Causes: Centers to Support the Independence of Specific Populations, Human Services
Mission: At ADEC, we're dedicated to reducing the occurrence of disabilities and breaking down barriers--both physical and attitudinal--through education, advocacy and support.
Programs: Residential services includes supervised group residential living and supported living services. Both serve adults with developmental disabilities in either a group home setting or their own home or apartment with the support of trained staff assistance. Most of adec's group residences are located in community neighborhoods. We provide individualized support and teaching in the area of personal development and socialization. We are outcome driven and support individuals with various emotional and behavioral needs. Individuals have the opportunity to attend social activities on a daily basis. Homes are located in residential areas where the individuals can be full participants in their community. Residents are provided with many of adec's services and training in behavior management, communication, adult daily living skills, employment and community interaction. Supported living services provide residential supports to people on the developmental disabilities waiver, autism waiver, traumatic brain injury waiver and bdds state funding budgets. adult training and vocational services includes employment services, adult habiliation and adec industries. At adec, we strive to be the benchmark in providing quality employment opportunities for individuals experiencing life with a disability. We work with each of our clients individually, ensuring that their goals, interests and abilities are factored into their job search. Certified social security benefits counselors will assist you in making informed choices about your employment and how it may impact your ssi, ssdi or other government funded programs; such as snap, hud housing, medicaid and medicare. Adec employment services also provides supported employment follow along services to individuals currently employed in the community. We have job coaches on staff to ensure each of our clients are able to successfully maintain employment and be as successful as possible in their job placement. We currently have over 200 adults with a disability successfully employed at businesses in elkhart and st. Joseph counties. (continued on schedule o)
family services includes family services and recreational and music therapy services. Adec family services offers valuable services through extended day and summer camp programs. Each program strives to provide families vital support through meaningful activities for their school aged children with developmental disabilities. Relief and assistance for families with children of all ages and/or adults with disabilities and/or emotional /mental illness is also provided through adec's respite services, a sibshop program for siblings of disabled children and a game club - a social group for young adults with autism, gps (guiding parents to services) can help parents, guardians and caregivers tap into the time-tested experience of over 60 years of service to elkhart county children, adults and families facing the challenges of disabilities. transportation services in elkhart county are provided to adec day services clients who use services at the elkhart and bristol campuses, as well as our goshen and middlebury day service locations. Group home and supported living staff provide transportation for residents in those services. Transportation brings clients to work daily at adec industries where clients work, gain valuable skills and receive a paycheck.
