Carlsbad Nonprofits and Charities

More money spent on raising money and administration than goes to programs. Their a terrible charity and the website Great NON Profits is a scam!

This organization is fraud. The executive director and founder takes money from donor for her own profit. She is a very condescending person and using this organization to help just herself.

The organization is well run, transparent, and responsive. The materials are up to date. They cite recent research and trends. Users and donors regularly comment that this is one of the more “forward-thinking” parenting nonprofits.

I had always heard great things about the Boys and Girls Club and was excited to have my children attend the Bressi Ranch location’a summer camp. My family will not be returning. Overall I found this camp to be incredibly disorganized, completely unstructured and the staff, including leadership, to either be completely overwhelmed or incompetent. <br><br>Details: <br>From the beginning communication was a huge challenge. Staff were unresponsive during registration, it would be difficult to get in touch with anyone. Despite this initial frustration, I gave the organization the benefit of the doubt and enrolled my kids. <br><br><br>My children were absolutely miserable at the camp. If your child isn’t super loud and pushy then it can be an intimidating place to be. It seemed as though the focus is on quantity over quality and there were so many children, my kids often had difficulty being able to participate in activities they wanted. I am not sure what the camper to counselor ratio is but I think there is room a lot of room for improvement. It is important to note that the camp offers kids time to watch tv and play video games. While staff assured me that the screen time was “limited” given that they told me “they have so many kids and cannot keep track of what kids are doing” I am highly doubtful that screen time limitations is true. <br><br>I did email 3 staff members during the middle of the camp week to see if they would provide some additional support or guidance for my kids since they were overwhelmed with the camp and received absolutely no response. <br><br>I emailed the COO and CEO about a number of issues and received a timely response, however, I indicated that I did not want my child to go for the second week. Rather than canceling my payment I was still charged. I emailed the leadership to let them know I was incorrectly charged and received absolutely no response despite an additional follow up email. <br><br>I have doubts based on the lack of organization of staff about this facility being a positive place for any child. This may not be a reflection of all Boys and Girls Clubs but I think is definitely there is a high need for improvement at this location. I question how much “support” and “guidance” this organization actually provides for a child despite this being part of their mission. My family will never return.

New Village Arts Theatre brings contemporary performing arts to Carlsbad and the north county. It is an excellent venue for those who love theatre at its best!

Staff on site are really nice and communicative. Admin is awful. I've been waiting for a email response from someone. I even called and got nowhere. I group emailed 4 members of the staff and no responsed after 6 weeks with 4 follow up emails. Not how you conduct business.. <br> <br>We ended up going to Boys and Girls Club. I'd recommend the same.

I've had the privilege of seeing the amazing transformations that Fresh Start provides to children and it is truly inspiring. Fresh Start is an amazing non-profit that gives ALL of the money donated directly to children. They help with travel expenses, housing accommodations, medications, follow up surgeries and so much more. Their help is allowing kids to have a brighter, happier future. They continue to provide services until the best possible outcome is reached and sometimes that takes years! It is absolutely wonderful what they are doing and I cant wait to see the future of this organization!

I love Ecolife! Been volunteering here for years. One of my favorite local organizations to give back with. They actually do the work and are moving the needle in their causes. Stoked to have seen this organization grow and be the change over the years. Cheers to more to come!

I have been to Kenya twice with Africa Thriving. This organization is dedicated to providing water through drilling wells in villages across Kenya. I was able to be a part of the first two well drillings. I will never forget the joy and excitement i saw in the people who knew their lives had been changed forever. You will want to be a part of this organization.

In 2009, a friend called that his Old English Sheepdog had been diagnosed with a non-malignant growth in his pallet. This growth would eventually make it impossible for Oliver to eat. My friend, David, was ill and going through a divorce and could not afford the surgery. I did an online search for help and Brown Dog Foundation came up. I completed the application and within hours, the founder, Carol Smock, contacted me. We obtained the surgery needed, with the help of the Brown Dog Foundation, and Oliver lived many happy years after the surgery. Carol advocated for Ollie and helped secure veterinary aid, and financial assistance. Oliver would have been euthanized without Carol Smock and The Brown Dog Foundation. I have been a supporter of this foundation since experiencing the dedication and wonderful work this foundation does to provide aid to pets in need.

It is all too common to feel helpless and lost as to how to give back to the world, especially if you don't have copious amounts to give or if you wish to donate to multiple charities. The Big Picture Project solves all of these issues and more. Each month, I get to donate to a new organization, and I don't have added anxiety that I won't be able to afford it because it costs less than my daily cup of coffee. The best part of it all is that The Big Picture Project frequently updates their social media pages and emails monthly newsletters that inform me on all of the great organizations that I am donating to, and it's amazing to watch the Project grow as more and more people subscribe.

WDR helped me during a difficult time. I fell in love with a WDR dog but lived in another town out of their jurisdiction. Thru their extensive research on my background , conversations with my local shelter and friends, I was able to adopt Abby. And my life changed! Abby has brought so much joy and laughter not only for me , but for my 100 year old mother. WDR made it happen.

I have loved Canine Connection for a while they have helped me rescue dogs. And will place them in the best home they are so caring and loving. I hope that they stay in business and get donations and help they deserve everything they help so many dogs.

When I was released from prison this organization walked along side of me through trials and tribulation and celebrated the journey. I am forever grateful for my new found life..

The Family Foundation stepped in during a time of need for my family. The military brought us across the country where we had no support. The Family Foundation is my support. It sets my family and I at great ease knowing we always have someone to count on. The family support, the Spouse events and the Warrior support for my husband is amazing. I've kept my eye on Sustainable Surplus Exchange from its' inception and am impressed at its' growth and influence it has had in the industry and on society so quickly. Watch this one, they are very committed!

CaLC has a wonderful Hebrew School. The JLIteens classes are educational and interactive. Programming for kids and families are fun. Adult Education is deep and intellectual. Services are uplifting and meaningful. The Rabbi is a great speaker (and my husband). The new building under construction will enable us to expand our programming and we are looking forward to branching out into the community even more. <br>Help us by coming by!

The Southern California Chapter of the National MS Society works tirelessly to support individuals and families living with MS. Although I live in Arizona, I have participated in this chapters 50 mile MS Challenge Walk for the past three years. This event is huge - with an enormous amount of preparation and support required for the participants. They do an amazing job. I love the event - and the work they do to make it inspiring and meaningful makes all the difference. <br> <br>I participate in this event because my oldest son was diagnosed with MS when he was 20 years old. He is now 30 and, due to the hard work by staff and volunteers, research dollars have provided increasing disease modifying therapies - critical to those living with MS. These medications are helping to stop progression until a cure is found. There is also amazing research being done to repair myelin and reverse the effects of the disease. I attended the National Leadership Conference this year and was amazed by the number of caring people working together to stop MS in it's tracks. This is an organization worth supporting. <br> <br>Thank you to all who have supported the NMSS. It is making a difference for our family, and all families living with MS. <br> <br> <br>

Mission Weimaraner Rescue in use of this 501C3: <br> <br>This organization will not answer questions about being non-profit , however continues to Fundraise. They have closed their Facebook page for comments as they don't want to answer the question about having a valid 501C3. They claim to be using this one with the FULL PERMISSION of the owner, however, you cannot USE someone elses 501C3. They further claim this owner has re-applied for this 501C3 but the IRS has no record of anyone trying to bring it to compliance. <br> <br>While I do believe the founder of Mission Weimaraner Rescue loves helping dogs, she is dishonest and deceitful in her ways of going about it. (IE lying to people on Craigs List to obtain dogs and puppies to resell) BEWARE and steer clear. There are other reputable Rescues who are on the up and up! <br> <br>Added note: She "Adopted" puppies from Craigs List (lied to owner of litter) ..I fostered them They had distemper and she abandoned me and a lady who adopted one of them. She forced me to make a life or death decision. She is refusing to return all fees paid by adopter of the other euthanised puppy.

As a volunteer I get more than I give at the Friendship Circle. At an organized horseback riding event, a beautiful blonde young woman slipped off her horse, she was unharmed as there were trained professionals right next to her to break her fall. Frightened, crying, and sitting in the dust, she was carried back to her wheelchair. It had taken her so long to overcome come her first set of fears about the horse. Her Friendship Circle companion, a friend who has visited her once a week for two years, stood by her side. Ten minutes later the young blonde woman was back on the horse. She inspired me to try something new. I joined a writers group and whenever I feel like quitting, I remember her crying, her recovery and the large open smile of accomplishment when she rode around the rink, her friend at her side. Having been around Friendship Circle for 4 years, I now know that this experience is an everyday act of courage. It is a honor to be a part of such a compassionate and down to earth community.

I have worked with Doctor Moses on many missions and am very proud of the work we do! We change lives of children and the families around them. As a nurse, in a non acute profession, this has been a way to use my skills and partipcate in a mission that is very satisfying.

The Angel's Depot has distributed 31,755 Meal Boxes, <br>FREE, to Seniors Living in Poverty in San Diego County . . . <br>prividing 666,855 Senior Meals using 698,610 Pounds of Food so far! I've helped to pack the meal boxes on several occasions. Incredibly organized and runs so smoothly. Inspiring work to help those to whom we owe so much.
