Review for Sharkarosa Ranch, Pilot Point, TX, USA

Rating: 1 stars

A little overhyped given their fb following & tv show on dirty jobs. Animal holding places stunk to high heaven & they were letting kids pet monkeys with huge canine teeth. Very scary & stupid to say the least or they just have awsome isurance. I wasn't prepared for that at all & thought it woudl be a safe place for my family but left appaled that they'd risk public safety in that way. Told one of the staff members about my concerns but was rudely dismissed. IMO the price is too high for what you get also.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

pilot point, tx

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Make sure animals stay in cages & away from the public where they belong!!!! I get that this place isn't a real zoo but letting people touch WILD animals for the sake of ratings is a dumb idea. Price was also steep.

Will you volunteer or donate to this organization?

No

How much of an impact do you think this organization has?

How did you learn about this organization?

Hi akfreebird, I want to apologize that you didn't have a good experience at Sharkarosa. Our web site clearly states that we are an interactive facility. I want to point out that we absolutely do not allow interaction with monkeys. We do bring out trained educational lemurs for people to pet their tails, which is completely legal. We are licensed not only thru the USDA, but also hold a Zoological permit, which is very hard to get and does qualify us as a zoo. We do not do anything for the sake of "ratings." We breed rare and endangered species for zoos around the world and run educational programs during the week. If you remember the name of the staff member who was rude to you, I'd love for you to email me in private; we don't tolerate any underserved rudeness towards guests.
