I have partnered with Nanubhai Education Fund for a few years now and have thoroughly enjoyed working with them and most importantly the work we do. By providing scholarships for young women, NEF is not only enabling them to socioeconomically move up but also giving them confidence and the ability to set an example for generations to follow. And scholarships are just part of the work they do, the support they provide these young ladies is incredible and I’m so proud to partner with them!
I'm happy to tell you about the non profit organization NEF is doing the best work in the world. I'm also NEF scholar and now I have finished my graduation. It's possible because of NEF. They help poor girl who wants to go to college. girls facing financial problems but want to go to college and girls are also smart and good in study so that time NEF helps them to provide college fees. 90 % college fees given to me by them. My college fees were 18000 rupees and they gave me 15000 rupees it's large amount for me. Thank you so much all NEF members. you all are GOD for me
I worked for Nanubhai as an intern several years ago and had a wonderful experience. They do great work trying to close the education gap in rural India. I learned a lot, and got to explore a really interesting new place.
Amazing, talented leadership team. The diversity of Nanubhai Education Foundation (NEF) fosters a welcoming, collaborative environment. I met with many doctors and nurses learning more about women's education and the importance of representation in healthcare. I learned so much during my time working with NEF and their dedication to their mission is truly inspiring.
As a soon-to-be-father of a young girl I have a strong belief that women should have the right to a free basic education. To this end, Nanubhai does amazing work in rural India. I am always impressed by the passion and dedication of the indefatigable volunteers and staff who serve the organization. They help people escape poverty and raise the standard of living. I am impressed with the work that they're doing with curriculum development. Keep up the amazing work and thank you for what you do!
The Nanubhai Education Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 dedicated to providing higher education access to financially vulnerable young women in rural India through sustainable and scalable programming. The Nanubhai Scholars program provides college scholarships, with over 125 graduates as of fall 2020 and 240 Scholars in college at any given time. The average graduate more than quadruples their family's income within two years of graduation. To date, we have pumped more than $240,000USD into local communities via graduate salaries.
I have been involved with Nanubhai for two years now, as both a Board Member as well as a Program Director. We work to try and strengthen rural public education in India through a variety of measures.
Looking at quality of education, as opposed to access to education, is a fairly new idea in rural India. Despite many challenges, we remain committed to research, outreach, and culturally appropriate methods of changing existing systems for the better.
Nanubhai's mission is crucial to the cause of rural education in India. Through workshops, facilitated trainings, and new partnerships with schools, Nanubhai works to improve teacher quality and thus education quality in rural India. The staff is professional and passionate about the organization's mission, and the team works to become a cohesive unit that contributes to the overall success of Nanubhai's programs.
Review from Guidestar
It has been a great experience working with this organization. Particularly its has a tremendous approach toward teacher training for rural primary school teachers in Gujarat. This is the only organization I have come across which works in such a diverse environment with American staff. Great going. Keep it Up..!!
I am currently concerned about rural education in India. There is a growing gap between the quality of urban education and rural education in up and coming economies. All the focus is on urban education. How can rural students compete? I am currently volunteering with the Nanubhai Education Foundation. I am really pleased and impressed by this organization. Their mission is to improve rural education in India by empowering rural Indian students through English language proficiency.
I am thoroughly impressed by their commitment and dedication. Since 2004, Nanubhai Education Foundation has worked to improve rural education in India by helping rural students, not only improving English, but with IT/software skills as well.
They also have a fellowship program that sends American trained educators to teach. lead trainings and conduct research in India. Fellows work with local principles to establish before and after school programs.
All the while, fellows are encouraged to Blog about their experiences, and most of them are very uplifting. I think this is a great charity and does not get enough attention. I wish more people knew about the great work they do to improve rural education in India. If you are so inclined, you can even sponsor a child in India with the Nanubhai Education Foundation.
I recently started to volunteer with The Nanubhai Education Foundation and I am amazed at how committed the team in India and in the US is on a daily basis. I have had great support from the team in my role and have been able to really get involved and feel like I am able to really make a difference. Nanubhai’s grassroots approach has already made such a big impact on the schools in rural India . I have already learned so much through working with Nanubhai and have found the experience to be so rewarding. I would recommend this organization to anyone that is looking to make an impact on rural education and that is looking to take a hands on approach to volunteering.
I have put together a small group of people who are interested in helping to fundraise this cause. I belive this is a great cause that reaches out to children who lack education. There is nothing better than making children educated who are not capable of recieving an education. Nanubhai is a very good way of reaching out to those children. I am very glad I have been given the opportunity to participate in this. I am hoping to fundraise a good amount and be apart of this organization!
Nanubhai is a new organization full of people with big hearts. They have dedicated their time, knowledge, and love towards N.E.F. in hopes to give children in Gujrat equal opportunity at education. I believe that an organization that is just beginning to grow and has so much impact on a vast amount of children is something rare to find in organizations today.
As part of my graduate program in Economic and Political Development at Columbia University, I was required to do a summer internship. I found the Nanubhai Education Foundation at an NGO Fair, and was immediately impressed by the passion and effervescence of some of the volunteers and staff. Thus, I decided to pursue an internship in India with the Foundation. I can today say with 100% confidence that Nanubhai is doing AMAZING work for education in rural India. My firsthand experience in some of their target schools really exposed me to the lack of capable teachers in many of India's schools. The need for Nanubhai's services is real, childrens' appetite to learn is massive, and the passion and committment of Nanubhai staff is inspirational. I hope I can remain involved and spread the word about the wonderful and critical work that Nanubhai Education Foundation is doing.
I volunteer with Nanubhai Education Foundation (NEF). I came across the Nanubhai Education Foundation at a local grassroots forum. From the many South Asian organizations that were present at this forum, I was drawn to Nanubhai by the volunteer who presented this young non-profit. She spoke with charisma and candidly displayed her interest in truly educating children in rural India, although she had never been there before. She took the audience through a multitude of life experiences that the children there are exposed to. She captivated the simple moments that seem ordinary to Americans as extreme challenges in rural India. For example, using a computer, learning English, having electricity... Those were just a few of the things she had mentioned. What really hit home for me, was when she mentioned the name of the high school that Nanubhai Education Foundation supported in it’s initial strategy to revitalize the curriculum in rural India. The name sounded familiar and I began to question if it was the high school my father had attended. After walking away from the forum, I felt moved and ready to take action. I confirmed with my dad that it was his high school and we were both very excited. I approached the Nanubhai board, and received such positive responses. All of the volunteers I encountered were so driven and motivated to make a change in rural India. They were based in the USA and several are living in India. I think this has been such a rewarding experience. I know there are many great causes out there, but having the ability to support education and literacy in a developing country is building a foundation for decades to come. Knowing that we will leave such a legacy behind, I am extremely proud of what NEF has already come to achieve in it’s short five years. I am ready to see what great things are yet to come, and encourage anyone who has an extra minute to learn a little bit more about NEF at www.nanubhai.org . Next, spread the word. Lack of awareness is probably one of our biggest challenges. Growing up in America, education is a part of our lives. I know it’s tough to decide where to allocate the very little time we have in our busy lives, but take a look deeper to see what the volunteers are like. It will tell you everything you need to help you make the final decision.
I'm one of the newest volunteers, but in a long-term position, and while I jumped in the middle of several long-term plans and suddenly had a lot to help with, I was presented with a lot of support from everyone, including being introduced to others who could help me. In fact, the thing I was impressed by within hours of starting to volunteer was the professionalism, spirit, energy, and skill that dominates the staff. It's a small organization, but with big plans, and a rapidly developing program in India to support those plans.
I joined Nanubhai as a volunteer in 2007 and have worked in a number of different capacities, including event-planning, grant applications, fund-raising, and communications. I came onboard because I was deeply inspired by the organization's mission to help kids in rural Indian communities and by the enthusiasm and dedication of the other volunteers I spoke with. What makes Nanubhai especially compelling is that it works at the grassroots level, within existing public schools, and that it targets very specific educational initiatives relevant to India's growing role in the world economy: IT skills, English language, and girls' empowerment. Since I first connected with Nanubhai, I have been rewarded over and over again by seeing the results of our efforts in the improved school facilities and learning opportunities for the kids. I've also been impressed by the talent and passion of all the volunteers and fellows I've had the opportunity to work with. This is an organization I am proud to be part of and would recommend to anyone.
The Nanubhai Education Foundation is an amazing organization that seeks to advance education in rural India by promoting English and technology education at the grassroots level. India is changing so rapidly, but a large portion of the population does not participate in the new economy. Through NEF, highly qualified and committed American teachers are sent to public high schools. I have been impressed by the teachers in India, and have had the privilege to talk to several about their experiences. I am also excited to meet and talk to new volunteers willing to donate their time to help us on fundraising and outreach. It is incredibly rewarding to be part of an organization that has already done so much to give underprivileged children in India an opportunity to climb out of poverty and committed to building on that momentum one student, one classroom and one high school at a time. We are always looking for committed volunteers to help us here and in India, and encourage anyone interested to visit our website at www.nanubhai.org or e-mail me at kandarp@nanubhai.org.
I worked for Nanubhai Education Foundation as one of their fellows in the 2008-2009 school year. Cat, another Nanubhai fellow, and I taught academic school English classes as well as before and after school Computer Classes and Spoken English Classes. Everyday I had the chance to work with motivated, hard-working students who were eager to try the challenges that Cat and I, the presented in our classes. We challenged students with interactive classes that required students to demonstrate their mastery of English and IT skills through completion of various projects as well as to increase their flexibility and fluency with Spoken English through Spoken English games and plays written and performed by students. At the same time, the students taught us about their lives, their town, their school, and their languages. It was an incredibly rewarding experiences and I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to do this work through Nanubhai.
I worked with the Nanubhai Education Foundation on their New York City fundraiser March 2009. The event was a success and a blast to produce. The core team really makes you feel like one of the family. I will work with them again in the future and would recommend anyone volunteering for them who wants to be part of a warm, organized and productive team.
