Assistance League of Arcadia
February 27, 2011
Our organization reaches out and makes a difference in so many peoples lives: school children, seniors, the visually impaired, mothers with newborn infants and more. We have auxiliaries that enable working individuals, high school students and young adults a place to volunteer. I have been a member since my daughter joined in 2004, and I am still a member today even after my daughter has gone off to college because, every member has an interest in and operates this organization - none of us are paid, and if we don't show up for our volunteer days our doors would have to close. After a day of volunteering at one of our programs, I feel thankful that I was able to make a difference in a someones' life because that's what we do at Assistance League of Arcadia.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
seeing the faces of the children when they are trying on new clothing, getting a choice of a pair of shoes to try on and then receiving a thank you note from them in their own words. They are so happy when they leave Assistance League of Arcadia.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
cancel a program before we consider taking on a new one.
We cannot add to our programs without recruiting new active members (members who volunteer at our programs). We already have in place several ways to introduce prospective members to our organization, and as a membership we are always brainstorming, trying to come up with new ideas on how to accomplish this. We don't want to cancel a program.
Volunteer & I have served on the Board and on many committees but the program that has most touched my heart is "Operation School Bell". I have dressed many children who have needed school uniforms, shoes, underwear, school supplies, backpacks and hygiene kits, .
