Our family truly appreciates the RAISE program and all it has done for our son. All the years of IEPs, behavior plans, therapists and counselors through his school years had left him with low self-esteem and feeling very different from his peers. I have seen such tremendous growth in his self-confidence and independence since beginning the program. It’s obvious this program is a labor of love for the staff and volunteers who put tremendous effort into every aspect. I feel that their knowledge has made this program a well executed combination of social skills and on the job training. As a parent, I appreciate the effort made to include us in the process and provide us with education and the opportunity to connect with other parents. We are proud to be part of the RAISE family.

The math festivals and other community math events this organization puts on are fantastic community builders centered around the joy of recreational mathematics and problem solving. OMC really puts care and effort into training volunteers of all ages, even students in middle school and offers recognition through certificate program and Presidential volunteer medal awards and has appreciation get togethers for volunteers on a regular basis. I met a lot of great people through this organization.

I’ve been a volunteer with Hands Of Esperanza for about 3 years and I’ve attended two trips to the Alta Verapaz region. The trip is very organized and safety is ensured by the on-the-ground coordination team with Avis, a non-profit located in Guatemala who coordinates transportation, accommodations, food, and local dialect translation. The core team at Hands Of Esperanza is an inspiration and I continue to volunteer with this group because they truly believe in the mission - to improve the long term health and wellness of communities in rural Guatemala. <br><br>For my part, I am non-clinical so I am usually a part of groups to build stoves and assemble clean water filtration systems within the homes. The clinical team will facilitate a “pop up” style clinic for the entire community. <br><br>It’s truly an amazing experience being a volunteer. My donation was to SMASH in Seattle which provides sustainable Health Care to Seattle Musicians. Great organization! Our trip was Castles of Ireland which is a destination my wife and I have been talking about for years. Once we set the parameters of what we wanted to do and see AMFUND did all the detailed planning. All the reservations from air travel to Castles to five star hotels and Manor Homes to rental car went off without a hitch. There were absolutely no surprises. Our favorite places to stay we're of course the castles, Lough Eske Castle near Donegal and Dromoland Castle in County Clare. The accommodations were fabulous and the staff was very friendly and attentive. The grounds were beautiful. The meals, especially breakfast, were also outstanding, as was the whiskey tasting! We did a lot of touring of surrounding countryside in our rental car. Highlights were the Cliffs of Mohre, the Kilmainham Gaol Jail in Dublin, beautiful churches and structures everywhere, and of course socializing with the locals at countless Irish pubs. And the Irish people are so friendly and sociable they treat you like a friend right off the bat. Can't say enough about this magnificent trip of a lifetime. Highly recommended!

I had the pleasure of serving as a Youth Support Specialist in one of the Federation's programs, a volunteer at the annual health fair, and a respite care provider in the program that gives parents a break for a few hours. Muriel Jones and her terrific staff serve families with open hearts. Their engaging work with children and support for parents builds up families with resources to keep them healthy and safe. The Federation of Families helps families to stay together and stand firm against the many pressures in this world that could tear it apart. I highly recommend this organization.

I volunteered with this organization for a letter writing party and it was inspiring to be able to help women who are in prison through the purchase of books! I highly recommend supporting this organization! There are so many ways to support them but cash is best!

In November 2008, the Citrus County Library System saw the need to begin an Adult Literacy Services program with 1 of 4 individuals lacking basic literacy skills. With the help of Executive Director Greg Smith and his wonderful staff, the library system was provided with a training mentor, the foundational knowledge, and many resources. Over 13 years later, our successful literacy program is a direct reflection of the amazing support that we continue to receive from the Florida Literacy Coalition and their staff. The entire FLC Staff is dedicated to bettering communities and peoples' lives through empowerment through literacy. Greg Smith, Executive Director, and Nicole Caban, Education and Training Coordinator, are both true professionals. I have had the wonderful opportunity to work with both Greg and Nicole as a trainer/presenter when collaborating on literacy webinars and when facilitating their Train-the-Trainer sessions. The Citrus County Library System's Adult Literacy Services department would have never gotten off the ground without the help and dedication of the Florida Literacy Coalition. It is not just Citrus County, Florida, that FLC has helped. I have seen them help so many counties starting up literacy programs, and often they've allowed me to be a part of it! This Preparatory School has been such a blessing to my son. My husband and I first hired an in home sitter to watch our son after I returned to work and that didn't work out for a multitude of reasons. Being first time parents, we really wanted to find a place that made our son happy, that met specific criteria we had for his growth and that paralleled the type of foundation we wanted to offer him. Lake Forrest Preparatory School has been a great addition to our family. They have taught our son so much in such a short period of time and he continues to blossom daily. He loves going to school, he has an appreciation for more things and is diverse in his interests and when I walk in to drop him off, he's happy. And I'm happy. And when we pick him up, he's smiling and happy. And he's learning. He shows us his crafts he makes and shows us the dances and songs he is learning. It has been night and day what a different they have made. They are the best partners we could ask for and we are very pleased with LFPS.

This organization talks a lot about how they're going to do so much with your child and maybe in your childs freshman year will take them to a place or two but if you are truly a person living in poverty and struggling and wanting the best for your child this program will do absolutely nothing for everything that they do there's a price and usually if you're struggling it's too much to pay if your child volunteers for something and your child has to work and is unable to attend they lower the child's grade without even a conversation as to why your child may or may not be absent...my son who is work so hard to remain an 8 average was lowered to be for that reason and I find it appalling that an organization that is supposed to uplift would select wherever they felt like it and lower the grade for the teachers on personal reasons where is the emotional intelligence in the so-called teachers? <br>I've also experienced a situation where I was having trouble with my child make it felt like he was falling into a bad crowd I probably made aware of the situation to some of these so self-titled menteurs and not any of them paid any attention to the situation or seem to care this organization sounds great on paper they look like they do wonderful but in reality it's a waste of whoever's money is put towards it if they really do not do anything to improve the lives in our children...also this class should not be in our high school because taking one year of it is more than enough if they don't do anything to repeat the same thing the following year if your child takes a choice it's a waste of an elective

I began by volunteering in the office doing various jobs such as stuffing envelopes. Recently, I volunteered for the first time at a festival and really got to see what it was all about. If you are looking for a great organization to be apart of, while seeing what a difference it makes, Save the Manatee Club is for you! Great, people to volunteer with as well!
