A few years ago I found myself at a place where I really wanted to volunteer my passion. . . . children. Jonathan's Place is in my neighborhood, so I checked out their website and found a job opening and applied. I am so privileged to be able to work my passion everyday at this amazing organization.
Jonathan's Place is a beautiful campus. It is very clean and is very much a home environment. The children here are receiving excellent care in every way - therapy, medical, and dental services. This is an organization that I whole-heartedly stand behind and with. Our staff work diligently to care for and meet every child's need. We have caring volunteers who are invested in our children. They may play a game, read a book, play on the playground, help with homework, etc. My husband and son have also become volunteers.
Jonathan's Place is and will forever remain in my heart!
A few years back, I noticed a hole in my heart for not giving back enough to the community. I knew that I wanted to find a non profit that I could build a long term relationship with, and started exploring what was out there. Jonathan's Place was referred to me by a friend, who suggested I give it a try. I was hesitant at first, as I didn't have any experience with kids. However, after the first visit to JP, I knew this was the organization I wanted to call home.
JP is by far the most well-run, accepting and stable organizations in its class. I've visited several other institutions in Texas, and nothing has compared to the level of service JP provides to its children.
I've been volunteering and helping out at JP for almost three years now, and look forward to seeing what the future holds for this amazing organization!
Having volunteered with Jonathan's Place for many years, I have seen many children come through the facility. The children are cared for attentively while there. It is a great place for them to feel safe during a difficult time in their lives. The 'cottages' are set up to make the kids feel at home.
Jonathan's Place is a homely and caring environment for children who need it. The staff puts in great efforts to ensure that the children are well fed, well clothed and most importantly, loved. As a volunteer, I got an opportunity to be a part of the lives of many children and each one of them taught me something new. It's a pleasure to look at smiling faces of kids and Jonathan's Place has been instrumental in putting a smile on so many faces.
I have recently started volunteering with Jonathan's place and am so impressed with their facilities and the work they do. The staff are amazing and are truly making a difference in these kid's lives!!
Being a college student and wanting to work with kids when I graduate and in my future, I thought Jonathan's place would be a wonderful place to not only get experience, but to be around kids! I would love to volunteer everyday If I could! There is so much about this place that amazes me, and makes me feel like home. Whether i'm answering phone calls, or helping out with the kids, the people at Jonathan's Place are wonderful caring people that make volunteering worthwhile.
When I retired I wanted to do something to help out with deserving kids. I have been a volunteer at Jonathan's Place for about a year and a half and I have really enjoyed it. I help on the front desk answering the phones and greeting people at the door. The generosity of people that bring toys, food, clothing, toiletries, books and an abundance of other goodies is amazing. The team that runs the place are exceptional and really do watch the bottom line and are truly great with the kids. There are some wonderful corporate sponsors that donate there time and money throughout the year in addition to the many individual people. Everyday that I am there I am told how much they appreciate me but I feel like the grateful one.
I have been a volunteer at Jonathan's Place for 2 years working with the teenage girls cottage. I absolutely love the girls and feel that the program is amazing! Jonathan's Place has really built a place for these girls to call home and treat them as a family. I love volunteering and am so thankful and blessed to be a part of this program!
Hello there is so much more I can say about Jonathan Place than this site will allow. It had been one of the most rewarding fulfilling and memorable journeys. Being a foster parent can be a huge task and Jonathan Place helps make it all worth it. We cannot express our love to the team all nd what an amazing place this is. When we first reached out to Jonathan Place to start the process, we felt welcomed and part of an amazing family.

We are a foster/adoptive family licensed through Jonathan's Place. I can't say enough good things about the staff, programs & training they provide. Families & kids served by JP definitely have great advocates in their corner.
This is by far the most informative and helpful place for foster and adoption information and classes. My husband and I are currently going through the foster to adopt program and they are great teachers and there has never been any form of discrimination from staff or other clients! I will sing their praises all day long!!
Hi, my name is Chrissy. I am an RN and I want everyone to know that JP is not only an Emergency Shelter they also provide Foster/ Adoptive services. I have been fostering with them for roughly 5 years and have adopted through the agency as well. I have a group home with 12 teenage daughters and feel that they provide the utmost of personal attention to the children and also to my entire family.
I feel close with all if the staff at JP and feel that they are friends. My case manager is Jennifer Maddox and I have never met an individual that cares as deeply for the kids than she does. She is the best child advocate that I have met and makes me and my family better advocates for the children. I highly recommend this agency for this reason. It is all about the personal connection that you receive. The kids that I foster are mainly the toughest of the tough. They are hard to place and most of the time feel that no one wants them. When my kids leave me it is like losing a child every time but knowing that I have impacted their lives in a positive way is all the thanks I need. Thank you Jonathan's Place for helping me live out my purpose. Chrissy Benge
I am a volunteer at Jonathon's Place. I have been working with the staff and kids for about 5 years now. I feel it is a privilege to work with the people who make this place a home for so many displaced foster children. I have seen scores of children arrive scared, angry and confused and not want to leave even a week later. No matter how long the children stay at Jonathon's Place, they are likely better off for having been there. The care they receive is usually better than they get at home. It is a safe, loving, caring environment with 3 meals a day, clean bed, clean clothes, and the best medical and psychological care they could get. I have recently been working with the teenage girls in the Residential Therapeutic Program. What a gift this is to these girls to have a wonderful home and training on how to live on their own when they turn 18.
I can't say enough about Jonathon's Place. It is all about the kids.
