I work for the GrassRoots festival, which provides family-friendly world music, arts and dance to communities along the the east coast. Our non-profit organization facilitates music workshops in schools, builds play structures and pavilions for parks and farmers' markets and hosts 4-day music festivals. Our festivals are a holistic platform for green business, healing arts, dance workshops, and music, music, music!
I recommend volunteering at GrassRoots, whether it be in North Carolina, New York or Florida, as a way of adding value to your festival experience! There are opportunities to learn carpentry skills by helping build a structure, help our zero-waste team attain a clean and sustainable event, help with ticket sales, stage coordination and more! We offer festival passes in exchange for your time, allowing lower income and generous folks to experience the full festival experience.
Also, our volunteer coordinators are amazing hard-working women who will help you find the best match for your interest and skills! Thank you.

I first volunteered for the GrassRoots Festival when I was 15 and attended the Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival for the second time that summer. I had attended the year before but had purchased a ticket. The event was amazing, music from all over the world, dancing all night, kids running around having a blast, amazing food of all kinds...a super welcoming environment boasting freedom and creativity, a place to open and relax.

Volunteering for my ticket was a whole new experience, it connected us with the people putting on the event and with the event itself in a whole new way. It truly does build community. And it donates profits to local and global not-for-profits ranging from Doctors without Borders to the local library, historic theatre and soccer team among many others.

I very much recommend volunteering for your ticket if you have the time, you'll likely learn skills you don't have and meet new friends for sure!
