I have known of Mary through Pekingese rescue for many years. She gives her all to help dogs that no one else can be bothered to help. She goes without basic necessities, so the dogs never do without. She is one of the most selfless people I know. She goes without food, sleep, clothing, so she can help more dogs.

Euthanizing an innocent large breed puppy (an English mastiff named Bourbon) because they claim no one wanted adopt a large breed dog. When in fact you had several people wanting to adopt him. Your claim to be a loving environment & no kill shelter is a blatant lie!! You people should lose all government funding & downright ashamed of yourselves! You’re cruel & heartless & I don’t know how you can sleep at night knowing what you did to these poor animals!

Never have I met someone who dedicates so much of themselves and their personal resources to such a selfless act of helping animals that may never get over the trauma they have experience for the most important reason - because it matters.<br>

We adopted our 2 boys from Furever Home. The process was so easy and because of our experience, I am now a volunteer!

I enjoyed it there very much. As a student, it was really cool to see all the animals thriving. The staff were really nice and thoughtful!

Taysia Blue is a great rescue. The staff and volunteers are very knowledgeable of the breed and very good at picking the best match to place a dog in its forever home. They are there every step of the way from the interview process all the way past the official adoption process. They have an alumni group and they put together husky hikes and gatherings so you can meet other alums. This is a great organization and I will definitely come to them next time for adoptions. <br>

Joni has rescued animals under dangerous weather and flooding conditions; and in addition to rescuing and finding good homes for dogs, cats, and horses (including, of course, special needs animals), she has also rescued farmed animals and exotic animals from terrible situations, and after providing them with veterinary care, placed them in safe sanctuaries. Homeward Bound makes every resource count to work miracles. In addition to healing and homing homeless animals, Homeward Bound provides veterinary care to low-income families and dog and cat food to elderly animal guardians, to enable them to keep their companion animals at home. Homeward Bound's director was unceasing and heroic in daily efforts to recover Leche the dog, leaving no stone unturned and no avenue unexplored. Thanks to the efforts of the director and her associates, Leche was found, and received the home of his dreams with a loving family who adore him--first in Omaha, and now at the family's new home in the mountains of Utah, where Leche enjoys daily outings with his family in magnificent natural surroundings. Homeward Bound and Leche's family stay in touch, and the rescue receives regular updates and photos. I know, because it was I who first contacted Homeward Bound to ask for their help for Leche when he was sad, frightened, and homeless. Thanks to Homeward Bound in the Heartland's never giving up, Leche's fairy tale has come true, and he is happy, loved, and confident, with a beautiful life and a happy, secure future.

Asked for help. Was scolded. When it was brought to the attention of the business itself (not knowing the original email was from the owner/operator)- was scolded, then name called. Just needed information, got a verbal assault. Looks like not much has changed from a few years ago. Take your donations to a place that has integrity.

Very rude, dismissive staff. Some of their policies are not in the best interests of pets nor. They charge exorbitant fees.

Nebraska's Animal Loving Advocates is owned, operated, managed, and made possible by one person, Angie Hospodka. Nobody works harder and is more dedicated to serving the animal community of Southeast Nebraska than Angie. Because of Angie and NALA, displaced, underprivileged, and misrepresented dogs and cats have access to medical care that they might not otherwise be given. NALA seeks provide assistance to leaders of area rescue groups by informing and educating them in the field of medicine and hands-on veterinary clinic experience. There is not a more deserving nonprofit to be recognized and honored as a 2018 Great Nonprofit than Nebraska's Animal Loving Advocates.

I have worked with Border Collie Rescue for many years as a Veterinarian and have also had the opportunity to adopt one of their border collies. This Rescue group does a fantastic job of homing the dogs to the best possible match homes. They work on training the dogs while they are awaiting adoption. They treat any and all health issues that arise, whether those issues arrived prior to the dogs coming in to the rescue or after. Great group of people to work with. I highly recommend them.

I thought since there was a review of HETRA from a parent's perspective I would add one from a volunteer/student. I have been volunteering for several years now. I have always loved kids and horses so putting the two together has been perfect for me. HETRA has been not only a great way for me to give to the community, but a fun way to exercise along with so many other benefits I can't name them all. Volunteering at HETRA has been therapy for me as I know it has been for so many other volunteers too! I will never forget the times I have been having a horrible day and I get to the barn and within minutes literallyl I have forgotten about it and am just plain happy. Growing up with special needs of my own this was one place that I felt I could be open and not be judged or limited. In fact I think it has given me a special insight to a small piece of what some of the students and their families are going through. I can't say how many friends I have made through going to the barn. HETRA has been such a big part of my life and I don't plan to change that any time soon. In fact HETRA has been a big reason for me to try to find a job close by. Others have told me there are other therapeutic riding places around which is true, but I know it wouldn't be the same. I can't say thank you enough to those at HETRA who have taught me along the way about riding, horses, people, and life!

<br>The organization is EXTREMELY unprofessional, and does not put the welfare of its animals or their adoptive families first. <br><br>I adopted a cat from BHS Saturday, May 9 through PetSmart. BHS dropped her off that morning at the PetSmart, I adopted her that evening at 6. She had been spayed 4/30/20. By 8PM that same night, I noticed her incision was leaking fluid, dark red tissue was visible through holes in her skin, stitches poking through, and large patches of her skin were bright red. I called and left a VM at the BHS to let them know what was happening, and then called the emergency vet. They told me to bring her in that night. My cat I had had for two hours needed emergency surgery. The vet told me she was appalled BHS allowed her to be adopted in this condition, as it had obviously been infected for some time. <br><br>A woman from BHS called me the next afternoon. I informed her what had happened, and asked her what the protocol was to handle the bill. She was incredibly hostile, informed me once I signed the paperwork the cat was my responsibility (which, under almost all other circumstances— I would agree with), they would pay nothing. She proceeded to tell me the cat may have bumped her incision in my home, leading to the raging infection and need for emergency surgery and being sent home with two medications (Again, all in 2 hours...) therefore absolving them from responsibility. <br><br>Instead of this employee handling this difficult situation with compassion and grace, she said things like “if it makes you feel any better another cat was laying in a pool of blood with her intestines hanging out from messing with her sutures” and “I’m saying what I’m supposed to say.”<br><br>There are so many animals that need good homes. Patronize an organization that supports the animals AND the adopters.

This is not a legitimate, licensed rescue. Additionally, the owner has been posting on social media about killing several dogs in her care even though other rescues offered to take them in. I adopted Blondie, my English Pointer, from Great Plains Pointer Rescue two years ago when my daughter left to go to college. The group can answer all your questions and concerns about the dogs in their care. You know the good, the bad and ugly about the dog. They help you find the perfect fit for your situation and the perfect fit for the dog. They have a trainer who is also a volunteer who can help you address behavior concerns. I started fostering with GPPR 1 year ago and adopted Pepper, my German Shorthair Pointer/Brittany mix eight months ago. The best part about this group is that you accept only the dog(s) you feel you can handle. So if you only want young dogs, you get young dogs. If you want to help out seniors, you get seniors. If you go on vacation, they work as a team to find someone to babysit your foster. They are always there to answer questions and give advice. If you don't want to foster dogs, you can always help transport dogs or help out at events.

As a former teacher I benefited from the Wildlife week materials and activities. The materials were easy to incorporate into my lessons. Now everything is easily accessed through the website.
