Mission: To continuously enhance the lives of individuals with Down syndrome through the education and support of people with Down syndrome, their families, their friends, their teachers and the community as a whole. To insure individuals are valued, included and live fulfilling lives in the community.
Direct beneficiaries per year: Over 130 new families supported, more than 80 participants in the Advocates in Motion (AIM) Program for teens and young adults
Geographic areas served: Massachusetts and New England
Programs: The Purposes of MDSC are:1. To provide new parents with information, resources and support. 2. To advocate for the inclusion of people with Down syndrome into all aspects of the community, with particular consideration for schools and the workplace. 3. To serve as a clearing house for gathering and disseminating accurate, up-to-date, information about Down syndrome. 4. To address social policy issues with state & local human service agencies. 5. To better educate the public about Down syndrome. 6. To encourage research related to Down syndrome and quality human services. 7. To educate communities through the celebration of Down Syndrome Awareness Month. 8. To solicit and distribute funding for these accomplishments.
