The people at Bello Machre from the directors to the volunteers put their hearts and souls into creating fantastic homes and programs for all of their clients. I feel the warmth, love and caring every time I am with any of their staff, and it is reflected in the faces of those they serve.

Working with the staff on many projects, they are "big-picture" thinkers with the goal of helping as many people as possible. We have achieved some amazing results in my years of working with Bello!

I can't think of a thing I would change!

As parents of a profoundly disabled son, our involvement with Bello began before it became the wonderful entity that it has grown to be. It was a dream when the only available resources in the very early 60’s were the Health Dept. and state institutions. The need was so great and the civic response so large that Bello Machre was built in 1972 as a campus program with seven cottages, our son being one of the first clients to be served. Bello has always maintained a very committed Board of Directors (of which I served for ten years) and has placed the welfare of their clients first and foremost. My husband and I, and our son’s two siblings, could not have placed his care for almost 38 years in a setting that did not meet his needs, both emotionally and physically. Bello was pivotal in our ability to raise our children responsibly, pursue careers, maintain a loving home environment, and still be involved with our son, his program, his caregivers, and decisions regarding his health and well-being. In short, we owe more to Bello than we can possibly give back.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Our experience is as personal as one can get with an organization - they have had the care of our son for almost 40 years. They (the director, staff, caregivers, aides) are like an extended family. Their care of our son is truly exceptional. We are connected to all facets of his life and have witnessed the results of this exceptional care. Our son is safe, happy, and has a truly better life than one could have expected with his disability.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would promote this organization to the best of my ability. Even the possibility of turning down one disabled person who would benefit from this program is heart-breaking. The growth of Bello is, in itself, proof of the value it demonstrates. We are not wealthy people by anyone's standard, and we have made Bello our charity of choice for many, many years. Bello Machre is deserving of everyone's magnanimous gifts.
