I was a sidewalk sleeper, these people got me an affordable apartment

'Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has'. That quote by Margaret Mead inspires me...to give, to make a difference.<br><br>This is #MyGivingStory....a Story about 'Sport n Art 4 a Cause'<br><br>Early morning. a well-made Espresso. then a PCH ride on my motorcycle. After a few miles of feeling the ocean breeze - a cool little question popped up - 'What makes me happy?'...That just meant, time for a stop at the Marmalade Cafe...Along with an egg-white-frittata (highly recommend it!) breakfast, came a little answer. <br><br>I have always been passionate about Sport & Art. Realms that have always brought joy to me - high tide or low tide. But then a question came up 'What's passion without purpose?'<br><br>By the time i got my Shadow to kick up again to top gear, i came up with a fundraiser idea - for this awesome non-profit (A Window Between Worlds http://www.awbw.org) that uses Art as a Healing Tool for survivors of trauma &rsquo;n abuse, thereby making a positive difference in their lives. <br><br>An idea..that would be fun..that would bring in art for the sports fan..with a purpose.<br><br>.and when Passion meets Purpose, Life happens!<br><br>Check out this short film about my journey of 'Sport n Art 4 a Cause&rsquo;...a football-themed facepainting fundraiser towards AWBW's cause.<br><br>https://vimeo.com/106140055<br><br>It&rsquo;s truly a #OurGivingStory with so many amazing people involved in making this happen. Venice Family Clinic addresses the most pressing health issues for the homeless, families and those who cannot find adequate health care due to a pre-existing condition - they can apply to Healthy Way LA or pay a very reasonable payment for services. <br> <br> I am a regular volunteer for the Venice Art Walk, which has become a popular opportunity for local artists to donate and showcase their work and for folks to mingle with the artists and local philanthropists. It's a true community affair. The VFC has a small staff of doctors and a large pool of incredible doctors and other medical professionals who donate their time to serve our community.

I was a student member of the Inside Out Community Arts Program from 2000-2002 at Henry Clay Middle School. I joined the program out of sheer curiosity and had little understanding of what I was about to get myself into. Joining the Iniside Out Program was one of the best decisions of my life! <br>Through this program I interacted with great artists, whose interest was to share their trade with us and to guide us through community building within our school. In the Inside Out Program, I was finally able to express myself, regarding all of the problems that I was feeling as a pre-teen and of any problems concerning the community that I lived in. Inside Out gives it students the necessary tools to cope with the world around them and provides them with a safe place to find their voices. The students participate in various workshops that prepare them for their "final project", which is to write and perform and original play about a topic of the students' choosing. The students also get to participate in weekend workshops with their parents and get to go an a weekend camping trip where the students meet students from neighboring middle schools. On this trip the students put the final touches on their plays and get to perform and critique each others plays, before they are performed for their parents. <br> <br>Inside Out gives their students a sense of autonomy and control and provides the students with the tools to be able to communicate with others.
