Mission: AIL has 2 offices in Afghanistan that are dedicated to improving and increasing healthcare and education opportunities for poor Afghans, especially women and children. AIL also provides training in leadership, democracy, human rights and much more, including training teachers in modern methods. AIL also provides emergency aid, legal aid and culture revival classes. AIL previously worked in Afghan refugee camps in Pakistan for many years.
Results: Since 1995, AIL has trained over 28,000 teachers, treated over 2.9 million patients and given health education to 3 million and impacted the education of 448,000 students. Through all its programming over two decades, AIL has impacted the lives of 15 million Afghan women, children and men.
