Robin has endless energy and compassion for animals large and small. The love and time she and staff dedicate to foster, nurture and help with injuries and recovery is such a large asset to the community. The endless line if kittens both healthy and sickly that cross her doorstep never stops but she faces each case with strength and knowledge. She has desexed so many fur babies which has such a positive impact. She deserves this recognition. Bless you Maddie and Friends.

Roughly about 6-7 years ago if someone had told me my entire way of life would change, I’m pretty sure I would have laughed. I was stuck in a dark/unfulfilled place in life. I was unsure of what I was going to do with my life and what I really loved in life. I felt as though I lacked a sense of belonging or purpose. I had been involved in an abusive relationship with my mother. I was put into the foster care system at the age of 14. Lucky I had some great supportive people who were willing to do whatever it took to keep me with them (my godparents). I fell into a state of mind where I was somewhat depressed, that’s when Dawn and all of the horses of Ravenwood Riding Academy came into my life. I met Dawn through a good friend of mine. After meeting Dawn, I knew that this was something I wanted to do long term. Ever since then I was taking lessons, leasing horses, helping around, etc. Horses have been our friends, our therapists, our partners-in-crime, and our healers. Their bodies have given us stability and strength. They gave me strength when I needed it the most. They gave me the freedom to escape my pain. Horses have given me so much, they are definitely life changing. I know firsthand the healing power of horses. Nothing has healed my heart like they have, over and over again from the all of the damaging things I’ve went through as a child/teen to all of my current problems. Horseback riding is more than just a sport. Its a partnership. It allows me to take my mind off of anything that has been worrying or stressing me out. Although it may only be for an hour or so it’s a huge stress relief when I need it. Horses have taught me an incredible amount about myself and how I cope with day to day problems. They have taught me how I cope under pressure and that in times of need I think fast and act quick. They have helped me find my purpose in life.<br>The relationship between humans and horses is unlike any other. I will forever be grateful for having them come into my life because without them I honestly don’t know where I’d be today.
