We fell in love with Theatre Bristol when my son auditioned for a part in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He has aspergers and has issues in social situations but loves to act in plays on stage. He was offered a role and the people involved in the show never made him feel like an outcast. They all made him feel like family. Everyone involved was amazing to us. He actually came out of his shell more and even danced on stage. Theatre Bristol is a great place to get involved in all aspects of theater.

I have been a part of a GHO team to Gambia (GHO is the outreach arm of Christian Medical and Dental Association) for two years and am very excited about returning for a third year this upcoming April. <br>The only way I can put my experience into words is that I had the extraordinary opportunity to have a front row seat to see God at work.<br>I served along side of selfless, tireless Doctors, nurses, psychologist, physical therapists, ultrasonographers and just all out servants ranging from teenagers to just over 70. We, as a team, but much more like a family, were able to provide various medical services to over 1.000 people in the course of one week on the ground. Everyone seen was also lovingly presented the gospel at every interaction. Approximately 100 people each year proclaimed Christ as their Lord and Savior. Between the first and second year, the team members used their pooled funds to make sure three young kids got to a location in India to have heart procedures performed . If these operations didn't occur these precious lives would not be with us today. <br>The GHO does this on repeat around the world annually, in places where the people would otherwise not be able to have any medical care, with multiple teams. <br>If you are looking to make a difference in the world for some of the least of these, look no further. But don't just give, go! Be a part of a team and experience this for yourself and be blessed beyond your imagination.

Friends… It is with a heavy heart that I share a story of two men. One man is the husband, father, pastor, and leader of Walnut Hill Presbyterian. The other man informed his wife almost two years ago of his intention to divorce her, he has made her get a job even though she cares for their four children and fulfills a number of other duties, has been emotionally abusive, and has forbidden anyone to discuss his plans/ actions/ behavior. In truth, these two men are the same, Andy Moehn.<br><br>He has already requested permission from our Deacons and Elders to leave Kacey because he hasn’t received enough ‘adult time’; they failed to see the Biblical basis and rejected his request. The fact that this was done ‘behind closed doors’ further illustrates his hypocrisy. Kacey and the kids has been made to live under this stress for the past two years and Andy has crushed Kacey emotionally to the point that she is a shadow of herself. Andy has rejected the decision of our church’s leadership and has appealed to the Presbytery; however, it is unlikely that they are going to address his request with urgency. In the meantime, Andy expects Kacey to pretend to be a happy wife and serve beside to him, while he is rumored to be getting ‘emotional support’ from outside the home.<br><br>Even for those who have not been aware of this situation, it has been obvious Kacey has not ‘been herself’ for quite some time. Andy has asked for full custody of the children, no child support, and/or no alimony for Kacey. He wants to leave her without a house; only with her car and a small amount of cash--- and if his request is granted by the church, he hopes to continue to be our leader.<br><br>Now that these allegations are ‘out in the open’, I feel that is our choice to decide on whether we want him as our pastor; but that is a conversation which can take place over time, after careful research and prayer. Over the next few days/ weeks, we need to put our arms around Kacey and the kids and do our best to address the deplorable living conditions they are being forced to endure. <br><br>Although this is bad news, please spread the word; as Andy has already removed my previous post on FaceBook, and this family needs love…<br><br><br>mosaic.floater02@icloud.com<br>

I have been volunteering with API for over twenty years, since shortly after I found them and began receiving education and support. I had learned about attachment in my psychology graduate program, and I found when I became a parent that while the professionals knew a lot about what children need in terms of attachment-promoting care, the culture was telling parents things that were not supported by research. Things that would put distance in the parent-child relationship. When I found API, and saw that it was bridging the gap between what parents were told and what the research showed, I knew I needed to be a part of their efforts. Through my involvement with API, I have grown so much as a parent and as a professional helping parents.

I have been a volunteer at Kingsway Charities for many years. It was originally King Benevelent Fund but changed a few years back. They had other ministries of which one was the Widows Mite. We took widows to the Dr's and other places but at present it is the International Ministry I. Which we send donated medication to Missionaries who administer them to the needy in 3rd world countries. A GREAT place to volunteer. Wonderful people. Love it <br>

I live on State Street in Bristol VA, having just moved here last July. As a member of the Bristol Chamber of Commerce, I helped the Rhythm and Roots Reunion executive director, Leah Ross, prepare a PowerPoint presentation about the festival to show to at the chamber membership breakfast. After that project, I bought tickets and couldn't wait to attend. Putting the presentation together with Leah taught me how people come, and from all over - including several foreign nations - to listen to music and enjoy this festival. I also learned how the community deeply supports the event - with many corporate supporters, volunteers, in-kind service donors and musicians all chipping in to make the magic happen. When BRR threw out the welcome mat, my husband and I were there within the first hours, and we were blown away. BRRR is part block party, part hoe-down, part gospel revival, and ALL Americana roots music all the time. So many people crowded downtown, yet everyone was having a fun time. I saw no issues. That kind of success takes strong leadership and a core group of volunteers who share a clear vision. I cannot wait to get more involved this year and enjoy it all over again.
