I cannot thank Chris enough. I saw a feral cat on my ring camera broken leg. I caught the cat and brought him to the vet. The vet said the bone was scattered and needed to be amputated. I paid the vet bills myself with the vet doing the procedure at cost. I kept the cat until he healed but in good conscience I couldn't release him or could I adopt him. On a whim I contacted Chris and I got an immediate response. Bring him here. I will never forget his kindness.
My name is Martha Hernandez and my story is sad but it does have a Happy ending because of Chris at Happy Cat Sanctuary. I was evicted from my apartment at Woodlands in Belleville NJ for exposing the horrific crimes against cats and wildlife at Woodlands.Aion Management killed100's of cats and wildlife at Woodlands.I made YouTube videos and have a Facebook page Help Save Belleville Cats. Chris came across my page and saved many Woodlands cats and he is still saving cats at Woodlands. Aion management is abusing 4 elderly cats at their other property in Belleville NJ the Joralemon Apts. They don't allow those cats to eat or have shelters. One was recently killed because he was cold and hungry. Chris is going to save those 3 remaining cats. Chris is an Angel on Earth and ❤️ I can't thank him enough for saving so many lives. God bless him and everyone at Happy Cat Sanctuary.
Supporter and donor for several years now. First saw them on the news. It's such an amazing story how they started. Love what they do for not just cats, but all animals that come their way. These cats are treated better than most cats I see. I will continue to support them for as long as I can.
I recently had the pleasure of bringing some of my feral cats to Happy Cat Sanctuary. I also had the opportunity to tour the Santuary. I couldn't be more impressed with the care they recieved. As I prepare to move from New York to Florida. I'm feeling much more secure knowing that my colony will be well taken care of at the Sanctuary. Witnessing the dedication that Chris has with the cats, only reassured me that these cats won't be left behind to fend for themselves. I highly recommend Happy Cat Sanctuary to anyone seeking to support a cause or find a new furry friend. Please consider donating to the Santuary to help further their mission and support the well-being of these deserving cats.
We were moving to Florida and I was taking care of a community cat, Garfield for years. I could not just leave him without knowing that he has care that he needs. Chris was the only place that allowed me to come and tour the place without any hesitation. Forever grateful for his help
Chris has the most pure heart and he has been the victim of loony tunes rival rescues who have been trying to stand in his way. It is a disgrace.
Everyone should support this kind and gracious man's efforts to help poor homeless cats.
This kind of sanctuary is much needed. People throw cats out like they are trash. People do not spay and neuter their cats and that, becomes a huge problem. I do cat rescue as well and it is not easy. If people would only gain some empathy and spay/neuter and care for all cats that come their way, the world would be a much better place. Chris is walking the walk to help helpless and suffering animals. The cats become pregnant when they are babies themselves. Spay and neuter please.
I am from canada and i have been following chris for years. I admire his total dedication to the cats under his wings. He is a real cat angel and a hero. Thank you Chris. We need more people like you!
Happy Cat Inc. is an amazing sanctuary for the areas feral and abandoned cats. Chris and his team work hard at creating and maintaining a safe and clean home for the cats in their care. The cats receive plenty of food, healthcare and love.
Chris has ALWAYS showed UP for all these cats in need. I have been working with Chris and his amazing team for many years now (5 years to be exact)! I am a rescue volunteer independently help coordinate placements and transportations for these cats in need from NJ & NY. When rescues are full and shelters cannot take, especially feral cats, Chris is the sole angel that I can confidently and at ease know he will help IF he can. I and we owe Chris so much and totally appreciative of his immense kindness to these cats. ~ Indy
They take such amazing care of the cats and you can really tell that all of the cats really are Happy Cats. I'd want to like there. It's clean, well taken care of and I can tell that Chris really cares for each and every cat. If I lived closer, I would be thee volunteering as much as I could.
I have worked in rescue and this is one of the nicest places that I have ever seen!
Chris provides an incredible home for abandoned cats that would otherwise be out in the world alone. As someone who cares for a feral colony, I wish there were a Happy Cat sanctuary in Connecticut.
Happy Cat Sanctuary is by far the best place for cats. I needed to move down to Florida from NYC and if it weren’t for Chris the move never would have happened. He agreed to take my feral cats that I have been taking care of for years. The sanctuary is clean, with huge fans to keep the cats cool in the summer and heaters to keep the cats warm in the winter. The cats that are inside have air conditioning. They only eat the highest quality food, have amazing buildings to live in and cat trees that were specially made for the cats. I know for a fact that Chris eats frozen dinners to make sure his cats eats well. They are regularly seen by a vet. There is a separate building for cats that tested positive with Feline leukemia. Chris is an amazing kind super human being who is fully committed to keeping his cats at Happy Cay sanctuary well and thriving. If you can, please donate even a dollar. Or give up your coffee for a day and donate it to the cats. It’s a wonderful organization and every penny they get goes DIRECTLY to the care and wellbeing of the cats. Thank you in advance. Jan Sheldon
Happy Cat Sanctuary is an amazing place. Cats are so well cared for and Chris who is the founder is absolutely the most caring selfless human being. Given his whole life to this place & these poor cats that had no where to go. I can’t praise him and his sanctuary enough for what they do on Long Islsnd for these animals. If not for him these poor babies would have no where to go. Instead they have a safe & happy environment to live out their lives.
I have never seen any place so amazing for the cats. It’s like Disneyland and the Four Seasons Hotel for felines. I would live there!!! And Chris has a heart the size of Long Island for what he does for all these animals!!!
Happy Cat Sanctuary has gone above and beyond to help all the cats that are homeless or neglected.. Chris and his entire staff and on call vets are amazing; the cats are well cared for, happy, and just seeing all the photos as they have grown through the years must be so fulfilling to everyone involved . I've watched as they renovated and upgraded and you can tell all the cats are content to be there . God bless everyone who is affiliated with Happy Cat!
Hi I would love to tell you about Chris he is so devoted to all his cats he takes extremely excellent care of all his cats
They are so friendly Noone should have anything bad about him he devotes his life to all of them if you are reading this please help him & donate some money to help him out I had a cat that someone dumped by my home & my wife was taking care of him & she was trying to get our inside cat friendly to him but we went on vacation & I had someone taking care of him & when we got home neighbors were complaining that he pooped on there grass & told my wife & made her upset they told her that they was going to trap him & get ride of him so I contacted people & Chris was able to take him & give him a good home before they caught him & let him go some place so my wife is so hart broken because she got very close to him
Thank God for people like him! He really takes care of these cats! I had to move and asked if he would be able to take care of the feral cat who was an out door cat at my house for 7 yrs. I was struggling w it and knew no one in my area would feed her. He was able to take her, and no one else would even give me the time of day! This is the real deal, and I will support him as much as I can for as long as I can!
So back in February if this year my parents were in contact with Marilyn and Kathleen from Happy Cat Sanctuary in regards to rescuing two feral cats we had due to our home was in the process of being foreclosed on and we were not about to leave these two cats with nobody else to care for them. Upon speaking with them it was agreed that they would assist in rescuing both the Gerald and they would be going to a sanctuary out East. On February 2 2023 both feral cats were caught by Kathleen which at that time it was stated they were both going to the vet to be checked and next day or two transported to the sanctuary. Two days later 2/4/23 I receive a phone call from Kathleen informing both were perfectly healthy but only one was gonna be going to the sanctuary and she had spoken with me about taking the other cat with me due to him being older and used too my presence already. I had informed her I was moving out of state which she stated was fine she would give me everything needed to make the transport smooth. Upon that conversation it was originally agreed I would take the car with me but a few weeks before I was due to actually leave I had reached out informing her that I could no longer bring the cat down with me due to unexpected circumstances which she stated she understood and was understanding she told me she would arrange to have the cat transported to a sanctuary specifically for elderly cats. Now again that was back in February / March. Here we are now May 8 2023 I receive a phone call from Kathleen telling me she is arranging transport for the cat to be brought down to me after she was told I could no longer take him. She claimed my mother agreed to pay $500 to have him transported down to me which that conversation never took place. After stating to her I could no longer take the cat I was accused of animal neglect and told that I’m probably making my father suffer who’s got stage four cancer the same way I did this cat accusing me of neglecting my father from treatment. I was also accused of not taking care of the cat from the start. After going back and forth I reached out to Marilyn who stated the same thing claiming Kathleen spoke with her telling that my mom agreed to pay $500 to have the cat transported down to me and I informed her that was not correct and told her that she was told awhile ago I could no longer take the cat. Marilyn became argumentative and telling me I abused the cat and abandoned it. I was accused of neglecting him and told they were reporting me on animal neglect. Anyone who knows my family can tell we don’t do that we love animals. It’s these people you need to watch out for.
I recently had the good fortune of having Chris from Happy Cat Sanctuary help me with a situation of rescuing a mother and her kittens. He listened so carefully to my concerns and came up with an excellent game plan and he communicated with me every step of the way. Chris's devotion to helping cats is unsurpassed. He totally extended himself and went the extra mile . The outcome was successful and I am full of gratitude to Chris and his staff. Chris is the real deal and I highly recommend him to anyone in a similar situation. You won't be disappointed.

I just recently learned of this sanctuary and felt compelled to write. Anyone that not only rescues, but builds a safe haven for countless animals otherwise condemned to a life of horror should be inundated with help and support from not just donars but cities and counties as well. These people are hardly thanked enough for the amazing and compassionate work they do. Thank you for your dedication to relieve suffering of other beings. If I win the lottery, I will generously fund your cause. Thank you
I found happy Cat Sanctuary on youtube ,then on facebook. Im in Canada and follow this caring man in his journey to help as many cats as he can. I grew up on a farm that was across from a local dump and as a kid I would bring home all the cats that people would dump off there. My parents sold eggs from our house and would ask if anyone wanted to take home one of the cats. Some lived in our barns and hen houses. We fed them daily . So when I saw what this kind man was doing to protect and care for all those cats , I was so happy !!! He takes good care of them and keeps everything so clean. Bless you ! Sharon
Happy Cat Sanctuary is a dream come true for needy cats (there are far too many in this world) and for cat-lovers alike!! I've never seen anything like this amazing and wonderful place created by an Angel-- Chris-- and his many volunteers and supporters.!! Many, many years of sheer devotion and perserverance have enabled the lives of literally thousands of need, abused and homeless cats to get the sanctity and quality of life they so fully deserve. Every penny donated goes to saving precious animal lives!!
This sanctuary is the greatest place on Long Island for the rescue of cats and kittens that are abandoned or just living in dangerous situations. Chris is the most compassionate man I have ever seen ,he saves all these animals and brings them to this beautiful sanctuary he has built for them .they are all loved and cared for by him and his volunteers . There are so many strays around and without this sanctuary helping and caring for so many cats and kittens it would be overwhelming and more cats would suffer a tragic life. God Bless Happy Cat Sanctuary and the wonderful life he provides for them
I follow the Happy Cat Sanctuary from afar in Virginia. Chris is the most dedicated person I have ever come across in trying to help feral and domesticated cats. From rescuing cats from ALL situations (some horrible) to building and rebuilding his facility while dealing with the ridiculous towns people that are constantly harassing him. He just continues to go forward no matter what. My hats off to him and all the people who help him at the Happy Cat Sanctuary.
Chris at Happy Cat Sanctuary, Coram, NY was Ella Marina "Blackie's" savior. I rescued her from FL marina at 8 months old to find out she had a broken tail and other Neurological issues. She most likely was dropped by a hawk as a baby. A wonderful Tampa Vet at Vetria performed back surgery with stem cell replacement. We spent lots of time, energy and money to give her a better life. Chris took her in when no one else would. We drove her to NY and now (1.5 yrs later) she is doing well at Happy Cat Sanctuary with her 300+ new feline friends. I miss this little girl every day but know she is in the best furrever home. I continue to sponsor her thru monthly donations and no matter how busy Chris is...he makes the time to find her and send me pictures...which definitely helps my heart.
Chris...you are a most wonderful caring person and a true animal advocate. Not only do the kitty cats love and depend on you...we do too. This world is a better place because you are in it. If I won the lottery, you'd get a huge chunk for sure.
EVERYONE...Pls donate and see if you can sponsor a kitty cat at HCS like I did. This is so important for HCS's cause and for Chris's sanity! Lol. The word "thanks" can never be enough.
Meow!
This is an amazing and wonderful cat rescue & sanctuary. Please 'like' & 'follow' on Facebook.. And see all the good they do!!!

Seems at times the whole world is against this rescue / the work he does is just wonderful and helps so many precious souls - thank you so much for your selfless energy and the improvements your making at the sanctuary are awesome
I heard about this organization years back. Knowing that this sanctuary was set up in loving memory of his son made me want to follow them. This man goes beyond the call of duty for these cats. If not for him many would have died. When someone gives their whole heart to something that can never return the favor speaks volumes for what kind of person he is. Great sanctuary :)
I also discovered Happy Cat Sanctuary on Facebook and have been following their cat rescues and posts for years, seeing how they keep their cats safe and well cared for. Chris is a dedicated rescuer that goes above and beyond to ensure he helps those in desperate need. He even saved some chickens and a lost dog. Hopefully, more people donate and help Chris continue his mission of helping as many cats as possible.
Chris helped me a few years ago when I was in desperate help. The feral cats I was caring for were being poisoned and I needed to move them ASAP because I was moving. He is a 2 hour ride from me and could take 2 at a time. So little by little I trapped and transported the cats to him. I am forever grateful to him for helping me and saving the cats. Please donate to Happy Cat Sanctuary, it is a wonderful place.
I have known chris the founder of happy cat sanctuary for some years now. I met him when I was looking for a home for a feral kitten, years ago. No one else was willing to help. I found him on the internet and without hesitation, he met me and took the kitten to his sanctuary. Since then I have been there several times. Chris is the real deal, the cats come before himself. The sanctuary is amazing. It has come a long way since I was first there. He has helped me out several times... he is the real deal, every penny donated goes directly to the cats. They are all well cared for and love him so much also. Please donate to his sanctuary, he is the best... love you Chris. And thank you for all you do. Linda agnello, oceanside...
Even from across the country ( Washington state) it is easy to see the love and dedication this man has invested in his sanctuary and these cats. I have followed many rescues in the past 5 years, doing the selfless work to save the abused and abandoned cats that others turn away from. It is an amazing group of people I admire, as we share the common goal of giving them a second chance. Chris has taken this a step further, by creating a true home for so many otherwise un-adoptable cats, regardless of their circumstance, and shown that their lives also matter. Many of these cats would have been euthanized or released to the streets if not for his intervention. The sanctuary he has created, the sleeping areas, fountains, play area's, I am in awe of, so much time and care are invested in making these cats feel secure, and comfortable, at a level I have not seen equaled by most of us who wish we could do the same. This man is truly an angel, and I pray that people who see his need for donations to continue, DONATE, and support him for giving his life to something that makes a difference, instead of creating wealth or material things for himself like 90% of people these days. A place like this needs an enormous amount of support, I can tell you, I house 30 cats at my rescue, and without vet bills it is close to $400 a month for food and litter. I cannot imagine the stress and worry caring for 500 cats brings, combined with the evil political bodies who have recently challenged their very existence. Please, if you have money to donate, or friends that do, tell them about Happy Cat Sanctuary, and ask them to support his beautiful vision of a cat Heaven on earth.
Happy Cat Sanctuary provides love for the cats humans left behind, care of those that need it ,a warm safe home for the unwanted. He inspires others to do the same or what they can do. Those cats, the unwanted, the hurting, scared they love him, rely on him and thrive with him. He needs to expand, make a clone of himself and continue his journey as a rescuer.
I'm in desperate need of help - I've tried to contact your organization several time via email and phone calls - I am the proud caretaker of a colony of amazing felines - I've had almost all of the neutered and spayed - the remaining ones that need that will get taken care of this week - I'm moving THIS Sunday coming up and the plans I had for their care fell through - I need to find a place for them that will love and care for them as much as I do - I will be moving upstate in 18 months and I am willing to pay quite a bit for their monthly care - Please please please please contact me !! I'm a desperate woman !!! my phone number is 917-257-5822
Excellent Happy Cat Sanctuary Inc. Nonprofit started and run by the founder Chris Arsenault and his dedicated volunteers for 300 kitties. Most healthy, some have medical issues that are always taking care of and then there is a small group of feline aids that are separate from the main group and cared for. Some of these kitties were going to be put to sleep. I myself have two outdoor rescues that I saved and are now healthy two indoors that get unconditional love and care daily. Watch the video and kindly open your generous hearts to help Chris to continue and expand. This is a legal registered nonprofit. I found out about Happy Cat when I was rescuing kittens before Hurricane Sandy; I finally trapped the mother and had her neutered by a city agency. It was then I found out that the kitty had cancer.
My vet operated to remove the tumor and found she was also FIV+. I eventually had to release her but didn't want to let her out in the winter after all that. My friend ((Debby) who rescues cats told me about Chris Arsenault and I was so relieved when he agreed to take "Princess Blue" into the Happy Cat Sanctuary. For however long she lives(d), she was safe and I had peace of mind.
Thank you always, to Chris for his compassion, love, and humane treatment of animals.

Review from JustGive
I discovered Happy Cat Sanctuary on Facebook. WhenI read about the history of Happy Cat, and the reason why it came to be, I was very touched. Happy Cat serves as a living memorial to honor the Director's son who was killed in a motorcycle accident. What inspiring way to keep a loved one's memory alive! Chris has saved hundreds of cats in the years that Happy Cat has been in existence. What a wonderful organization they are!
Happy cat sanctuary is by far the best rescue ! Chris the founder is not only am amazing person, but he has a heart of gold. Every penny he gets goes directly to the cats! I met Chris about 4 years ago, when no other rescue was willing to help me with a hard to place kitten and since then he has helped me out with several cats and kittens in similar situations. I have been to the santuary several times over the years and every time I was there, the place was immaculate, evert cat is well cared for and happy! I have reached out to several rescues over the years and no one was willing to help but Chris, he goes above and beyond like no other! And like I said the most important thing is that every penny goes directly to the cats. If there were more rescues like happy cat, maybe we can put an end finally to all the homeless and abused pets
-- Chris if it wasn't for you one starving little kitten with a collar around its neck and leg wouldnt be a fat happy cat named Sandy right now-if I had called one of the so called number one rescues I wouldn't have been given the time of day -but you and Linda came right out the next day and saved Sandy so yes you are the number one rescue.
Happy Cat Sanctuary's volunteers have really dedicated their time and lives to help these cats in need. Even driving through rough neighborhoods to find out the inside scoop on drowning kittens. Now that is true dedication. Trying to save abused and tortured kitties one at a time until they are all saved! I have donated and will continue to donate to Happy Cat. Because of these kind, loving and dedicated people so many cats have a happy safe place to call home until they can be adopted. They are using their own hard earned money and personal time to help these cats, and for that I cannot thank them enough. We need more people like Chris and the Happy Cat Sanctuary team in this world. Its great seeing updates on these kitties! Thank you HCS for all you do!!
Happy Cat Sanctuary and its founder Chris took my beloved cat when no one else would, not even my own family. I was due to emigrate out of the country and could not take my cat with me. I tried for months to find a foster but no one would take her. Finally I wrote Chris, who was a complete stranger at the time, a letter and offered him a boarding fee of $2,000 to take her. She had been an indoor cat with no other cat friends her entire life, so I wanted her to experience a life with feline friends and experience the outdoors. Chris called me and said he would take her. I brought my cat to Happy Cat and was relieved to see it was clean, did not smell, and all the cats there were healthy and well cared for. I left my cat there and even though I was extremely heartbroken to let her go, I knew she would be safe.
Shortly after that, I realized Happy Cat Sanctuary needed help in raising funds. I took on the role of volunteer director of communications and development. I realized that if I did not help Happy Cat succeed, my cat would be homeless. With perseverance and hard work and help from people who care, we were able to secure a major grant, double the donations from the previous year, reduce costs, and forge relationships with state agencies to secure more volunteers. We have doubled the number of TNRs and adoptions over the previous year. Happy Cat is now on secure financial footing with a bright future. I am proud to help Happy Cat and help Chris 20-30 hours a week with the expertise I have gained from years working for nonprofits in the past. Chris is like family to me now, and his cats are like my own children, too. Chris would go to the ends of the earth to find a cat a good home, or save a cat from a dangerous situation. I know this because he doesn't just talk about it. He DOES it.
Happy Cat Sanctuary needs every penny to function. Please open your hearts and your wallets. Many of these cats have suffered greatly at the hands of hoarders, gangs' dog fighting rings, and abusive owners. Chris has saved cats that have been shot at with pellet gun and paint guns, almost poisoned by hateful humans, burned with cigarettes, left outside to die in the cold after Hurricane Sandy..... please donate what you can at http://www.HappyCatSanctuary.org. Every dollar helps.
On behalf of the cats who cannot speak - THANK YOU.
I found Happy cats sanctuary to be amazing. Chris's energy, knowledge and love for every single cat in and out of his sanctuary was evident in my interactions with him and my tour of the sanctuary.
I consider this to be a trustful worthy cause worth contributions and exposure. I will be donating videography to help promote awareness and will be a voice to spread the word to look on the "wish list" of supplies which are actually picked up at the donators door step- I was touched deeply by his heartfelt unending energy in this movement of cat rescue.

First I want to say I am sorry for your experience.. But Marilyn & Kathleen who you mention above have nothing to do with cats being surrendered to Happy Cat, so Im not sure why you posted this about Happy Cat Sanctuary. Your cats did not come to, nor were ever intended to come to Happy Cat Sanctuary. After some intense digging we found out thar your cat/s went to a sanctuary in Maryland.
