Mission: Our Mission
To provide refuge for equine that might otherwise be abandoned, slaughtered or suffer abuse and neglect. Our sanctuary provides shelter, rehabilitation, and long term to end of life care. We also offer basic education to anyone interested in learning how to take care of equine either already in their care or if they are considering adding an equine member to their family.
Our Philosophy
We believe that the most stress free world for animals is one that mimics their natural environment as closely as possible. Horses were not meant to spend 23 hours a day in stalls. In the wild, horses roam free, and bond together with their herd... that is what they do here too!
Horses are grazing animals and were meant to live primarily on forage. Here in southern Oklahoma, we are blessed with a fairly mild climate. Our horses can comfortably live outdoors all year round with minimal blanketing, and they are supplemented with high quality free choice hay during the winter.
To complement our pastures and hay, we feed the horses with high quality feeds. With high levels of energy from fat and low levels from rapidly digestible starch, readily available minerals, and high quality all plant protein ingredients, it is specially designed to meet the energy, mineral and protein needs of our retired equine friends.
Awesome organization! I didn't want my son's horse going to an auction or a kill place. These people stepped in and helped out. I couldn't recommend anyone more than these people, the kindest sweetest most caring people I have met. They are truly the horse's best advocate!
Fantastic! And such an awesome resource! When I was rescuing a horse from the kill pen in TX (Im out of state) I had no idea who to call to go get him, where he could QT and so on. Linda was absolutely terrific. Got me in touch with the wonderful people who got him and cared for him until I could bring him (and his new girlfriend!) north. Linda is just wonderful. Lucky lucky animals to be at Grey Oaks!
Linda at Gray Oaks is an amazing woman! She stepped up to the plate and took in an aged, untouched mustang that no one else wanted. I know he has his forever home now. I have visited this rescue and was impressed with how the horses are so well taken care of. Thank you Linda for all you do!
Grey Oaks Equine Sanctuary hasn't rescued a non mustang in many years, but they couldn't let this aged standard bred mare not have a grand retirement. 'Noble Fashion' will hopefully be a companion to an aged Mustang mare at the sanctuary and live out her years in peace.
Even when this sanctuary is full and can not take in any more horses physically they do their best to network, share, and save lives! Remarkable place.
Whether bailing Mustangs from kill pens or trying to help others re-home their horses, this sanctuary is there for the horses. Wonderful place for any breed of horse to call home.
This rescue always sends updates about the horses they have rescued, that really means a lot to me. Love seeing the pictures of these once thrown away horses thriving!
This sanctuary tries it's best to help the older Mustangs, they have rescued several from Kill Pens in recent years and have brought them back to great health with shiny coats, fat bellies, and a peaceful place to call home for the rest of their lives.

This sanctuary with the help of a foster rescued 4 Navajo foals torn from their dams and sent to a kill pen in Kansas. They received veterinary care, a foster who did a marvelous job caring for them and now they have a permanent home pending.

I had an unhandled branded Mustang that needed to find a forever home as I fell ill and could no longer care for him. Grey Oaks Equine Sanctuary stepped up for him when the saw the need. Thank you, I can recuperate in peace knowing he has a caring forever home.

This is THE SANCTUARY that deserves all our support! They are the only rescue in the country that was established for aged and discarded mustangs. the last slice of heaven still on earth for senior wild horses.
We have fund raised and rescued a beautiful aged Mustang mare from a kill pen with the help of an amazing group of followers. I love being a part of this sanctuary!
This sanctuary goes above and beyond rescuing and rehabbing horses. Their specialty is Mustangs , taking them all the way from abandonment and neglect to thriving, happy four-legged treasures.
Our family adopted a beautiful red roan gelding from this rescue, he had been a used as a lesson horse at a stable in New Orleans. When the stable decided to retire him, Grey Oaks Equine Sanctuary rescued him before he was to be sent to a kill lot.
He is a wonderful guy with a fantastic personality. Needless to say we love him very much.
Grey Oaks is my daughters equine sanctuary and believe me she is in this endeavor for the long haul. All the horses are very well taken care of and loved. I'm very proud of her.

Wonderfully friendly and knowledgeable regarding sanctuary horse care. Took me on an impromptu tour and the horses all looked so happy running together in pure happiness. While we were at the fence admiring them they came up to see who was visiting. A fun experience.
