Review for Miracle Flights, Las Vegas , NV, USA

Rating: 1 stars

This charity requires you send a photo of yourself before they will donate a flight. I have gone through several other charities for free flights to treatment and have never been asked for a photo. To ask is one thing but these people REQUIRE it before they will consider giving you a flight for cancer treatment. Having cancer is horrible. Telling friends and family that you have cancer is difficult. Letting current or future jobs know of your diagnosis is also difficult...cancer becomes a part of your identity. If you need assistance to pay for services you are required to share all your very personal medical information, call many numbers, talk about your cancer and divulge extremely personal information just to get some assistance. I understand why this is and that its necessary but to take it a step further and also require I send you a photo of myself, thats one step too far. What could be the purpose? Everyone knows you cannot get on a flight without a picture ID. All my medical information includes my full name and social security number. I know what they want my photo for....PROMOTION! Well to that I say "NO" I am not going to be exploited because I have cancer. You do not get a picture of a sick young woman who needs chemo/radiation and surgeries. It makes me sad that a charity that is suppose to be doing something good insists they the right to require so much from the one in need. They feel its their right to know every personal detail about your battle with cancer and then put a photo of you in their file to complete their intrusion. I would rather not get my treatment than to let an organization violate my privacy any more than it already has!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

directly. Spoke with them on the phone

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

treat people with kindness. Those battling cancer have so many obstacles and this organization only creates more

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Nothing I was in tears when I got off the phone. I felt violated, lied to.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

not helpful, not truthful and snide

Ways to make it better...

They required I submit only what is necessary to show that I have cancer and am in need of treatment

Review for Spirit Jump, Boynton Beach, FL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Spirit Jump has lifted my spirits as both a Jumper and Jumpee. I founded this organization after I battled 3b cervical cancer. When I was sick in the hospital friends & family sent me so many cards, flowers and small gifts. During my darkest days these tokens of love were the only bright moments I received. Now I am able to give others this same joy through Spirit Jump. There are hundreds of loving, giving people who reach out to the many battling cancer. It warms my heart to see their love and strength. There are also hundreds of people who receive Spirit Jumps and I know first hand that their spirits are lifted by the cards and other spirit jumps they receive.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have received Spirit Jumps while in the hospital having my kidney removed and felt the joy of knowing many out there who do not even know me are thinking & praying for my health. I have also spoken to other who received Jumps & those who send them.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I do run it :) Open to suggestions though

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Knowing I have touched so many lives all over the world. My life on this earth now has purpose because of Spirit Jump. I've done more good in this world in the past 6 months than I had during my 28 years before cancer & Spirit Jump.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

I have met them all and each one has been touched by cancer in one way or another. Because of this all Spirit Jump staff members have their hearts in this organization and truly want to help people battling cancer.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Lift the spirits of every man, woman and child battling cancer across the world!

Ways to make it better...

we can help more people. Our goal is to help as many people battling cancer as we can.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Finances would be the top. We are very small but there are so many things we need.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Thank you to everyone who supports us by sending out Spirit Jumps, participating in our giveaways, writing reviews etc...Spirit Jump would not exist without all the loving people out there
