We applied to several different fosters, to try and fill a huge hole left by our late dog. MBR ran our app and Amy called to explain the intricacy of the dog (lillie), that she was terrified of men. That gesture immediately speaks volumes towards the character of the rescue personnel, and to myself as someone who is more interested in having a dog that's happy with us, then "just get any dog". A day later the dog's (lillie) foster called me and explained a bit more in depth from her own eyes. This reassured is into making a trip to meet lillie. We had a meet and greet at the MBR farm inside their playroom, then the foster met me and our OG dog for a walk, then we finally were convinced that we were the right fit for lillie.I wish my first rescue experience was like ours with Amy and MBR. I wish all rescue experiences were like what you'll receive at MBR, you'd end up with happier outcomes. We now volunteer at MBR cleaning and playing with the rescue and boarding dogs. The community that Amy has created is amazing, and the thoroughness of care every volunteer has is inspiring.

I recently moved to Grafton, and volunteer at Multiple Breed Rescue. It is incredible the work this group do to save dogs, and give them the best opportunity at a new life, no matter what it takes. Vet bills, medications, surgeries, even amputation are all covered by donations. The dogs are in foster care, where these amazing families nurture the dogs spirit back, and the right family comes along. Amy Hunt, works with the dogs that need their manners in check, along with all the fosters.
Seeing them in action, the amount of time and effort this group give to these poor, down and out dogs, pregnant mama dogs, unwanted puppies, picking them up immediately from shelters all over the State, to save their lives.

I adopted my precious senior through Mbr and know they do their best to
match the best adopter for all their rescues. I am so thankful they trusted me
to care for her. I try my best to support Mbr in any way I can because I see
time and again how they do their best to help the most desperate and needly and
that sadly Mbr may be their last chance. I am thankful every day that they saved
our sweet baby. Mbr is always the best of the best.

I adopted from MBR in 2017. It was such a great experience that I have been volunteering and supporting them any way I can. I appreciate that they check references and do their best to make a great match. They take in dogs that are sick and injured and pay for treatment and rehabilitate them. Their foster homes are great and allow dogs to decompress and heal and provide some training. I would highly recommend them if you were looking to adopt or if you are interested in fostering so they can save more dogs. The founder, Amy, is amazing and would save all the dogs if she could!

I have been waiting to do a review because words are not enough to say how wonderful MBR is. We have had several rescues in our lives and four now, but never one like Finnegan thru MBR. We live in MI and they are in Ohio. But saw a puppy that we had to have. They put us through a process, called our vet and references. Made our other rescue come to meet him. This made me really happy because it showed how much they care about these pups and dogs as well as their owners. MBR has become part of our life. Not a social media user but am with them. Check everyday for new rescues to share, look for what the need for supplies. I work with non profits and can say I have never seen one like this. The Board is tireless and do so much to save animals that never would have a chance. They have a volunteer base that goes up and above. They are all about rescuing dogs with no chance and are not about administrative costs, etc. like so many non profits and charities these days. They truly change lives and so grateful for them!!!

We adopted our sweet senior girl, Abby, from MBR back in 2020. We thank MBR everyday for this sweet girl. This past March, we had the opportunity to foster another shih tzu! We were so excited to see the process and saw first hand that MBR does an excellent job at finding furever homes. Since fostering, I have decided to take on behind the scenes roles to help dogs find their furever match. MBR is a fantastic rescue who wants what's best for the dogs.

I've volunteered with MBR since 2021 in several different capacities including application processor and foster home. I love and support them completely. They are by far the most responsible dog rescue I've worked with, always placing the dog's best interest at the forefront. The owner and board members are all deeply devoted and do whatever they can to save as many dogs as is realistically possible. I truly cannot say enough about how impressed I am with MBR.

Twelve years ago I lost my boxer at 6 years old to cancer. I was heartbroken and it didn’t take me long to look for a new pet.
I contacted Amy Hunt at Multiple Breed rescue to find the perfect fit. Amy was compassionate and said she would let me know when a boxer became available. It didn’t take long for a litter of boxer/lab puppies to appear at the farm.
Amy contacted me and I was able to pick a pup from the litter that was the absolute best!! We named him Brady and he was our everything for the last 11 years. Brady crossed the rainbow bridge this past March. Always grateful to Multiple Breed Rescue for all the caring, advice and guidance through the years, not to mention boarding Brady when needed! What started as occasional visits to walk or bathe dogs turned into fostering, joining the board, and then eventually foster failing on the best good boy in the whole wide world, everyone's favorite hambone, Billy. The volunteers of this rescue are top notch, our foster homes are complete rock stars, and the care provided to the dogs is amazing. Mbr has always been available for any questions or to help in any way.
As they say the dogs always come first and I could not agree more.
I know they try to find the best fit for both the adopter and the dog.
I am honored that Mbr trusted me with adopting from them.

I have had the pleasure to visit, take animals in need to the farm, and learn so much from this outstanding rescue. Throughout COVID, through the toughest times in rescue - the administration of this rescue take in animals they know can be adopted and trained. Animals that struggle are evaluated and a plan is put in place. On the rare occasions that an animal is deemed unsafe - they are not accepted for adoption. The reality of rescue is both full filling and heart wrenching. This is a premier rescue. Pictures of one of my own rescue pups and a foster.

We adopted a pet from this org. The volunteer misrepresented him. After taking him to our vet we found out that he had health issues that were not addressed. Over $5000 later, we are in the process of helping him get better. I contacted the owner. She was combative and denied that anything was wrong. Insuulted me and our vet. Offered to take him back. There was no way we would send him back there. This is not a good place. Be cautious. Especially if you have children.

We first noticed MBR through Facebook and all the wonderful things everyone had to say about it and the tireless work all the volunteers do to help with the rescues whether it be from pulling pups from the county kennels to the pups from the mills.
We hope to at some point in the near future adopt a dog whether it be through MRB or somewhere else but first need to see if that will ever be possible with a pup we rescued several years ago who has shown to be dog aggressive.
We are currently working with Amy and one on one training with Chance to see if it will be feasible. Right off we have been very pleased with the improvements in him and how less reactive he is with our neighbors dog. The training is ongoing and with the tools Amy has given us to work with at home with Chance well, it is giving us a Chance....

We adopted Abby about 7 years ago from MBR. I found this rescue to have very high standards of responsibility and ethics. We had asked for information about another dog, but the rescue appropriately guided us away from that dog due to his illness and recommended another dog which turned out to be Abby. She was the perfect match for our family! MBR seems to be committed to creating the best match between a dog and a family rather than just adopting a dog out to random families and I have a lot of respect for that. In addition, when a dog comes to this rescue with behavioral challenges, MBR works with the dog to help it become adoptable. I feel confident that if I adopt a dog from MBR, I will have adequate knowledge about it and that the dog is the right fit for our family.

I had a very poor interaction with MBR Farm and Rescue in Grafton. I emailed the rescue looking for a foster home for a dog. This dog was receiving medical care and in a shelter. It was in bad shape and like all abused animals, had a heartbreaking story. The individual who received my email, called me and she was argumentative and very difficult which is completely unnecessary and very upsetting. Rescuing animals is difficult enough without being screamed at by someone who is supposed to love animals. Her behavior and email that followed is completely unacceptable. Our priority in rescue should always be to put the animal first not your need to be verbose and argumentative.

Hi Amy Reyes. When I called you to gain information on the dog you didn't have any. I called the shelter and they told me the dog was in the care of a vet and two rescues were working on taking the dog into their care. I called you back to share the great news. You asked me if the dog was going to a foster home, I told you I didn't know. You began screaming at me telling me you wanted it to go to a foster home. I tried to explain I was only giving the information which the shelter gave me. As you were screaming at me I hung up and you continued to call me 3 more times and each time I said hello you began screaming again. You then left a negative review on my business page, which has nothing to do with the rescue but my livelihood. You then sent me a very nasty email and continued to harass me. I had to get a lawyer to send you a Cease and Desist letter.

My first experience with MBR was in 2017 when we adopted our Cooper. He was the last of several puppies they rescued from an abusive environment and he is loved dearly by our family. In 2019 with my sons graduated I wanted to get more involved and decided to volunteer at the rescue caring for new intakes until they were placed with foster families and keeping the kennel clean. I then added being a Foster myself and I have fostered 5 dogs to date with all being adopted into loving homes. All the volunteers at MBR work together to pick up rescues transport to and from vet appointments and keep the the rescue running through work, fundraising and Love. It is quite amazing how much truly is accomplished by this small group of people, but it is all done with the mission to save and re-home dogs of all shapes and sizes that were abused in puppy mills, surrendered by families, picked up and put in kill shelters or lost their Mom/Dad do to age of death. I am proud to be apart of such a devoted organization and look forward to many more happy adoptions.

We were looking to adopt a dog for a long time. we got pre-approved however didn't see any dogs we would be interested in. Matt with other rescues who are not as nice and organized the detail that Amy and her team shows are amazing. They took in for lovely lab mixes and I was interested in any one of them. Within just a couple of short weeks they had met with me and we ended up adopting a beautiful lab mix from them. Not only did they show us a caring attitude but a concerned attitude. They even gave us training tips grooming tips and tips on understanding a puppy mill baby. I would highly recommend Amy and her team to anyone. Her foster parents deserve medals cuz I'm sure these kinds of situations are not easy.

Above and beyond your "normal" rescue, Multiple Breed Rescue saves dogs that may be euthanized, saves dogs from mill life, and rehabilitates them so that they can enjoy a life with a loving family. I adopted my dog from MBR two years ago. He was minutes from being euthanized when MBR got the call - the founder of MBR, Amy, dropped what she was doing and took off to save him. He is a very active, happy beagle/cattle dog mix who just wants to play. Because of MBR, he is enjoying a life complete with running, hiking, boating, camping. MBR takes the time to fully match the dogs to the families. Amy works tirelessly to give these animals safety, happiness and health. It takes a lot of time to run a rescue, and it takes a lot of money to save these animals, get them healthy and ready to move on to a wonderful life. Amy NEVER turns away a dog regardless of the problem or the possible costs. What she does for these animals is nothing short of amazing!

Multiple Breed Rescue came to my rescue when my mom passed away from pancreatic cancer and I could no longer have 2 dogs in our condo complex. It was probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but MBR does such an amazing job of keeping it smooth during transition. I miss them terribly, but know they have been placed in loving and nurturing homes, more-so than I could provide at thins time.

We were finally ready to get another dog, after losing our previous pet to cancer seven years earlier. We have 4 children and needed a dog that is easy going, friendly with kids, and low maintenance. Multiple Breed Rescue knew Bandit was the perfect dog for us. We adopted him in March of 2014, and he has been the perfect dog for us. He is so sweet and loves life! We will continue to use MBR in the future for connecting our family with the perfect dog.

I had fostered for MBR in 2008. I wasn’t looking for another dog at the time, but soon had my first “foster fail”. I still have Maggie today and I couldn’t love her any more.
Every one at MBR is 100% dedicated to the welfare of all the animals they take in. I wished every one I met had the empathy and compassion for animals that they do.

About 11 years ago I realised I needed a little something extra in my life and decided that fostering a dog was helping and doing something good for a dog in need. I had fostered for another rescue before finding MBR. I reached out to MBR because I already had two dogs and lived in a small house so I was looking for a small breed dog to foster. My first foster with MBR was a pure bred JRT male. He was beautiful. He loved to play with balls. I decided to call him Eddie while he was staying with me. I had grown very fond of Eddie and was considering adopting him myself when I got the call that he had been adopted by a young woman with other JRT’s. Eddie instantly fell in love with her and I knew I was doing the right thing for him by giving him to a good home.
Then it was time for another foster. She was also a JRT. She was not potty trained, very shy, had many many fears, and just seemed very withdrawn. I spent many hours, days and weeks working with her trying to build up confidence. Teaching her to go potty outside. And not fear absolutely everything. Slowly, I was growing attached to her as it had been nearly a month that I had been caring for her. I was told that she had someone interested in her, but then they changed their mind. I knew I could never let her go, and right then decided to add her to my now growing dog family of three. I’ve never regretted my decision, in fact I couldn’t be happier. Maggie is still a part of our family. She is a very happy 12 yr. old little girl with more spunk and spitfire than ever. And today, I don’t think there is anything she fears, except maybe a bad thunderstorm.
Fostering for me was very rewarding. I enjoyed every minute of it. I enjoyed all the dogs I got to meet and care for. And I especially enjoyed the one I got to keep.

I have adopted two shorty jacks from Multiple Breed Rescue, two years apart. What I love about this rescue is how much time and effort they take to ensure a perfect match. For our first Jack, I asked for a 4H dog for my young daughter to train and one that was happy to sit in your lap. She recommended Emma who was exactly what we asked for. Two years went by and I wanted to get into dog agility and came back again asking for a shorty Jack that she felt would be a good agility candidate, and she recommended Beanie. Beanie is a very accomplished agility dog, earning MACH2 and is still the 3rd fastest Russell Terrier in AKC agility in the entire country. My dogs are now 12 and 14 years old and I am thankful every day for this rescue. I have followed them all these years and so impressed with this organization.

We have adopted two dogs from MBR over the years and we have adopted another dog from a different rescue. I can say that the quality of care, compassion and just overall experience I had with MBR was exceptional compared to the other rescue. My MBR dogs are now 8 and 10 years old, yet Amy Hunt who heads up the rescue still follows up and cares about all the dogs she has rescued and re-homed over the years. MBR knows their dogs, gets to know their applicants so they can find a good match that is best for the applicant and best for the dog. This organization truly cares for their dogs, cares about what happens to every dog and saves as many as they possibly can. Their compassion is genuine and all who volunteer there spend countless hours of their own personal time with the hopes of saving just one more dog. MBR will always be my first choice when I am ready to rescue another dog.

I came acrossed the cutest 12 week old pit mix that I iust had to meet. After meeting him I knew he was the puppy for me. MBR did their check on me and how I cared for me other pups. Within a week or so, Diesel AKA Ozzie came home to me. MBR and his foster mom checked on us for some time after to make sure everything was ok for Diesel and me. We adopted our dog from MBR in 2012 and she is the light of our lives! MBR rescued Delilah from the pound in, I think, Stark County. She was on the “kill list” because she would not interact with people coming through looking for a dog to adopt, she would only huddle in the back corner of the cage because she was terrified. MBR pulled her from the pound and had her spayed, then put in in foster home where she was housebroken and socialized (her foster family day did an amazing job!) What I love the most about t MBR is that their job doesn’t end when a dog is adopted, they are always there to support and help the adopters in any way can. This is an amazing group of people!

I got my Puppy from MBR almost exactly a year ago to the day. I appreciated their application process and dedication to matching a family and dog, and not allowing an adoption that isn’t a good fit. I was so impressed, I began to volunteer with them as well. This group is AMAZING. They are truly in it to save lives. We take dogs no one else will, due to the medical bills
Or training that may be required. They stick to their word, even taking 4 parvo puppies, who they agreed to take in (pre-parvo diagnosis). Those medical bills were astronomical, but MBR Didn’t even flinch. Even better, is that in their contract, they insist any dog
Who may be rehomed MUST come back to the rescue. No independent rehoming. They track the dogs until they pass away. MBR has an active Facebook page where members can post pics, questions, or other related dog info and receive genuine, thoughtful advice and answers. They have connections in any animal related area (vets, trainers, wardens, shelters, sanctuaries, etc etc etc). This group is hands down 5/5 perfect. I’d recommend them to ANYONE looking to adopt a dog (or pig, as they currently have a pig up for adoption too!).

I adopted Millie, a Basset mix "hospice" dog who has had an adventurous & happy life for the past 4 1/2 yrs & is going strong! And Shaggy, a senior Yorkie mix, who opened my eyes to what it means to persevere under adversity, having recovered from paralysis. We have received an abundance of support from this Group & I have gained many friends! What I love is that when you Adopt from MBR, you are supported & encouraged & are free to ask questions related to the care of your pet. It is a family of dog (and all animal) lovers & rescuers. I thank God for bringing MBR into my life!

Multiple Breed Rescue is AMAZING! When we decided to start looking for another dog to add to our family, we spoke with several rescue groups. By far, MBR Ohio was the best one we found. They are organized, well-run by awesome volunteers, and focused on the mission of saving animals. The two things that I think are the most important attributes of this rescue group are their dedication of matching animals and humans for the right forever fit and the unending support they offer adopters. I was impressed that that they not only follow-up with adopters, but they truly go above and beyond. I'm confident that if I needed to, I could contact them in two years with an issue, and they would do what they could to help out. I've spoken with other adopters, and they have had similar experiences. We're so happy that they saved our precious Melrose, and we're so grateful to have her in our family. MBR Ohio rocks, and I can't say enough good things about them.

Multiple breed rescue is a great organization. They help rescue dogs, foster them and then find them a forever home. They just don't get dogs from shelters. My story I had a Belgian Malinois name Maya that was living the life of a lazy dog and not the life of a working dog like she was meant to do. They took her for me and promised they would find her the right home and would not let her go to a home that wasn't qualified to take her. It took a few weeks but the right person came along and she is now in North Carolina with a police department training to be a Narcotics dog and living the life she was meant to live. Thank you MBR!

I was unsure at first, but as I researched the group, Amy (Founder) and read more and more about each, I realized that this was where I would find my next fur baby. we adopted Tito(aka Andy) on Oct 27, 2014. We had recently lost our beloved JRT and were still heartbroken. We at first said NO MORE DOGS. Well that lasted about a month. I stumbled upon MBR. I discovered a group so dedicated to the placement of the rescue to the family. The paperwork we completed was extensive, my prior vet records were all checked, my personal reference was contacted. The original pup I applied for was determined not right for us. He needed little children- Well guess what we were paired up with the most loving sweetest needy little JRT. He was an instant family member. We were advised of some challenges that we may experience and how to deal with those little quirks. After all he is a RESCUE. Unfortunately, Josie has gone on to the Rainbow Bridge, but since then we have adopted 2 other rescues from MBR and they are both wonderful dogs. Multiple Breed Rescue has made such an impact on us that we volunteer our time as a family to help out with the dogs as needed and are hoping to foster one day soon as well. They really are with you for the life of your dog and they treat you like family. The owner, Amy, is always ready to help and has offered us great advice about our dogs. MBR is by far the most caring non profit rescue I have had the pleasure of knowing. They will pull an animal in need without hesitation and then find one of their very loving volunteers to nurse them back to health and find them the very best furever home.

Amy Hunt and the people of MBR are the tops in my book. My children and I went to one of their events just to "look" at a dog and ended up adopting another one from their rescue. We were there for quite a while asking question upon question. They were very patient and answered all of our questions. To all of them, these animals are family not just a pet. Their adoption application process is very in depth, they will call your vet, your referrals, they leave no stone unturned when placing these precious animals.

Another thing that really impresses me is that they don't abandon you or the dog after adoption. This rescue requires that you add their name on the micro-chip. They check up on you regularly and should something happen that you can no longer keep your pet, they will take him/her back. I was so impressed that I applied to be a volunteer with this organization.

I have been a volunteer with MBR since 2007. Although ,my physical limitations make it difficult to help in the ways that I WISH that I could; I still do what I can. I adopted my JRT ,Greta, from MBR....and even though it was a bit of a "rough start" Amy Hunt was there for Greta and me. If we need anything; MBR is right there for me.
I would LOVE to get another dog; and when I do, It will be from MBR . An AWESOME group of people that give of their time and selves to help animals . Very proud to be a member !!!

We have2 rescues that we adopted from them and I loved the experience so much, I started volunteering for them. We are currently a foster home and have 2 fosters in our care. What impressed me most is their stance on no one left behind. If there is a litter of puppies, we take the whole litter, including the mom dog if there is one! Amybhas pulled many dogs with medical needs without worrying about the cost of their care. I would highly recommend them, whether it is a new family member you are looking for, or just need advice!

I was newly divorced and looking for something to fill my time. I was introduced to Amy and decided that helping the dogs could help me too. I've been a volunteer for over 3 years now. It has been the most rewarding, frustrating, heartbreaking and wonderful experiences I can say I have had. This group of volunteers, lead by Amy, are some of the most compassionate people I have ever met. I have seen MBR take dogs in serious condition and nurture them back to happy healthy babies!!! MBR is not afraid to take dogs that most people would pass up. MBR will take a litter of puppies AND the mom. MBR will take a senior dog, a bald and sick dog, a dog with broken bones and broken spirit and love them all back to what they should be. I truly love this organization and the people that represent it.

After researching the rescues local to me, I chose MBR. I chose to be a volunteer for MBR because of the experience the founder had plus everyone has high praises for the group. Foster homes are provided with every necessity they could need for the dog in their care. Adopter's are told everything about a dog, even any bad habits. MBR completely vets each dog including spay/neuter and microchipping. Adoption fee is never over $250. The members of the group are like a huge family. We are there for anyone needing advice no matter how big or small the situation. You will not regret fostering or adopting from this group.

After losing our Border Collie we said no more dogs, it's just so hard when they go. I agreed, until I didn't, then I was on a mission to find a new family member we could train to be a Therapy Dog. I checked the Multiple Breed Rescue site daily and then Jack appeared. A one eyed hound was rescued by Multiple Breed, and he quickly rescued us. Jack has been with us almost a year now, and he's a registered Therapy Dog visiting Assisted Living, Nursing Homes, Schools, Pediatric wards, and Hospitals. He is always excited to go to work and in dog years, he probably puts in a 40 hours week. So grateful for everyone involved with Multiple Breed Rescue, wonderful people with a much needed mission.

Amy Hunt and her staff of volunteers far exceed any rescue I've ever seen. The are the most compassionate group of people, well they are simply amazing. I follow their facebook page regularly and they are so focused on the welfare of almost any four footed animal. They seem very selective on who gets to adopt their rescues. I admire EVERY single volunteer, foster homes and the staff of Multiple Breed Rescue for their constant dedication to the well-being of animals. They aren't afraid to take on the challenge of injured, sick or ferral animals to give the the best chance of having a forever home and living a long and happy life. Thank God there are people like this.

MBR is all about the dogs! There are no prejudices when it comes to pulling dogs out of pounds. If the dog has a broken leg and needs surgery, MBR takes the dog. If the dog is heart worm positive, MBR takes the dog from the pound and provides treatment. If it's a soon to be mommy dog ready to pop out nine puppies, they save the dog from euthanization. God bless Amy Hunt and all of her hard work day in and day out to make MBR what it is today!!

I first heard about MBR in 2010 when we searched Petfinder.com to find our perfect pet. By chance, and by luck...it directed us to MBR. Once we arrived at the site I was AMAZED on how clean, how well cared for, and how much LOVE these rescues were given . Never, in a million years, would I ever visualize myself volunteering at a dog rescue. But once I saw the rescue, saw the "cared for" rescues...I KNEW that I wanted to be part of this awesome organization! I come weekly to clean, care for, and just give these rescues some old fashion love. I benefit MORE from my weekly visits then the dogs do. It is so rewarding (and emotional) for me, to watch these sometimes scared, sometimes neglected dogs transform as they are cared for at MBR and later welcomed into loving families. The work that MBR does is absolutely amazing, and I am so proud to be a very small part of it.

Multiple Breed Rescue is an enormous group of animal advocates. They are focused on saving animals by evaluating, vetting and placing the dogs in an appropriate and prepared home for their needs. Their volunteer network (myself included) is one of the largest I have seen and they rarely have needs the group can't meet. This includes transport, fosters and endless representatives at their public adoption events. They are consistently networking and taking dogs into public places so potential new owners have no surprises. I have not been working with MBR for much longer than a year, but I have already seen it grow and am so happy with the good work that we all do!!

MBR takes the time to ensure that every dog gets a chance. Extra time is taken for those dogs who need special training and a little more TLC. Any and her vunteers will make countless long trips to save as many pups as they can.

I showed up to help out at an adoption event with no real idea of what I could do to help. That was in October of 2012. I "handled" my first adoptable dog that day. And approximately three months later, I met the family that adopted that dog at the monthly adoption events MBR does at a retail store EVERY second Saturday of the month. The group of Volunteers just want to help. Everyone is kind and works very diligently for the cause of the dogs. That is why and what for. This rescue is not just about saving a dog here and there. MBR continues to educate and inform and keeps up on new laws for justice for dogs. This rescue works from the heart everyday for every dog from any displaced situation. I am a very proud volunteer of MBR!

I am a foster home, event volunteer, and the Volunteer Coordinator for Multiple Breed Rescue. I have been with them for a couple years and in that couple years I have been wittiness to and a part of the wonderful things Multiple Breed Rescue has accomplished. MBR is a large family constructed of amazing animal lover who only want what is best for the dogs that make their way to us and even the ones who don't. MBR fully vets every dog before adopting them out to their forever homes. MBR will also assist with the spaying and neutering of non MBR dogs to help prevent the pet overpopulation problem. MBR has saved thousands of dogs and because of MBR those dogs got to know love, compassion, and friendship. MBR is an amazing group and I am so thankful that I found them and get to help save the lives of dogs in need from all over Ohio. MBR welcomed me with open arms to their organization and I would recommend them to anyone!

I have been helping with Multiple Breed Rescue since September of 2013. I have been welcomes with open arms into their organization and have made friends who I hope will stay with me for the rest of my life. I truly feel passionate about this rescue in particular because of the way they operate. They will not overwhelm themselves and know their limits. They post regular updates on dogs who are ready for adoption, those who are working up to being adopted as well as those already in their forever home. They also have a policy of taking any previous MBR dog back for any reason and finding them a new forever home. The other volunteers for MBR all share a passion for animal rescue and do everything they can to help. I transitioned into Multiple Breed Rescue from another rescue as a foster home when it was formed in 2006. I love volunteering for this rescue since, while the dogs are the top priority, the leaders also understand that volunteers have lives too. As a foster home with cats and multiple dogs of my own, I have never felt pressure to take in a dog that would not be a good fit for my household. And on the rare occasion when one does not work out, the rescue is always willing to quickly take the dog back and place it in another foster home. I also love the philosophy of the rescue leaders. Many rescues are focused simply on placing dogs in ANY home. Others are so particular about adoptive homes that they never seem to approve any adopters. MBR's leaders place a strong emphasis on finding the RIGHT home for each dog and ensuring that each dog will have the physical and mental health that it needs to live a happy live. While this some times disappoints people who had their heart set on a certain dog, it ensures that each match is one for life. I also love the fact that the rescue tries to help adoptive families keep dogs who might be having issues, even going so far as to arrange free training classes for adopted dogs. But at the same time, it the adoption is not working out, they WILL take the dog back without making the adopters feel like they have let down the dog.

Three years ago, I was "Adopted" by Multiple Breed Rescue. Ever since, I have been volunteering at events, with dogs, with Marketing/PR and for the second year now, I am a board member. The founding principles of MBR have inspired me and are what drives me to continue to grow our presence. MBR is not just a rescue for dogs; it's a service to the community. MBR offers assistance to families who have fallen on hard times, helping with food and even raising money for their volunteers. MBR also helps control the pet overpopulation by offering to spay and neuter the puppies and the parents of accidental litters, at no cost to the owners.

I started volunteering for MBR in March 2013. I was called by a friend of mine who was already volunteering for the group and asked me if I would pick up a dog from a pound that was south of me since it would be a shorter trip for them to come to Akron to pick up the dog. I went and picked up the dog and brought him back for her to pick up. After seeing the conditions of the pound, I was hooked and immediately wanted to become a foster home for the rescue dogs. My first puppy came from the very same pound a few weeks later. He was quickly adopted into a wonderful home and since then I have had 6 more dogs in my care.
MBR is based in Cleveland and I live in Akron, so its about an hour drive for me to be a part of events and go to the rescue's vet and things of that nature. My family asks all the time why I don't volunteer with a group closer to where I am. I truly believe that this group does some of the best work I could be involved with in the rescue community. The people on the board and my fellow foster homes/volunteers are the BEST people I have ever met. Every single person who volunteers with this group has a heart that it is in for the good of the dogs and that is reflected time and time again.
We stretch ourselves as much as possible to help as many dogs as we can in Ohio. In the last month alone we have taken in 3 pregnant dogs, all of which had litters of 6-7 puppies. That was in addition to continuing to pull other dogs who needed our help. I wouldn't dream of volunteering with another group and leaving this one, my experiences have been nothing but good.

Multiple Breed Rescue was founded in 2006 to help save the lives of dogs in high kill shelters. We also report cruelty cases to local animal control. In 2011, MBR took in 3 dogs rescued from a dog fighting ring. These dogs were all placed in loving homes and are living happy lives with their new families. MBR does not rescue just one breed of dog, we will take mixed breed, large, small, black, white. All the dogs are given proper veterinary care, micro chipped, kept on flea and heartworm medication and placed in foster homes until a forever home can be found.

Multiple Breed Rescue is a 100% volunteer organization. No one is paid to do their job, we do it for the dogs.
