Mission: Hep-C ALERT, founded in 1997, grew from the need to raise public awareness and concern of chronic hepatitis C; increase the number of persons self-referring for screening and seeking medical evaluation for viral hepatitis and HIV infection; and empower healthcare consumers to make effective and informed decisions regarding their health and well being. A substantial portion of Hep-C ALERT's efforts are directed towards educating individuals, groups and policy makers about hepatitis C and offering screening and counseling for those at-risk. Throughout 1999 and beyond, we have collaborated with health plans, public health departments, and the private sector in disseminating vital information about hepatitis C. Hep-C ALERT is nationally recognized as a top-notch service provider.
