I discovered HART by hearing so many others talk about what an asset is was to our community. Frankly, I thought these were probably people with a vested interest in the organization. Well, I found out last year when I started attending the performances that if anything the reports were under estimating the value. HART touches so many constituents, the actors, the live theatre lovers, the business in Waynesville and the larger community in and out side of Haywood County. The plays are fresh, some times a little "risky" but always tasteful with all the right cautions for young audiences. One of the most interesting events HART sponsors each year is called Haywood's Got Talent. I personally helped with the auditions in 2012. The participants were virtually all local, amateur performers who got the opportunity to show their talent, get stage experience and make their families proud. How much better does it get. HART recognizes the obligations it has to the community and that the current facilities does not maximize their potential impact. The current focus to add a second theatre will go a long way to fully supporting this community. I now participate on the HART Board and find it very refreshing (especially since it is a non profit and the Board members are volunteers.) Everyone is a huge supporter of the current and future plans and works hard to fulfil the dream!!
