The cannoli fund has been a great asset to our community. Without them I would've been unable to take care, vaccinate, spay neuter and feed the cats that have become part of my everyday life. This organization has been very helpful to our community and I'm extremely greatful that they were able to help in the expenses of my fur babies. Thank you.

The Cannoli fund has provided veterinary care for many cats that were from a colony in the lavaca area. With the spay and neuter the colony is now under control and live a better life outdoors. Without the cannoli funds help I would not be able to financially support and Care for these animals. There is one little kitten in particular that kept getting into trouble and ended up with a severe injury that required surgery. After a month recovering at the veterinary tiger came home and is now an indoor cat and she brings great joy every day. Thank you cannoli fund for all your great support in our community. Without you these animals would not have the ability to live healthier lives and would otherwise go unnoticed and their chances for being adopted would not be possible. Your organization is the best thing that has happened for our furry friends in the King William and lavaca area
I am a huge fan of the Cannoli Fund. They are a neighborhood group that really works directly with the community to help every single cat and dog that comes their way. They take calls night and day about sick or injured animals, and have helped countless stray animals find forever homes. In addition, their work with controlling the feral cat population of King William in amazing. They have spayed or neutered so many cats, benefiting everyone who lives or spends time in the community. It is impressive to watch the small team of the Cannoli Fund do so much for the animals of San Antonio. I am proud to be a donor and friend of the group.
My neighbor showed up at my doorstep in tears. She said that Blackino was very ill and seemed to be dying. Blackino was the alpha cat in our local community cat colony. He was very outgoing and friendly and had won the hearts of all that had come to know him and especially my neighbor's heart. Blackino had been neutered long ago courtesy of Cannoli Fund but I had no idea whether the Fund could help with euthanasia. A quick Google and then a quick written plea had a response in a jiffy. I found out that, yes, Cannoli Fund could help with this. I was directed to an animal hospital that was able to see him the very next morning despite that being Sunday morning. When I went to pick up Blackino, not only my tearful neighbor was ready to go but another neighbor joined in and together we went and received the news that Blackino was in major renal failure and that it was time to say goodbye. Our neighbor trio together made the decisions on next steps along the way. Cannoli Fund made it possible for us to do the right thing by Blackino. In this particular situation, it was especially important that Blackino's suffering did not have to be prolonged and also witnessed along the way. We will always be most grateful for the Cannoli Fund!
I have worked with The Cannoli Fund for over three years now and could not be more grateful to have such a giving organization in our neighborhood. They have assisted in all medical bills, food, and supplies for the fosters I have personally taken in. They are timely in their response and delivery, and are attentive to individual needs of each animal. Attached are just a few of the hundreds of animals The Cannoli Fund has helped!
This nonprofit have improved the lives of many stray / injured / sick animals in our neighborhood in downtown San Antonio. With the support of the Cannoli fund, I have been able to spay one stray dog and 5 of the local cat population, as well as to care for one of the cats who had an eye infection. I am so grateful that this organization exists to help our local animals!
The Cannoli Fund is such a blessing to my neighborhood and the animals that live here! I knew about the Cannoli Fund from the numerous water bowls they provide neighbors to leave out so our animals have constant access to fresh water.
When I noticed feral cats hanging around my house, I naturally began to feed and water them. I reached out to the Cannoli fund to discuss the possibility of having the cats fixed, they were available the next week to help me set up humane traps in an attempt to get the cats in the carpool to go get their rabies shots and fixed! They were very helpful in providing me tips and tricks to get the cats to go in the traps.
About two weeks after my first male cat had returned home, I noticed that he had an open wound on his back leg. I let the Cannoli Fund know that afternoon and that evening I came home to a cat carrier so I would be able to take (Sirius, the cat) to the vet for care. I was able to take him to get checked out that same day! He thankfully didn't need stitches, but was given an antibiotic shot and an allergy shot to help him resist further irritating his itchy skin. Thank God for the Cannoli Fund for taking care of the bill for Sirius' medical care. Otherwise taking him to the vet for care would've been a heavy blow to my personal finances.
Because of the Cannoli Fund I am now able to say I have a small, happy, healthy and responsible cat colony. I'm very grateful that I have been given the opportunity to bond with some of the "feral" cats that have made my yard their home. Without the support of the Cannoli Fund, I know I would've thought twice about welcoming strays, in worry of the responsibilities and how much they could potentially cost me.
We are all very thankful that the Cannoli Fund is here to help provide care to all the animals in our neighborhood!
In 2013 on a visit to San Antonio, I saw a picture of two adorable fluffy blue-eyed kittens who were brother and sister being fostered by a Cannoli volunteer, and even though my husband and I already had cats, I couldn't resist an invitation to meet them in person.
The volunteer told me that when these kittens were found, they were covered with more fleas than any animals she had ever seen, and they both had eye infections, but when she released them from the room where they were confined, I could hardly believe how healthy they looked and acted. Their parents were a blue-eyed white female and a long-haired orange tabby male which meant they were little flame-point kittens. I was hopelessly in love, but my husband still needed convincing.
We drove home, and over a few weeks, he thought about adding to our feline family; of course, I showed him their pictures frequently. We made a donation to help Cannoli and its volunteers while we were considering. Shortly after, a family emergency occurred in the volunteer's family which meant the kittens needed to be adopted immediately along with another unrelated kitten who was being fostered with them. We agreed to take all three with the promise that we would find a suitable home for the other kitten so in January 2014, we met on I10 at the halfway point between San Antonio and Houston and took Harold and Mary, and their little gray tabby "brother" Jaime home.
Of course, forever families know where this is going! We made a brief "faux" effort to find a home for Jaime but called it off because he has the most loving, enchanting personality and truly, is the smartest cat we've ever had!!
Of course, our adult cats did not love the idea of three babies invading their space, but we've made it work.
It is now 2017, and honestly, not a day has passed without laughter at the antics of the three Cannoli kids, and yes, even my husband totally agrees with my favorite quote, "We so lucky!" And you should see Mary put her little pink nose up to daddy for a kiss!! By the way, Jaime was the model for the 2014 Cannoli cat medal!
The Cannoli Fund is an amazing organization since all humane trapping, transporting, and fostering is done by volunteers, all of whom are truly devoted to improving the lives of animals. I urge fellow animal lovers to support these tireless heroes.

This is an organization that works tirelessly to facilitate its mission. When we discovered a litter of feral kittens born under our neighbor's front porch steps, I reached out to Cannoli. Within hours, I had a reply with several plans for helping the kittens and mother. Since then the mother has been trapped, vaccinated, fixed, and released back to a healthier life. The kittens have been trapped, and we've coordinated fostering with Cannoli, who have provided flea medication, feeding advice, kitten visitors for facilitating the much-needed human contact to the little ones, and just this week took them to be vaccinated and neutered. They've helped my husband at the neighborhood fire station with stray dogs using their chip reader; they've driven countless feral cats in the neighborhood to be fixed; they help people feed their trapped and released colonies, and they are clear with ideas and practicalities when it comes to managing the ever present problem of stray animals in San Antonio. I cannot emphasize enough the way this nonprofit keeps its promises, and only makes promises it can keep, and to a population of creatures that is in great need.
When I moved to the King William area a tiny stray cat with big eyes stole my heart before introducing me to her four kittens. I fed them a few times and before I knew it, I was sole supporter of a small feral cat colony. In a few months, she was pregnant again. My wise landlords called the Cannoli Fund and Nancy collected Little Mama and her eight youngsters and had them fixed. If Little Mama added eight kittens to the population in eight months imagine what she and her offspring could do in a couple of years. This is a great organization that serves it's subjects well!
MIA CAT
I am a senior citizen caring for a feral cat colony in our King William/Lavaca Neighborhood in San Antonio, Texas. The Cannoli Fund, which assists with cats and dogs in our area, has helped me so much by bringing bags of cat food and, most recently, by assuming vet costs for Mama Mia Cat who showed up one day with a severely mangled leg. Nancy Diehl, group co-founder, also has given me kind support, personally bringing humane traps and providing encouragement. I have never encountered a group more devoted to a humane cause or more willing to lend a helping hand. --Rose Mary Budge
Without the CannoliFund's support, both financial and mental--Other Cat, Tiny Girl, Patchy, Inky, and Tommy Wommy O'Meara, the original gangster cat (may he Rest In Peace)--wouldn't be nearly as happy as they are living the good life outside. Plus there'd be a lot more of them. I wish every community worldwide could be blessed with a CannoliFund ❤️
My neighbor nurtures a feral cat colony. But she and her partner did not spay or neuter them and it was hard to feed them. Instead of fussing at her about having too many cats, I called the Cannoli Fund who were able to provide traps, pick up trapped cats and spat/neuter them. They also provide a bag of food once a month to help with the cost. This has helped our whole street: neighbors get along better, our yardsare not full of cats & cat poop, my neighbor has a manageable feral cat colony. It got us out to meet & talk, beyond just taking care of cats.
They also helped with an injured stray dog we found. He needed extensive medical care and they helped me find a dog-lover to take him in and helped them with vet bills. For such a small org they do so much!
I rescued my first stray dog (right off the street) about 8 years ago. Diva is her name. I ended up rescuing a 2nd dog, Frida (straight off the street I live) the following year. At the time, my single income household could meet the basic needs for my girls, food, shelter, snackies, squeeky toys, shots, etc... In 2014, unexpectedly, my Diva was diagnosed with heart-worm disease. I did not know what to do as the vet informed me of the process and expense involved. A round of very expensive treatments, for a total of 3 months. On my budget, even a standard vet visit had to be pre-planned a month or so before. I turned to the Cannoli Fund, desperate for help for my sweet mutt. It took a miracle and the Cannoli Fund to get my girl back on track. The Cannoli Fund took care of Diva's first visit. This enabled me to pre-plan for the remaining 2 treatments. In 2015,my Frida contracted a serious infection which required surgery. Again, Cannoli to the rescue. Words cannot express what the Cannoli Fund has meant to me and my household. My quality of life has been so enriched having my girls to accompany me in this earthly journey. Thank you, thank you, thank you...Cannoli Fund...I am blessed beyond words~
I am a first time foster mom who is supported by The Cannoli Fund. I took interest in a stray dog and Cannoli has taken away a burden by covering medical costs for my buddy who has heart worms, mange and other possible health issues. On top of that, member and founder Nancy and Marley go out of their way to help walk him during the day when I am not able. It is apparent this program makes it easier on people who normally would not save animals because of the unknown medical costs. They also made it very convenient for me to have my rescue cat spayed and vaccinated, by providing transportation to and from the vet. It is comforting to know that, while decreasing feline population, the cats are re-released to create a safer environment without altering their surroundings. I also feel Cannoli is incredibly beneficial to other non profit rescues who may not otherwise have room to take in strays. Cannoli gives back to our community in more than just one way and I thank them for all of their support and dedication towards the love and care they have for all creatures. Much love to Nancy, Marley, Dawn and The Cannoli Fund !
I have helped several stray animals in my neighborhood. The Cannoli fund has offered me financial help and actively supported me as we search for the best possible solution for the animals' future. I have chosen to keep 2 dogs and 2 cats and I have fostered animals until we found forever homes for them. I am so grateful to have The Cannoli Fund as a resource.
The Cannoli Fund is integral in the King William/Lavaca neighborhoods in helping to get the stray animal population under control, and in going above and beyond to provide assistance to families who want to adopt and foster. The dog I now own was a stray pit bull on our street. When I found her a year ago, the Cannoli Fund paid for her spaying and also footed the (multi-hundred dollar) bill for the heartworm treatment she had to undergo. We were able to give her a forever home without breaking the bank, all thanks to the efforts of the Cannoli Fund. Later on I fostered another stray dog that I found on the street, and the Cannoli Fund paid for his neutering and also assisted me in placing him with an organization that would eventually find him a forever family. I'm so grateful for the help that this organization gave to my dogs and I, and for the continuous work they do in the neighborhood!
I was introduced to my dog a little over a year ago thanks to the lovely folks at the Cannoli Fund (specifically Nancy D.!!). The organization does not usually serve in a foster/adoption capacity (due to limited time and resources, not heart!), but because of extraordinary circumstances it found a temporary home for Lucy until a permanent home (mine as it turned out) could be arranged. I knew nothing about caring for a dog before I adopted Lucy, as I had only had cats in my life previously, so Nancy kindly went above and beyond, not only allowing me to borrow basic canine equipment to get me started , but also advising me on a dog's day to day needs. I am so very grateful to Nancy and the Cannoli Fund for the wonderful work they do for the King William community and for the example they set for animal advocacy groups!
The number of animals The Cannoli Fund, a small, all volunteer group has helped in one neighborhood, in just a few years is amazing!
When I moved back to the King William - Lavaca neighborhood I noticed the amount of strays had exploded in recent years. I was unable to rescue and find homes for all the strays I wanted to help. Fortunately, the Cannoli Fund was happy to help me care for my rescues by helping me fund medical expenses and by providing food for them.
I am indebted to The Cannoli Fund, and was excited to become a Volunteer. I'm now able to help others who have the same love for animals!
My family loves the Cannoli Fund!
In the one year that I have lived in San Antonio's Lavaca neighborhood , I have seen firsthand how The Cannoli Fund has been essential in providing care to the stray and lost dogs and cats in our neighborhoods. Over this last year, there were dogs that I brought into my home off the street, and The Cannoli Fund has helped me provide much needed care for them all. The first dog, was a lost dog, covered in ticks and fleas, and The Cannoli Fund helped me scan for her microchip, gave me flea medication, and then the dog was eventually reunited with her owners. The next lucky dog that The Cannoli Fund provided a tremendous amount of help to, was a puppy that was dumped a couple houses down from where I live. This puppy had a lot of parasites, and was in need of vet care. I called up The Cannoli Fund, and the next day I was able to take the puppy to the vet with all vet bills, included spaying, covered by The Cannoli Fund. After a week of care, this puppy found a forever home in our neighborhood. The most recent dog that I took in was a two year dog found underweight, with worms, and an eye and ear infection. As this dog was found on the street, I took him in for a vet visit the next day, and again, all vet bills including vaccinations, worm medication, and treatment for the infections, were covered by The Cannoli Fund. As one walks around King William and Lavaca neighborhoods, there are a lot houses with large water bowls in the front yard. These bowls were donated by The Cannoli Fund and are there to provide water to the animals of our neighborhoods, and are used daily by our neighborhood dogs and cats. The Cannoli Fund is a true blessing and much needed resource for King William and Lavaca neighborhoods. I wouldn't have been able to care for the three dogs I found on the street without them, and I know many neighbors who would agree with me.
The Cannoli Fund is an essential group in managing my neighborhood's stray cat population and animal health. They are always available and always willing to help with any animal concerns, and are committed to supporting neighbors with stray cat, dog, and pet concerns. It has truly been a pleasure working with them, and a joy to have them as a neighborhood institution.
The Cannoli Fund is an absolute gem in our community. I found a stray nursing female and without Cannoli's footing the entire vet bill there is no way me and my neighbor could have saved Daisy and her 7 pups. My neighbor fostered the 7 pups and while she was fostering the Director of The Cannoli Fund personally came to meet everyone and this is not uncommon.
That level of interaction is unique and very valuable. I am not alone in this experience there are stories all over our neighborhood similar to mine. The online forum Nextdoor for our neighborhood is full of people who reach out to Cannoli for help with cats and dogs as we have a particularly severe issue in the inner city.
I will foster and pick up starving animals any day because I know the Cannoli Fund will be there to back me up. There is nothing better than a non-profit you can rely on everytime.
The Cannoli Fund is an unbelievably helpful and MUCH needed resource in the King William & Lavaca neighborhoods in San Antonio. They were instrumental in helping me to rescue a new mother and her 7, yes 7, puppies. Because of the services The Cannoli Fund offers it was markedly easier to find homes for this little family. Now almost all adopted out, these pups will have vibrant futures with loving forever homes. Thank you, Cannoli Fund!
The Cannoli Fund has been a godsend to my neighborhood, which has been overrun with strays (especially cats) for many years. The Cannoli Fund came and trapped a colony across the street and now with TNR they are happy cats and are no longer breeding. One can only take in so many animals, and I have been feeding and spaying the ones I can for years. Once the Cannoli Fund came into existence, I feel like I have an ally and have been able to actually give veterinary care to the strays who have adopted me. :)! They have better quality of life now--the Cannoli Fund has greatly reduced animal suffering in our neighborhood. They are invaluable.
When we first moved into the King William neighborhood, we were immediately greeted by two hungry strays - one grumpy feral, one friendly but nervous diva. I named them Hisser and Pisser. The Cannoli Fund was quick to help me trap them - Hisser got fixed but the diva was already fixed...she had been dumped, left behind, or lost. She was not microchipped. Both got their left ear tipped and show up for breakfast and dinner daily now. Not long after, another very sweet cat, Domino and a big ol' bully, Mr. Socks started showing up. Domino was chipped and her owner didn't want her back, but her original rescue came and re-rescued her, they had her as a kitten. Mr. Socks got his shots, his ear tipped, etc and eventually wormed his way into my heart and home - we adopted him. Turns out he's a big ol' love bug. The Cannoli Fund and the TNR program (Trap, Neuter, Release) is so important to the King William, Lavaca neighborhoods in keeping the kitten factory out of business. The people who run this organization are top notch and I am forever grateful for their continued help with the cats that seem to "find me" and need help - the newest are Sturgis and Peanut who need forever families and have been transferred to a rescue.
The Cannoli Fund has helped me find homes for many an abandoned cat in need of basic medical attention and a loving home. The CF's targeted approached in one inner city neighborhood has dramatically improved the number of strays on the streets. I've seen many neighbors benefit who otherwise could not afford their fur friends.
