On April 12, 2010, my first child Haley Joyce was stillborn. There was no known reason for her death and this event has devastated my family and we are forever changed. It was a very sad and dark time of our lives and will always define who we are now. With the amazing help of Unite, we were given information regarding a support group to attend. It became our world and we would literally count the days until the next support group so that we could speak to other parents that lost a child and discuss our emotions in a safe place with warm hearts. The group facilitator was amazing and always reached out to us especially around the holidays and Haley's anniversary. Without the support group I do not know where we would be. It helped us through our grief journey tremendously and we are forever grateful. We also attend the annual "Walk to Remember" as a way to honor and acknowledge Haley along with all of the other babies that are not here with us now. I continuously donate to this Nonprofit so that it can continue supporting parents and families that experience such tragedy. Unite has changed our lives for the better and we will continue to support such a worthy nonprofit.

Causes: Counseling, Mental Health
Mission: To help as many people as possible by providing free grief suppport meetings for those who have lost a baby either through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth or early infant death.
Programs: UNITE offers a number of services to grieving parents and their caregivers including the following: Grief Support Group--provides the opportunity for emotional support, through parent-to-parent sharing on issues related to grieving. Group is guided by trained facilitator, but meetings are not group therapy sessons. Referral assistance if additional professional support is needed. Literature--UNITE Notes, quarterly newsletter, and individual group lending libraries. Educational Programs--In-services for hospital staff and other professionals. Programs for bereaved parents and the community. Training Workshops--for grief support counselors, caregivers, and group facilitators. Group Development Assistance--Only the UNITE, Inc. Board Directors helps in the formation of new groups locally. Only UNITE, Inc. member groups may use the UNITE name. Referral Assistance--for individual counseling and other grief support resources.
