Review for The National Military Family Association, Alexandria, VA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

National Military Family Association is an amazingly well run charitable organization. They are a wonderful, all encompassing rescource for the massive tangle that can be involved in seeking information or support from the military on family issues. There is a specialist on site in every field who will personally help you find informaiton or find the proper rescource for a problem.
If there is no current answer to a problem or concern, they have the rescources to make things happen on our behalf. Always thinking one step ahead of what military families need or what would make our life easier and making these things happen.
Operation Purple for children is a wonderful example. This massive program that NMFA instilled thru soliciting funds on our behalf, helps children of deployed military to go to camp, have fun and sort thru their feelings about their missing parent. At no cost to the family.
I see the people involved on this campaign and they work tirelessly year round to make this yearly event a success and to reach as many families as possible.
My hats off to this great organization and I enjoy volunteering with them.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

working at the front desk, volunteering to answer the phones on the days the secretary is out. Getting all the incoming calls and the clients who are so relieved to find they have a caring, accurate resource on issues like adoptiong, PTSD, health care, etc made me realize just how special this organization is to us military families.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

can't honestly think of anything at the moment.

Role:  Volunteer & I spent a month or so helping review many applicants for a military spouse scholarship program and help select the winners.
