in partnership with the Howard County Food Bank and the Loan Closet of Howard County. The demand for Neighbor Ride's transportation services is at all-time highs, with volunteers providing an average of 1,500 trips/deliveries per month.
