My daughter and I were involved with Guardettes for four years and after 2 years have come back because we missed it. We could not stop thinking about all the neat experiences we had being part of this wonderful program. This program offers so much...excellent dance instruction, creative dance routines and costumes. We have performed for the community, at dance competitions and in the end-of-year big show. This program creates a family atmosphere where I have met great people who like me, want to give something more to their kids. I love watching my daughter dance as much as I love watching her teammates and all the teams dance. My daughter has learned so much more than dance these past years. She has grown up in this program. Guardettes celebrate our kids..our dancers. Everyone in this program from the director, instructors, families, community and kids give more than what you expect... they all give heart! I love everything about Guardettes!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing dancers and families return year after year.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Organization is good

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the end-of-year Big Show Production. The dancers experience "putting on a show" on a professional dance stage! Experienceing dress rehersals, pre-show heartfelt toasts", show t-shirts, opening dance, finale, receiving flowers and going to a cast party!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Awesome. We are blessed to have real creative talent in our instructors and a director who loves this program. Her dedication to keeping and growing this program is exceptional and I feel she is the core..the heart...of this dance organization.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

use a bigger studio to accomodate a growing organization.

Ways to make it better...

All my experiences are good.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

One thing I'd also say is that...

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

WOW!! From first hand experience all I can say is WOW! I have been involved with the Guardette organization as a participant and now I am returning as a mother. I gained so much from being a Guardette myself that I had to pass the experience on to my daughter. In Guardettes, I learned to stand with my head held high and maintained a permanent smile on and off the dance floor. I traveled, made lasting friendships, and participated in charitable events. My daughter loves to dance, but can not wait for class because of the time she spends with close friends, both peers and staff. This organization has blossomed from practice in the park to a small studio. I feel like there is way more room to grow. I would love to see the Guardettes expand to enable all young ladies a chance to experience its power!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

both my daughter and myself!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Lasting friendship and confidence.

Amazing

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

meet the needs of every young girl/or boy

Ways to make it better...

We had had a bigger facility.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

limited resources

One thing I'd also say is that...

This organization inspires and instills a sense of worth in children.

It's amazing what a little applause can do for a young girl's confidence. We've been involved in Guardettes since my 17 year old was a very shy 5th grader. My daughter's self confidence and self esteem has blossomed because of Guardettes. What I like best about this organization is the family atmosphere of the team. They make sure to provide fun bonding activities for the dancrers, along with classes, performances and competitions. The other part that kept us involved with this team is that Guardettes is one of the only organizations I know of where the beginning classes perform at community events alongside the more advanced, competition teams, and EVERYONE dances in the end of the year "big" show. The teachers are talented, caring dancers and the choreography suits the ages of the dancers.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Seeing my daughter grow from a shy child into a confident, graceful dancer.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

it's not just classes and two showcase performances. All the dancers perform at events throughout Orange County, along with their Christmas and year-end shows.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

knowledgeable and caring.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

have the kind of studio its dancers deserve while being able to continue to offer a quality, low-cost alternative to dance studios.

Our family has been with the Guardettes for 3 years now and we find that it is a fabulous program. Not only has it helped my daughter improve her dance skills but it has built up her self-esteem tremendously. It is a program based on team effort and it is very family oriented. It is amazing to watch the dancers shine on stage at the end of the year "big show". Although, as many could understand, my most favorite part of this whole thing is watching my little girl smile when she's performing on stage with a group of girls who she will forever consider her family.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

We have made friends that will last a lifetime.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Watching my daughter grown into a beautiful, confident dancer.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

The staff and board members work very hard on ensuring that this program runs according to what is best for the families involved. Its all for the well being of the kids.

This is my oldest daughter's 5th year being a Guardette. She loves it to death, not only her, but us as family love it too. We had been so pleased with the overall environment of the organization that we decided to have our 6yr old joined the team last year and recently our 4 yr old joined too. For us is very important to be involved in everything our daughters have an interest in and without hesitation this is the perfect organization(dance team)for our daughters to adquire their dance innstruction. As parents, we love the parent involvement and that our opinion counts. We love to see how our daughters enjoy every single moment. This could be during dance instruction, special gatherings with all their teammates(friends) and best of all at the awaited year end show, where every child gets to shine on stage and then we will be amazed to see how much each dancer has grown with the instruction, help and guidance from their dance instructors. Also the parent involvement is reflected. Defenitely much recommended especially if you want to belong to one of the most well known dance teams throughout the community!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my daughters' growth as dancers. Their love and dedication is contributed to how well they are instructed and how enjoyable their experience has been with Guardettes.

My 13 year old daughter has been involved in dance for over 9 years and she wants to continue with dance as she grows. I feel this dance organization is a positive influence on her. She sees that dancers come in all shapes and sizes and different abilities. Everyone is treated with kindness and respect. As a parent, I feel fortunate to have found a group of friendly and fun parents to get to know through meetings, fundraisers and performances.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the friendliness of the staff and other parents.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

move to a larger studio and have more than one class at a time. Advertise how cool dancing is and get some more teenagers both male and female to join the team.

This is my daughter's 4th year dancing with the Guardettes. Prior to that she was taking classes at a dance studio. I am amazed at the growth she had mad as a dancer and a team member is such a short time. She loves it!!! She is 11 and wants to take as many classes as she can. She has many friends on the team. The girls and boys on this team are wonderful young people. They are caring and look after the younger ones. The classes have really helped my daughter to shine as a dancer. She was ready to quit dancing because I think the studio atmosphere was not right for her. With Guardettes her skill has improved so much. She tried out for Orange County High School of the Arts recently. We hope she gets in, but she won't quit Guardettes even if she does. She made that very clear. As a parent, I enjoy the "family" atmosphere at this studio. We have bbq's, pool parties, sleepovers and lots of fun. To help keep costs down, parent's volunteer their time (15hrs a year...no big deal) so we get to know each other very well. The coaches are great leaders/choreographers/dancers/role models. My daughter knows she has to work hard, but she also gets told "good job" when she has done something well. This studio does not take the fun out of dance. I would recommend this team to any family who wants a low-cost dance program that is family-oriented. It is a great experience for parents and dancers.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Seeing how my daughter has grown as a dancer and participating as a parent volunteer. I am Booter Chair Mom and also Big Show Chair. It's amazing to see how the girls grow when we get to see them at the end of the year Big Show!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

wave a magic wand to make the studio bigger and up to date. Unfortunately the economy has hit the non-profits hard.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Watching the girls grow as dancers and building relationships with amazing people. The other parents are very friendly and caring. Because it's low-cost we get a variety of people so the diversity makes it so much better for everyone.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

The staff are knowledgeable and enthusiastic. While they can be tough at times, they are always caring and helpful. They really care about the dancers and help them to follow their dreams.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Provide an excellent dance experience to kids on a much bigger scale. It is heartbreaking that kids who want to dance, can't do so because of finances. With 10 million bucks, dance would be available to every dancer, no matter their ability to pay.

Ways to make it better...

My experience has been wonderful with Guardettes. I wish we had more girls/boys who could experience what my daughter has.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Economic issues. It's hard in these times to ask for money. Even big corporations are feeling it and not making as many contributions as they used to. We just have to hope it all works out.

One thing I'd also say is that...

If you have a child that loves to dance, no matter what level they are, Guardettes has a class/team for them. They will benefit greatly in more ways than just dance.

I was a member of Guardettes for 2 years. I really have to say that experience was a defining point of my life. I feel that this dance & drill team is a key factor mostly in childrens lifes. The team teaches children how to be a team because on Guardettes its not an individual that makes Guardettes successful. School does not teach children enough about the arts but dance is a fundemental part of art. My love of dance was built from the foundation Guardettes set out for me. I have moved from Garden Grove where I grew up and now I have children of my own and unfortunately I don't have an organization like this in my city.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my appretiation for dance, my ability to fuction in a team setting, the older girls that were on the team thast gave me someone to look up to, and my knowledge of why & how to bring an organization to a community and its importance to children.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

encourage them to reach out to alumnis for assistance throughout the year. I can see the support the team gets from us and all it takes is a few e-mails or even a mailing to get assistance with organizing, planning, and funding.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the talent I got to witness first hand, the memories it brought to me with trips to competitions and are annual slumber party in Palm Springs was such a bonding experience.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

dedicated, usually parents of the dancers, and very supportive.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

help assist the parents in paying for elaborate costumes, provide a solid studio space, and office space for board members and teachers, provide money to help assist the lower income families who want their kids on the team.

Ways to make it better...

I really have to say my experience could not of been better.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the ability to get out there and reach the communtities letting them know what you do & finding more ways to raise money for the team. It has been awhile but I'm pretty sure theres only 2 or 3 events put on to raise money.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I as an alumni need to reach out to the team to see if I can help out in any way, I'd love to pay for and make some flyers for distribution to schools and to community members. I'd like to help brainstorm for fundraising ideas.

Guardettes of Orange County has been nothing but a fabulous experience for me. I danced with this team for over 7 years and had recently been granted the opportunity to teach classes. It gives kids a chance to learn different styles of dance as well as a second family. I have taken classes at many various studios and nothing compares to Guardettes. Great students, great teachers, and a positive enviorment. So glad I was given the chance to grow up here!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Expand into many studios and grant others the same opportunity I had.

My 16 year old daughter has been dancing with Guardettes for 3 years now and it has been a wonderful experience. This organization isn't just about teaching dance, it's about building friendships and teaching an appreciation for different styles of dance. They encourage their students to do their own choreography and also to help each other. You will often see the older students helping out in the classes for younger kids. This not only improves their dance skills but gives them an opportunity to perform community service. My daughter danced at a studio for six years before she joined Guardettes. She has learned more from the staff here in a shorter time than she learned in all 6 years at that dance studio. They have several fun activies outside of dance classes to promote team bonding and friendship. My daughter loves her time there and I love the low cost & quality instruction. The board works very hard to provide a great program at a low cost and I am always impressed by how much they can do with so little.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

My daughter gets excellent dance instruction for a great price. This has built her self-esteem and keeps her busy in an extra-curricular activity that promotes physical health & good character

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

my daughter has learned a lot and made friendships that will hopefully last for years to come.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

The Guardette staff is wonderful. The dance teachers really care about their students and they push them to excel. Very organized and communication is excellent.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

increase their classes and expose more kids to dance. I have seen a lot of kids in our area that love to dance but don't have the resources to pay for classes. With more money Guardettes could provide scholarships as well as rent larger studio space.
