Review for Guardettes Of Orange County Inc, Garden Grove, CA, USA
I was a member of Guardettes for 2 years. I really have to say that experience was a defining point of my life. I feel that this dance & drill team is a key factor mostly in childrens lifes. The team teaches children how to be a team because on Guardettes its not an individual that makes Guardettes successful. School does not teach children enough about the arts but dance is a fundemental part of art. My love of dance was built from the foundation Guardettes set out for me. I have moved from Garden Grove where I grew up and now I have children of my own and unfortunately I don't have an organization like this in my city.
More Feedback
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
my appretiation for dance, my ability to fuction in a team setting, the older girls that were on the team thast gave me someone to look up to, and my knowledge of why & how to bring an organization to a community and its importance to children.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
encourage them to reach out to alumnis for assistance throughout the year. I can see the support the team gets from us and all it takes is a few e-mails or even a mailing to get assistance with organizing, planning, and funding.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the talent I got to witness first hand, the memories it brought to me with trips to competitions and are annual slumber party in Palm Springs was such a bonding experience.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
dedicated, usually parents of the dancers, and very supportive.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
help assist the parents in paying for elaborate costumes, provide a solid studio space, and office space for board members and teachers, provide money to help assist the lower income families who want their kids on the team.
Ways to make it better...
I really have to say my experience could not of been better.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
the ability to get out there and reach the communtities letting them know what you do & finding more ways to raise money for the team. It has been awhile but I'm pretty sure theres only 2 or 3 events put on to raise money.
One thing I'd also say is that...
I as an alumni need to reach out to the team to see if I can help out in any way, I'd love to pay for and make some flyers for distribution to schools and to community members. I'd like to help brainstorm for fundraising ideas.
