Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals

Mission: We reduce the animal population and reduce the risk of disease on the reservation by removing abused, neglected and unwanted animals from the reservation. We get them to the safety of our foster homes, then transport them to rescue groups outside of the reservation for rehoming. We also provide free spay/neuter clinics for animals remaining on the reservation.

The Lake Traverse Animal Rezcue has made a huge difference in the lives of animals on the reservation. They remove abused, neglected and unwanted animals from the reservation, and transport them to rescue partners for rehoming. For animals that have great homes on the reservation, LTAR provides free spay/neuter and vaccination clinics. To date, over 1600 animals have been spayed and neutered, this has dramatically reduced the amount of animals having unwanted litters. It also helps make the community safer, because altered animals are less likely to bite people.
