BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF GREATER MEMPHIS
April 28, 2011
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis reach so many kids and families each day. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis is the Salvation, we take our kids out of diseasters each day in their homes, BGCM is the person there for their pain and hurt that they face each day. BGCM is the religious place for kids, we teach them right from wrong. BGCM is the Education place for our kids, we stress the importance of Education each day in our Clubs, we graduate 97.6%. We are family for most of these kids, we are their mother, father, brother and sister. We do so much, but we need to reach more. We reach 7300 a year, we need to reach all the kids out there that need us the most. BGCM is here for all those kids and we will continue to reach more.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
I enjoy seeing so many kids graduate. So many families life turn around. I had one little boy who came to me with so much anger. He hit me in my stomache one day and threaten to kill me. I told him that he couldn't hurt me. Long story short, each day I would work with this kid and told him that he was a great kids and that I loved him with all my heart. That kid turned a 360 in three weeks and is now one of the best kids at the Club. (He was angry because he lost both parents at the same time!).
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I would beg for more money every day from those who are blessed to give to this organization. We can do so much more to bring more kids off the street. We can turn bullies into angels. We take students making failing grades into graduating. I would not make changes in the organization, but in my community and country.
Professional with expertise in this field & I gave my life up to serve children. By working at the Club, I see the Children that we are making an impact on each day. I helped build a brand new building. I helped many kids make it to college. I provided food for all our families who needed food.
