INTERNATIONAL CARE MINISTRIES
May 1, 2011
I recently spent 10 days in the Philippines touring the ICM oeprations at three of their bases. I have never seen this level of efficiency derived from the business leadership of David Sutherland, combined with local staff that all grew up in the ultra-poor conditions of the families they serve and a laser focus on the poorest of the poor. They provide values, livelihood and health education along with practical community development centered around a network of 1800 local leaders. I have toured hundreds of charities, and was deeply impressed by the scale and impact they are having with people that earn less than 40 cents a day.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
Talking with many participants and local leaders to see how ICM was impacting their lives. The impressive results are everywhere you go--that is wherever ICM is present.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
ICM needs to grow to an even bigger level in the Philippines and beyond. They have requests from other Islands, and while I was there met visitors from Indonesia, Cambodia and the US trying to learn from the great work on the ground. They are ready to grow beyond the 50,000 they serve each year-- the world needs ICM!
Advisor & I helped feed hungry children, joined communities in their learning and even taught a lesson about malaria and denge fever.
