Mission: Manumit United, a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation created in Oct., 2016 to provide a financial education in the areas of entrepreneurship, personal and professional development. With our supportive community of mentors and a commitment to each other we're able to pursue the life we were created to experience. After many years in business like most people we've come to the understanding that our economy just isn't what it used to be. For the most part, the old ways of earning a living just don't work anymore. The days of landing a good job with a solid company with great benefits including a pension plan are a thing of the past. Why is it that the education we get in school in many cases mostly prepares us for more schooling and not so much attention in the areas of creating financial independence? In fact, much of what is taught about finances in school is wrong. It seems to be all about learning how to work for a paycheck. What if you can't get a job, where's the education on how to create one? We want our kids to be able to support themselves yet the formula for wealth is nowhere to be found in the curriculum. If you're just entering the workforce as a young adult you may feel unprepared for the challenges you face. Let's face it, we go from one day having to raise our hand to get permission to use the bathroom to being expected to support ourselves! If you've been working for 20 years, have a home, family, and a decent career, you may still find yourself on a tight budget. Oh, and with a underfunded retirement account, perhaps some credit card bills and even student loan debt. If you're nearing the age you'd like to retire and you have a pension coming, a social security check, and even a good savings and retirement account. You may still not feel quite as financially secure as you'd like to be. There comes a time when we're forced to face reality which doesn't usually happen on a college campus. Let's not wait any longer to self evaluate where we are and where we're headed. Regardless if you're just starting out in life or if you're looking to improve the quality of your retirement years, Manumit United has something special to share with you.
