Transition Projects is dedicated to improving the lives of those who most need our support. They are dedicated to strategies, tools, and approaches that have been shown to create meaningful and lasting impact. It isn't just about the shelter services. It is also about the Rentwell program and the other partnerships TPI has built with governmental and community partners.

This place is incredibly mismanaged. They cannot even seem to perform at a functioning level. Updating their contact information and making it easier for financial donors to update their information seems like it should be a priority. Guess not.

We have been trying to complete the lending process quickly since we have a baby coming in the next couple months. When I called NHI, Charlie slot me in for the very next day in the middle of a busy week. That is helping us move forward to the next steps! Also, he was proffessional and helpful: willing to give me any info I needed and he was able to answer all my questions as well as teach me about the systems in the house we plan to purchase!

As family members of someone who was being abused by their spouse in a foreign country, we were totally helpless. There was no organization to assist our loved ones - a sister and her children. People think that the local US Embassy will send a person home if need be. Not the case in most instances. She eventually made it out alive with all children intact (except for the emotional and physical trauma they all suffered). Having no formal organizations other than family support systems back home in the USA, Paula Lucas founded what is now Pathways to Safety International to help others who were once in her shoes. She started from the ground up and learned how to navigate being home and the court systems slowly and tediously. We shared in her experiences and those of her little ones and tried to protect her from her abusive spouse, who stalked her and tried to find them on numerous occasions. The organization has changed over the years, becoming better with each update. The organization has won awards for the wonderful work they do. They now have safety planning, relocation services, counseling and housing availability and more. We donate regularly to assist and encourage others to do the same, especially if you have a loved one traveling to a foreign nation.

I have volunteered here before and its a great org. They care about people, and making a difference. They live up to their mission - as best as they can. They also work with local churches that help out with this cause - which is fantastic.

RMHC is family! They will always hold a special place in mine and my family's heart! They have always gone over the top to help us, comfort us, and always lend an ear for difficult times. More people really need to know how great this place is as well as the staff! Thank you RMCH from the bottom of our hearts!!!

The staff at Portland Animal Welfare are very caring, helpful, sympathetic, the team is great with their patients (The Animals and their humans) that even while my dog was in the process of dying, they did everything to make him comfortable so that he could pass away on his own. PAW Team has also been wonderful with my cat and understanding with the circumstances of animals and their people to a point that they far exceed any award. Thank-you PAW Team for assisting me and others who are less fortunate than myself. I've been there too, but PAW TEAM has been there for me since I showed up at their clinic in 2011! They are a wonderful group of deeply caring individuals. <br>Thank-you for all that you do for pets and their people! <br>

JOIN helped my daughter and I more than anyone could imagine. After a DV incident with a roomate, we ended up in our car, broke because I had just paid rent before getting locked out, when all seemed bleak, an outreach worker showed up where we were parked, and 4 days later my daughter and I were in our own apartment. Working full time I was still not able to afford move in costs, join took that barrier away from me. I OWE JOIN a very heart filled THANK YOU!

So to any prospective tenants please do yourself a favor and avoid renting a unit from a reach Community Development property in Portland Oregon and Southwest Washington State

I was a renter who was eager to own my own home, but Portland's housing market was out of control, I could only afford homes way out of the way, or ones that would need lots of repairs. I liked what Proud Ground offered, a way for me to purchase a home that was the right size, and in a neighborhood that is not too far away from my work. I was delighted to be a part of something that would ensure that this opportunity would be available in the future for other home buyers.

I have worked here for 7 years as a macro MSW, supporting their self-governed, self-operated administration and as a professional researcher. This is the very first democratically operated village (intentional community) for unhoused people in the world, since 2000. The villagers are not only the elected board officers, they are the legal voting members of the incorporated 501c3. They literally created the Village Model and have been refining it ever since. Their democratic power is literal, rather than euphemistic as in the fauxvilles. Research study after research study vindicates us time and again as an ideal model for shelter. At Dignity, people find their strengths and abilities by being given lots of democratic leadership development opportunities. They often come to us in pretty rough shape with low self esteem, and yes some even addicted to drugs. But Dignity Village gives people a sense of pride, value, and purpose, a reason to hope and work toward a better life. Dignity Village helps people heal from the isolation of long term homelessness and re/grow social skills through bonding and navigating the complex social system that is a democratic village. We sometimes get blamed for the encampments a few blocks away, which we have no control over and were directed by police officers to go there to be left alone by police and to get into the City's SRV site. But inside our gates, we are the safest neighborhood in Portland. We operate like a very tight-knit small town.

My story is Central City concerns is a bunch of crooks taking advantage of the homeless and the poor people lining their pockets with the government funding not taking care of the cockroaches in their buildings and not taking care of anything in their buildings somebody found 200 extra dollar just on my rent ledger and the next day that person was fired didn't work here. No more. They're a bunch of f****** crooks it's making me post a rating and I chose one but I didn't want to choose any cuz these people are crooks that need to be audited <br>

I'm a "client served" in the side of being a customer at their store in Tigard. The place has immensely improved over the years! It is *much* better organized than it used to be, and the current manager is very friendly and reasonable. I have also talked with several of the other people they have working there-- people who have gone through their program-- and they have expressed a lot of gratitude for the program and how it has helped them get on their feet in multiple good ways. Whenever I donate, I always want to donate to them (and to suggest other people do too), to help more people!

Check this charity before donating. Another lawsuit. Problem financials. Not actual a Native American organization. Absolutely no preference to Natives in services or jobs. Employees do not call back. If you stand up to the leadership of NAYA, you are bullied, harassed and threatened.

Habitat is a amazing organization that help many people of every race find affordable housing in a city with sky rocketing housing cost. I can personally testify that this organization and its staff truly do make a difference in not only our communities but changes life's of the families it helps. They truly do believe in what they do and it shows. <br>And God bless them for helping build a safe area/play structure for children to play community where there was none. Obviously there was a need or Kaboom! and Carmax & Habitat would of partnered together to build it.<br><br>

Outside In values each individual and has an established culture steeped in mutual respect. The staff at Outside In work to advocate for the youth and find positive solutions. Portland, Oregon is a better place with a richer community due to the work accomplished in and through Outside In. Excellent healthcare providers, youth advocates!

Street Roots is an amazing newspaper as far as content and quality, because the staff bust their butts with a tiny budget to do great research and tackle hard, topical issues around homelessness and housing. They do far better with less than the mainstream papers in Portland as far as in-depth coverage of issues important to me. Also, they are great advocates, actually jumping into different issues around homelessness in Portland, putting pressure where pressure is needed. As an affordable housing professional, they are valuable to me because they keep the important issues on the political table, and are a source of important information to our community. They are also great with the vendors - the people experiencing poverty and homelessness - offering them gainful employment, community, dignity, and genuine care and respect. I don't have a lot of money but when I do I like to share it with Street Roots.

P:ear saved my life. I came there directly off an amtrack bus while i was homeless and very new to Portland. I worked with p:ear as a studio space, daytime drop in center and resource for education and activities. I went hiking, i got hot meals and socks, as well as sold art for a hefty profit. Beth and Pippa mentored me and encouraged me every step of the way. If it wasn't for this place i wouldn't have gotten my first months rent for my first home. I wouldn't have gotten my job or survived debilitating mental illness and abusive relationships. I learned so much from working with p:ear and I owe it all to them.

This organization is about helping people help themselves and about second chances for those with barriers to employment. It's about helping veterans, prior offenders, at-risk youth and others become taxpayers instead of tax consumers. And it's about low and moderate income families buying their own home and beginning to build equity and personal wealth for their families. The National Urban Housing & Economic CDC stabilizes families and communities.

Rose Haven has a holistic approach to helping women and children in need. They are a single point of contact for women to access resources, vital supplies and be safe.

ROSE has been making a huge impact in SE Portland for over 20 years. My Wife and I recently moved into a neighborhood that ROSE focuses on. It's good to know that there is effective work being done by ROSE in affordable housing, innovative programs, and economic development.
