Cyndy Lane
Review for Mercy Corps, Portland, OR, USA
Mercy Corps is the first charity my husband and I donate to in the event of any global crisis or disaster. They are usually on the ground before any other agencies, probably because they are already "in country". We became aware of Mercy Corps because they are based in Portland, Oregon and have a well-deserved reputation for excellent management paired with amazing empathy. Their staff is very helpful in supplying materials to aid in Alternative Gift Fairs, promptly and at no charge. Their gift cards for 2010 were distinctive, conveying their messages of hope with colorful pictures & catchy wording.

Fortunately, I have been blessed with the security of a home, food, clothing and education. I have not needed the aid provided by Mercy Corps. Rather, I seek to spread their message and compassion to those who do need their help.

Review for Alternative Gifts International , Wichita, KS, USA
I have coordinated an Alternative Gift Fair at my church with a friend whose sister has been involved in Alternative Gift Fairs for many years. Alternative Gifts International was brought to our attention as a link to many charities we might not have heard about but whose missions fit our criteria. The support both verbally and with materials was outstanding! The wide array of charities in their catalogue was amazing; we were able to choose ones that were perfect fits with our criteria and at prices that made them affordable in our area which is still recovering from the recession. We would heartily recommend working with this organization.

Alternative Gifts International is a wonderful "clearing house" for a variety of charities that truly make a difference in the world. From shares of a bicycle ambulance, medicines for mobile clinics in Haiti, combating deforestation, improving literacy and children's health, AGI can help in finding the "perfect match".

I really wouldn't make any changes because their support was amazing. They are considering publishing their catalogue in black & white for their 25th anniversary which I personally think is a mistake.
