We got Natty (previously known as Casper) as a guardian for our goats in 2018. Well, he is a full time house dog now and my husband's best buddy. Charlie helped us understand Natty who had been returned. Was too much dog for previous owner but ended up being perfect for our situation. Charlie also helped us understand the breed better, and he's been helpful to us many many many times over the past 4 years.
We foster-failed a Great Pyrenees named Abbie and her Lab-mix sister Georgia. When Georgia went to Heaven, Abbie was sad and lonely. We wanted to get another dog and as I thought about what would be good for all of us, I peeked at the Western Great Pyrenees Rescue website…I reached out and asked if they might help match my Abbie Girl with a buddy. After completing an intake form about our family and our needs, we were told that they might have the perfect match. His name - Apollo. Wow! It was fate! We love the series Battlestar Galactica and the lead - Apollo! We brought Abbie to meet Apollo and it was awesome. Abbie was at home at the rescue with ‘her people’. I wanted to take them all home or stay with Charlie and his beautiful babies. I love this majestic animal. So loving, so sweet, so loyal.
Thank you WGPR for allowing Apollo to come home with us. We love him more than words can say.
I adopted a puppy from the rescue. She is a mixed Pyrenees, and the best dog we have ever had. Her name is Jill. They vetted her before we took her, provided all the information on what she needed in the future, training tips, as well as what type of food to use, they followed up with us on how she is doing. Wonderfully run organizatio.
A few years ago I had to surrender my dog the the rescue. They worked with me to find the perfect home for him. I had been kept up-to-date on how he was doing, and the family I had been even given the name of the people who adopted them into their family which enabled me to continue the communication. I would highly recommend this organization.
Thanks to Charlie’s love of and commitment to these giant dogs, my family was lucky enough to adopt our Great Pyrenees, Lou. Charlie brought this dog into his rescue after he was found as a stray in Tennessee, underweight and sick. Charlie goes above and beyond to save as many dogs as he can, and takes incredible care in their rehabilitation, training and finding them the right forever homes. We are so grateful for this wonderful rescue.
As founder/director of 501C3 pet rsq "Save Our Strays VT" for over Twenty yrs for which I received the American Red Cross "HERO TO ANIMALS" Award I feel qualified to comment on this nonprofit.Charlie is to be truly commended for his Volunteer efforts & dedication .
When I was trying to help someone find a home for a Great Pyrenees, Charlie reached out and really helped navigate the process and reached out to other rescues to find this pet a new home.
The Great Pyrenees Rescue of Western North Carolina is a wonderful rescue group. They often connect people with Great Pyrenees in need, without even taking the animals into rescue. Their first priority is to helping the animals. They work tirelessly to help as many as they can.
The Great Pyrenees Rescue of Western NC saves Pyrs from NC and SC, even TN and Florida. Whether it's an abuse case, owner neglect, owner surrender or to save a dog at the shelter they do everything they can to see that the dogs rescued are cared for, medical needs addressed, behavioral issues addressed, training, and anything else they can do to get the dogs into forever homes.
