As a homeschooling mother I absolutely love Arts On Stage! Their programming is diverse. We've seen comedic family plays, historical plays, African acrobats, and Native American dancers! I appreciate that they have an affordable way to engage the community in a wide variety of performance arts! Keep up the GREAT work!
As a musical theatre teacher and vocal coach, I was very pleased with the organization, convenience, accommodations and production we enjoyed 12/15/15. I've lived in the area 30 years and didn't realize this gem was here! I will definitely be returning...in May in fact!
I have been a kindergarten teacher for 37 years and have been using Arts on Stage performances to enrich our classroom social studies and science programs for over 20 yrs.
Programs such as Thunderbird Native American Indian Dancers and Super Scientific Circus,
Butterfly, the Life Cycle Story have thrilled my little students -- they are usually mesmerized
by the performances and return to school highly motivated to learn more!
Arts on Stage does a wonderful job providing school age children an opportunity to experience live theatre.
Arts on Stage offers great live theater which is both educational and entertaining. My kids love our Arts on Stage field trips!!
Our Pre-K groups have been attending 2-3 performances each year for as long as I can remember--8 years?. We have found that the shows are of the highest quality and enjoyed by all-the children, staff and parents that attend. The price is affordable for our families and I really don't know how Arts on Stage offers this so inexpensively. Most of the shows have downloadable information and resources related to the performance for our Teachers- which they love! We are thrilled that Arts On Stage is now offering performances at the Maryland Hall as this is more local to our Center. Janet Klenkel- Anne Arundel Community College Child Development Center.

As Director of a nationally and state accredited early education program, we are always interested in providing "arts" experiences for our young children. Arts on Stage has offered high quality productions at a reasonably low cost. Many productions have on-line Teacher resources as well- which serve to enhance the experience. We feel so fortunate to have this wonderful resource in our community. I highly recommend this non-profit.

We love to learn by immersion and we Homeschooled our family of 4 kids (ages 23, 19, 14, & 10). Our two oldest are now in college with scholarships and most recently our oldest just got a job at NASA - JPL in Aerospace Engineering and our 2nd is going to Nursing school and is on a acrobatic/gymnastic team that performs all over the country even at NBA halftime shows. As I said we love taking field trips to bring us closer to what we are studying and in my coop I am on the field trip committee. Yesterday we went to see the Peking Acrobats at Goucher College, a Arts on Stage production. 30 people in our group attended with 995 seats in the theatre sold out to predominantly school children with their families and teachers. The show was Amazing and the Peking Acrobats were incredible! Seating and tickets were a breeze and the staff was well organized putting forth the message to Bring Arts back into the School. Prior to the show we printed off the study guide and studied China and the setting for the life of the Acrobats and compared it to our life in America with the similarities and the differences. The 15 page study guide was very comprehensive on the geography, culture, history, political setting and economy of China and even including vocabulary words. I would highly recommend this nonprofit to homeschools and schools and anyone with an interest. Schedule of shows can be found at www.artsonstage.org for a program that will be suitable for your family and for all ages and preferences.
We are a home school family, and my three children and I love field trips to Arts on Stage! We have seen several performances and each one has left us amazed. The venue at Goucher College is very nice. The acting teams are incredible. I am very thankful for an affordable way for my kids to experience high-quality art in music and acting!
I've taken my kids to three or four Arts on Stage LTD shows (ask my 7 year old which ones and when - he remembers every one in detail!) and we have had a wonderful experience. The shows are varied so we can always find ones that appeal to us and are on our level. The performances are superb! The events are always well managed - easy in, easy out. We love them! And will keep going year after year!
I am a retired teacher and a grandmother. Before retiring I found Arts on Stage and took my class and had a fantastic experience. Most of the teachers in my small private school then went as well. The programs cover Literature, History, Math, Science & Cultures. Now that I am retired I am now taking my homeschooled grandchildren. They love going and the programs undergird what is being taught at home and in such a fun way.
Arts on Stage presents many known and unknown children's stories in play format for younger audiences. It introduces kids to multicultural dances and famous historical figures in entertaining and easily accessible ways that allow children to gain a wealth of knowledge that they might otherwise find to difficult to understand or too boring to pay attention to. It is great for homeschooled children as well as traditionally educated students alike. My kids really like see the performances and so do we. We attend one to two shows a month during the school year. I wish they would expand and start offering shows in the summer!
I appreciate the variety of programs available for various age groups of children, and I appreciate that the teachers attend for free.
I am a homeschooling mother who jumped at the chance to open up my child's world to the arts and we couldn't be more pleased. The presentation was wonderful and my son didn't stop smiling. He loved getting to interact with the cast as they drew the audience into helping the characters! This was our first time attending and I know it won't be our last.... we've already made more reservations for this school year and can't wait to share with more of our friends!
I brought a group of 3rd graders to see one their shows and was very pleased with the performance. The show was very informative and engaging. The kids loved every minute of it and learned alot as well. I also appreciated that they included my deaf and hard of hearing students by providing an interpreter and bringing one of them up on stage as a participant.
I am the Director of a preschool and Daycare in Harford County. Our four-year-olds have been attending Arts on Stage programs for many many years. The staff children and parents look forward to this event all year long. All of the shows that we have seen are great. The staff at Arts on Stage does a wonderful job of organizing such a huge show. We look forward to our visit in March of 2013!
My family enjoys and looks forward to the many shows that are offered by Arts on Stage. We have seen some fabulous shows! With an 8 year old and a 4 year old, the shows are timed perfectly, so they are capable of sitting down to watch them, The prices are fantastic! I love that they are totally geared for the kids audience, but I thoroughly enjoy them too! I highly recommend going to these performances!
We like the fact that Arts on Stage uses theatre to educate others about Black history. The story was both entertaining and enlightening. The talented actors made the characters come to life. Their singing motivated the audience and added depth to the story of how the slaves were freed. Our only wish would be that the sets were more detailed and elaborate. Otherwise, the show was delightful.
I ama teacher for students with special needs. The play we saw, "The Hundred Dresses", was really well put together. The kids did seem to enjoy it, but would have liked it more if it had song and dance. We are only allowed to take trips on Wednesdays, and there was not much to choose from on that day.
I am thrilled that there is a program like Arts on Stage available. It makes the theater so much more accessible to the "average" class as well and giving a unique opportunity to so many schools and families. The plays are well rehearsed and draw the audience in, encouraging participation. The staff is helpful and courteous. And the kids not only have a fun visual experience but there are educational materials available to flesh out discussion! Highly recommended!
I have been taking my three year old class to your shows for many years and have found it a wonderful way to introduce live theater to them.We just saw The Wizard of Oz and found it to be one of your very best. Working with Leslie is always a pleasure and she runs a very excellant business. Thank you for all you do for the children to enrich them!

I teach pre-school in a Christian School. I have been taking my three year old class to Arts on Stage programs for over 15 years. It has always been a great experience for my class! The study guides help prepare my class and give me ideas to enrich the program. Everyone involved with the programs have been very helpful and profesional. I recomend arts on Stage to everyone.
I am a retired Elementary School Principal now helping to raise a grandson. My 5 year old grandson and I recently saw "The Wizard of Oz" production. It was quite an experience. Our seats were phenomenal and the acting was excellent. The scenery, the props used, the music and the story adaptation was phenomenal.
We are very fortunate to have such an outstanding group within our own area. I have now shared this with our PATH group ( Parents at Home) group and I am certain performances at nearby locations will be seen by even more preschoolers.
As a homeschool mom, my daughter & I have attended shows for the past 3years. I love the incredible variety of the professional shows:
fables, favorite children's books, history, science, dances, even math!
My daughter loves seeing her favorite books or interests (like dancing)
come alive with the actors, their costumes and all around fun! It really enriches the learning with an exciting field trip. Sometimes we read before about the subject before the show; sometimes after. Either way,
the downloadable resource material on the website is excellent too.
For example, one of her favorites was the Step Afrika dancing troupe.
Besides their great dancing, they taught the audience how to do some steps and emphasize the importance of education and grades!
I have been taking my Kindergarten class to Arts on Stage performances for many years. All have been high quality. Leslie Fowler and all of the volunteers are always very professional and helpful. This is a wonderful resource to enhance the education of children.
We have been taking our students to the show whenever the shows are age appropriate and have been thrilled with each production. The wide variety of topics, the performers , the fee and the venues are excellent. Highy recommend.
My husband and I took our granddaughters to Arts on Stage Ltd's performance of "Cinderella". We all loved it. The music, the actors, the costumes, the stage props were excellent. The staff was efficient and organized. It was a wonderful experience and we will definitely bring our grandkids back for other shows. Good work!
Arts on Stage is a wonderful organization. The people I worked with were so kind and understanding. They work with you, and you can tell they try hard to make your experience a pleasant one. I look forward to attending another event in May with my students!
We love Arts on Stage! As home schoolers, it's easy and economical to buy just the number of tickets we need. The shows have always been fun, entertaining and educational.
Arts on Stage LTD offers a large variety of shows for all ages and topics. The ticket prices have remained very economical through the years. Our teachers are always pleased with the content of the shows and the professionalism of the performances. We have tried other theater groups through the years but none of them can compare with the overall quality of Arts on Stage. Our parents also enjoy the shows they attend and bring very positive feedback.
I was in charge of taking our schools kindergarten class to Arts on Stage 2 years in a row. There is an extensive variety of shows; age appropriate and engaging. Our kids loved seeing theater; the music, the dancing, the scenary. Good communication with the directors. Good prices. Great show.
I am a teacher at a private school. Arts on Stage gives excellent productions. Employees are always friendly and professional. They are experts in their particular areas and are always willing to go beyond the call of duty to make sure that our school gets the information needed in a timely fashion to enjoy the production. Thank you Arts on Stage!
I am a teacher at a Baltimore city school. We are always short on funds, and so are our parents. But Arts On Stage has gone the extra mile to extend financial deadlines to accomodate us. We have never missed a show due to funding problems. Arts on Stage gives my students experiences that they otherwise would not have as a part of their background experience.
My fifth grade class usually attends an Arts on Stage show a year as a field trip. This fall's Dear America program did a wonderful job tying into the Social Studies curriculum and was both well crafted and performed. The staff is also very friendly and accommodating. We'll be back again!
Always a great show! My girls, 2 and 4 enjoy the shows...perfect length for this age and staff keep it well organized with all the different schools and kids attending.
I'm a homeschool mom who has taken my two daughters to several shows throughout the year. We've appreciated the diversity of programs offered. Maybe frequent attenders such as ourselves should be offered discounted tickets!?!
I am a pre-school teacher, and I have been attending excellent productions at ARTS ON STAGE for many years. The quality and variety of programs is outstanding. The children, teachers, and parent chaperones all love the shows; they are always entertaining, instructional, inspiring, and professional. We leave the theater excited, and we always spend the time on the school bus, talking about what we learned and what we liked best. After seeing Thunderbird Native American Dancers, our children return to school wanting us to put on our Native American CDs so they can try to perform the dances that they observed! The children and teachers are always inspired!
We are given a fieldtrip budget each year, and we always make sure that we attend several ARTS ON STAGE productions each year because we are selective and we want to make sure that our students are exposed to the best that is available. Even though we must hire a bus and drive for a total of an hour to attend a show, it is well worth the travel and admission. The value of the experience is always priceless.
I have always been impressed with the outstanding organization and hard work of the wonderful women behind ARTS ON STAGE. They do a phenomenal job, and much of the success can be attributed to them.
Colleagues who teach other grades at my school are also always thrilled with the productions that they attend at ARTS ON STAGE. I wish that I had suggestions, but I have always been completely satisfied, and all I can write is, "Keep up the fantastic work and keep the wonderful programs coming!"
I am a homeschool mother of 2 children and we have enjoyed so many Arts on Stage productions over the past 5 years. I appreciate the variety of performances offered. My children have enjoyed seeing some of their favorite books come to life on stage, Aesop's fables with puppets, dances and music from other cultures, and Christmas favorites. Arts on Stage has enriched our homeschooling experience.
I am a teacher in an urban district who looks for enriching and engaging activities for my students to atten. Arts On Stage is a great organization that provides quality, educational entertainment for my students. I bring my students to at least 2 perfomances per year.
I am a Kindergarten teacher in Annapolis. We planned a Lyle, Lyle Crocodile theme around the performance. The students loved it! It was comfortable and the greeters were very helpful.
I am a homeschool mom of two boys. Over the last several years we have enjoyed many fum performances provided by Arts on Stage. Our favorite was a presentation regarding space.
I have been working for several years now as an usher and board member for Arts on Stage. This nonprofit company brings great theater productions to school -aged children around the Baltimore area. These productions have included music, dance, children's literature, historical figures, and science. I have watched the excitement of children who are attending their first theatrical production, and it is contagious. Teachers and home-schooling parents are also provided with a study guide for the performance so follow-up can be done back at the school setting. Those involved in choosing the productions are very in-tune with the curriculum used in the public schools of the area so as to provide an educational as well as cultural experience. Presently the productions are held at Goucher College and Chesapeake Art Center.
My daughter and I have been attending Arts on Stage, Ltd performances for the past 7 years. I now bring along my Child Care children with us at least 2 times a year to see shows and they love it. I am always impressed with the actors/actresses performances which keep the childrens' attention. The staff is also friendly and accommodating to us which makes my preschoolers feel they are welcome there. Keep up the fantastic job. We are looking forward to seeing our next performance in the Spring
Arts on Stage provides wonderful educational shows! Our homeschool group attended "A Christmas Carol" in December of 2009 and is excited to be returning in February of 2011 to see "Apollo to the Moon." The families in our group really enjoy the shows and can't wait to come back for another one! The staff is always very helpful and quick to respond to all of our questions. I highly recommend them!
Arts On Stage is a wonderful organization. My older daughters have gone to shows as field trips at their public elementary school. My youngest daughter (still in preschool) has attended several shows with me over the last two years. My kids love these shows. They are engaging, entertaining, and just the right length of time. The staff is helpful and well-versed on how to get big groups of people moving around in an efficient manner. The provided summaries and target age groups seem spot-on to me, as well. It is so nice that my kids get a chance to enjoy theater at their young ages.
This was my first year taking students to an ArtsOnStage production. I was thrilled. I took my fifth grade class to see "Let Freedom Ring", the history of America in a one hour musical. It was a perfect fit for our Social Studies and Theater Arts curriculum. Thanks you ArtsOnStage!
I am a special education teacher at the Maryland School for the Blind. I have been taking my students to Art on Stage performances for the past 5 years. They have always accommodated us by making sure we had seating up close. The staff is friendly and respectful. The performances are both entertaining and educational. My students absolutely love coming to these shows and so do I!
