We recently took Bingo in for her spay surgery and booster vaccinations. We loved the whole experience! The online registration was convenient and easy, communication was fantastic, and staff were so helpful! They let us know when an earlier appointment became available, the timing was just perfect. They sent instructions and reminders about what to expect. Bingo received great care and I’m so grateful that this service exists in our area! Thank you very much!!!

BCC is an incredible organization doing such incredibly necessary work for the community in Bastrop County. The staff, volunteers, and funders are innovative, hard working and truly caring. <br>They are helping with breast cancer screening, early childhood development, mental and physical healthcare, children's recreation, veteran care, elderly care, maternal care, nutrition and food accessibility just to name a few. <br> <br>I'd encourage anyone in need or those looking to give back to reach out to Bastrop County Cares.

The founder of this ministry has such a big heart for the community, the needy, the homeless and displaced people...who've sometimes been forgotten. I'm praying God will sustain and grow this ministry and help the husband and wife, who have struggle so much to bring food, shelter and dignity to the less fortunate of us...down on their luck and seeking God's grace. I hope more people will open their hearts to this great need and to this ministry. I read that 50% of the people who come through this program have been able to get back on their feet and find a home of their own. ITS HUH ministry is working. So we can give with confidence that our money is going to support a ministry that is fruitful.

Junior started out in a rural area with room to roam, a slew of dog companions, and apparently, very little human supervision. Eventually his habit to roam caused him to cross paths with an automobile, which resulted in a broken back leg. <br><br>This is where Bastrop Rescue stepped in. We saw him in a Craigslist ad (Junior takes a good picture), made inquiries, and eventually met him at Rindy’s home. <br><br>It was obvious he wasn’t going to be an “easy” adoption. In the short term, his broken leg was still being treated which, along with additional doctor visits, required he be kept on restricted activity for the first six weeks we had him. Long term, while Junior was always a sweet and loving boy, he lacked the social skills to interact properly with our other dog JoJo. It was an ongoing process, but over time we’ve integrated him into the family and he’s getting better and better every day. He now has free run of the house, plays enthusiastically with JoJo in the back yard, snoozes with us on the couch, and has a spot on the bed with us at night.<br><br>Today, Junior lives an entirely different life than he did before, he also is a gregarious and affectionate boy that brings much joy to our household. <br>

11 years ago I was distraught looking at the pictures and hearing the stories of hurricane Katrina. My husband and I hadn't been going to church for very long so I didnt know many people. One night I decided I wanted to go to Long Beach, Mississippi to help with hurricane clean up. I called a lady I had met in church and asked her if she wanted to go. Within days we were packed and ready to go. Nothing can prepare you for what you see after total destruction of a city/town. It happened to be November when we went. Three months after the hurricane. It was hard for me too leave. I wanted to stay and help but I had obligations at home. On the way back we talked about how we could give back to our community. We came up with what we call our Thanksgiving Meal. Our congregation donated all the food and we quickly prepared a Thanksgiving meal for our community on Thanksgiving day. Open to everyone free of charge. The first year we fed 85 people. This year marked our 11th year and we fed over 700. The meal has grown, thd ministry has grown. I set out with one goal to bless people and I am the one that is always blessed. I have met many people over the years. Ones that are homeless and need a place to go, ones that have lost their jobs, ones that have lost family members, and ones that just want to fellowship. This year we added a clothing closet, gave out grocery boxes, had prayer boxes and a blessing tree. It takes many hands to pull this meal off and I am humbled that people give their time to help support my mission. Even the youngest of children help prepare. They get excited about giving back to the community. I pray every year that this meal blesses at least one person but I have come to realize that it blesses many. I can only hope that future generations carry out my dream that everyone in our community knows there is a place with food, friends and fellowship on Thanksgiving day.
