I have worked with Aviva for almost 3 years now. I first joined the Programming Committee and now I serve on the Board. I have been so impressed with the organization's leadership and staff. This is an organization that truly cares about the populations it serves. The programs and services Aviva offers are top-notch consistently producing positive outcomes. I've been so moved by the staff's commitment to excellence going above and beyond what is expected of them. Aviva is truly making a positive difference in the lives of the children and families it serves. I look forward to continuing my service to Aviva. It's so amazing to be a part of such a wonderful organization.

THE WORST EXPERIENCE BECAUSE THEY HAVE LIED AND MISLEAD MY FOR MONTHS AND I AM STILL HOMELESS. THE LIES ARE LIKE BEING IN A CULT. THE MENTAL ANGUISH BECAUSE OF THE UNETHICAL PRACTICES ARE COMPLETELY SICKENING BECAUSE THEY KNOW WE ARE VERY DESPERATE AND VULNERABLE AND DISABLED. In the comments, I saw a person saying Elizabeth is a lover. I couldn’t agree more because I have seen it first hand. She sees life and living creatures through her heart, not eyes. I was given this racist postcard by Executive Director Tony Lore when I told him I was a Moor. Tony also promised me the higher end of my salary which I never received. He traveled all the way to Italy to give me this racist postcard and then laughed in my face. Director Derrion Wyatt was jealous of me because I have my Doctorate in Business. Staff J’Mayne was jealous because I was at a higher pay scale than him. Staff members Jorge Richard and Cat smoke weed all day and are high around the office. I was kicked out of my email by Manager Brae when I complained about racial discrimination through an act of retaliation. I was wrongfully terminated while I was on medical disability leave from my doctor

I work on the Women Helping Women Services Counseling Talkline funded entirely by NCJW. It is a free community service where we talke to callers for up to one hour or more if necessary about their problems with work, child rearing, domestic violence, suicidal thoughts, financial problems, homelessness, etc. To my knowledge they are one of the few organizations that spend unlimited time on the phone with a caller and also have virtually free unlimited one on one in person counseling with trained and licensed social workers. They also have extensive counseling groups in schools, shelters and agencies where these services are needed. Women Helping Children services are also very responsive to children's needs and their Advocacy programs are outstanding.

Claris is the most amazing program that I have ever been a part of. They helped me through one of the most difficult times of my life. The staff becomes your family! I don't know where I would be without Claris!

2020 Mom has provided me with countless opportunities as a stay-at-home-mom to learn about maternal mental illness and what I can do within my own community to help other moms and families who are suffering. The things I have learned, the activities I have participated in, and the friendships I have made thanks to 2020 Mom have changed my life for the better. I am so grateful for this incredible organization!!

I am working as a psychotherapist at PTV for 1 year and 2 months. I have over 20 years of experience working in the mental health field and this experience is unique. The commitment, dedication and the incredible family, community work environment make our job so easy and pleasant!

NAMI Westside Los Angeles is one of the leading chapters of NAMI nationally and NAMI is probably the best organization to offer free education, assistance and a community to those with mental illness and their families. If you want to do something to help the problem of mental illness in this country and you want to work with an organization that is already dynamic and has its act together and you live in the Westside of Los Angeles, NAMI should be on your list of organizations to help.

SEWI is a wonderful organization! They have been serving the Los Angeles Counties for the past 10 years and I recently learned that they have taken their services beyond LA to other counties, states and even countries! Mental health needs are on the rise especially among our youth so it is very comforting to know that SEWI is out there providing the services to help our youth get through these tough times.

I just took WECAs online wellbeing course and I have to say that the content was helpful, timely, informative and powerful. I have found in the past that learning about mental health can be taxing, but this was different. I found it meaningful, useful, and clear in purpose.

The Saban Clinic I've relied on for many years, especially its Dental Director, Dr. Dastur, and her team. I had the honor of hosting her in a brief visit to my remote ranch, which she enjoyed via Zoom, in a consultation appointment. Their technology is current, their methods are impeccable, their care compares favorably with that which I'd received previously from many private practice professionals. They make me feel like their clinic exists only to serve me. I'd encourage all cost-conscious Southern Californians to take advantage of Saban's system which provides an example of how excellence might be achieved in the provision of economical health care services on a large scale. I'm grateful to and I pray for the generous benefactors of the Saban Clinic, their names listed on a plaque at the entrance.

Airport Marina Counseling Service epitomizes what it means to serve its community. The staff and clinicians are professional and caring. The number of success stories speak about individuals who have gone on to lead lives of meaning and fulfillment. Since the early 1960s, the Clinic has offered a warm and inviting place for people of all ages to come for help and healing. It is strongly supported by the community it serves and continues to expand its programs as needs become apparent. The clinicians are invited to the local schools, to the Boys and Girls Club of Venice, to the Family YMCA and other community locations to offer counseling and therapy. It has an outstanding reputation in recruiting outstanding clinicians and for its training programs for those completing their professional licensing and doctoral programs. At the recent Open House, every clinician who spoke was inspiring, smart and very knowledgeable. The Clinic is a jewel in the array of services that it provides and welcomes all who seek counseling.

I was specifically working with SSVF VOA as a veteran and they treated me so poorly that I left the program for another. I was four years homeless when I learned about the support and my case manager Maria refuse to approve me to look for housing. I attended all meetings, followed all instructions, yet whenever I asked too many questions I would be threatened with being dropped from the program, once se eve got a supervisor to threaten me as well. I left VOA and was enrolled in JVS- SSVF who approved me for housing as soon as I was enrolled into their organization.

I am a current Member of the Board. Before joining the Board I knew about OPICA as a local service organization. Now I am privileged to experience and witness the family of OPICA as it encircles families and individuals impacted by memory loss with love, care and excellent programs. I am enriched by them!

I was fortunate to intern with APLA in the early '90s and learned SO MUCH. I thought it was a wonderful organization staffed by caring people and dedicated volunteers.

I attempted to participate in an online support group run by 1in6 for male victims of sexual violence.<br><br>The moderator, who is a member of the 1in6 advisory board, started the session by posting a quotation from a self-described radical feminist.<br><br>This feminist, within the past year, was involved in a widely reported on scandal after asking an audience on CBC to consider how many men feminists would need to kill each day before feminism's demands are met.<br><br>I, as you can probably understand, felt disturbed by the inclusion of radical feminist rhetoric within a support group for abused men.<br><br>At the beginning of the group the moderater asked participants to share their feelings.<br><br>When I attempted to do so i was silenced (blocked) by the moderator.<br><br>The following DM's from the moderator were glib, dismissive of my feelings, rude, and condecending.<br><br>I was then banned from the site despite not violating the posted rules.<br><br>(Apparantly being ordered to share your feelings, attempting to do so, and then being silenced by the moderater is 'non-participation' and a bannable offence)<br><br>I feel deeply hurt, alone, and worthless after being treated so poorly by someone held up in the media as a supporter of male victims. (This moderator has been profiled and celebrated by nearly every major media outlet in Canada)<br><br>When I attempted to file a complaint with the well-meaning volunteers I was able to contact they informed me that 1in6 does not have a complaints policy. (A bizarre situation for a public-facing non-profit)<br><br>The staff/volunteers apparently do not have the ability to take or escalate complaints and do not have contact information for their own management. (Again, bizarre)<br><br>I did some research and it turns out that 1in6 is actually an extremity of RAINN. (Another non-profit)<br><br>RAINN has a very good reputation in helping females and an extremely bad repution when it comes to helping males. (RAINN does not screen their volunteers for anti-male bias and many of their volunteers are womens studies students with strong biases against men)<br><br>1in6, it turns out, is the male outreach arm of a feminist oganization masquerading as a service for abused males.<br><br>I would suggest that male victims be very cautious before contacting 1in6 and if you must, prepare yourselves to be treated extremely poorly.<br><br>There are no local services available for me to heal from my abuse experiences so, without further options, I will now return solemnly to the life of poverty and near complete isolation my childhood abuse has doomed me to suffer until the day I die. <br><br>Thank you to anyone who has read this far. I hope you never have to live through what i have lived through.<br>

At The Midnight Mission I had a great experience. I’ve been volunteering there at least twice a year since six grade. It is a very welcoming environment, everyone there is like family.

Teen Line is an absolutely amazing program that I had the honor to volunteer for in high school. Teen line gives teens a place to go when they feel most alone. So many teenagers feel uncomfortable talking to adults about problems they are dealing with, but find much more ease opening up to another teenager whom they feel has a more common experience with them. Teen line provides that safety of talking to someone your own age while also having such incredible training for the teenagers on the line that the callers are not losing anything by talking with a peer. Overall Teen Line is an amazing program that I have personally seen change many people's lives for the better and will continue to do so for a long time.

CPAF has been doing great job in managing crisis situations and assisting survivors of DV/SA as well as formulating changes in the community. It provides multi-linguistic, culturally supportive services for ethnical minority women and men. It is also currently the only shelter for rape survivors in LA.

My Dad died in 1998 and as a mature woman I was very practical...After all death was part of life and my Dad was fortunate to have lived a long and healthy one. Well needless to say, the more I suppressed my grief, the more out of control my grief was. <br> <br>The doctors told me I was suffering from depression and medicated me without ever really knowing why I was depressed. <br> <br>Fast-forward, thank you HealGrief for all the wonderful resources they provide. I learned that my grief was just that, grief. I learned that it was okay and never to late to grieve. The more I identified with the grief, the fewer meds I needed. Now med free, I can think about and talk about my Dad with a smile and warmth in my heart.
